I like how you said that one of the Obi-Wan's was worth a lot more, since it was the first run. None of these figures retained the value that people thought they would be, which is good, since I can buy these and open them up, relive my childhood, without regretting it.
I liked the sculps of the original1995 release. They made them bulky which reminded me of how the characters were drawn on the movie posters back in the day. Now they make them rail thin.
That European Dash Rendar card was pretty cool. Looking at the back of the cards now, these are better than the vintage collection cardbacks. But the newer vc figures are definitely better.
Awesome, I had some of the Power of the Force orange card figures too. They were the first star wars figures I got when I first started getting into Star Wars
Great vid, I started collecting when the orange cards came out so seeing the entire series is very very cool. Was there a jedi luke orange card released only at movie theaters when the original trilogy came back to theaters?
@BulletSmoke You're right there was a Jedi Knight Luke that was exclusive to theaters when the reissued movies came out. It was on a green card not orange though. I'll show it in an upcoming vid. Thanks for watching.
I think they only ditched the longer write-ups with the freeze frames; I have C-3PO on both red and green card and they still have the same bio, but they use a different photo.
You forgot the Jedi Luke variant (brown vest) and the Tatooine Stormtrooper (there is one that says Sandtrooper). FYI another easy way to tell the Pricess Leia variants is the number of rungs on the belt itself.
Cool collection, my son has just decided he does not want his POTF figures so I have claimed them, all are unboxed but I do have a Boba Fett THX leaflet boxed which you may want to look out for.
Growing up in Brooklyn that obi wan was impossible to find. I was 10 and my older brother paid $50 for one in a comic shop. Insane to think he paid that much now.
I love this line...My obsession was always ig88 and prince xizor from the shadows line later in the series...love the videos john..youre on crazy nut! but in the best way
Already it's very difficult to find the 1995 POTF2 Orange card line in Mint to Near mint condition. (Packaging) I collected all the orange in 95' and later got rid of all of them! I even had the tatooine luke short saber long tray. ( I'm a dumbass ) Slowly getting them back again now.
I think it will be the same as we had with the vintage line. Now you should buy these figures if you want them. In 10-15 year they will badly increasing in price. Just like the vintage figures. In the 90s you could get them für 2-3 dollars ... and now ? They cost hundreds ....
where are the best places to go to get the figures that arent online because im like 14 and i dont have accounts on any of the sites so is there a place where i can get them at like a comic store or something
I bought a few of these back then and about a month ago, I gave some to my son ( 4 yrs old ) to open, guess what, they're not that great. I like their looks, but they don't stand good. Anyways still love them and Star Wars
Hasbro now in charge of Kenner believed boys wanted figures with rediculous he-man sculpting and convinced Lucasfilm to allow it, anaware there would be a loyal fan base of adult collectors. It wouldn't be till the Rebel Blockade Soldier was issued that Lucasfilm would step in and demand Hasbro to release more accurately styled figures.
@Widelongfaces Totally not stupid bro! He was a pilot/ smuggler in the shadows of the empire story..he is the protagonist i believe from the novel and video game..check it out!
+JACKSON THOMAS I don't know why he has so many, but I know why I have the same amount. This figure was incorrectly labeled as being shortpacked upon initial release and therefore collectors sought her out. With such a demand and an initial shortage of figures due to the Star Wars Renaissance taking Hasbro by storm, scalpers would be selling her for twice her retail price on the secondary market. Anywhere from 50 to the 2 ring skirt to 200 for the 3 ring skirt. If you saw her in 1995 on store pegs you bought her under the belief you could unload her for that same amount.
it's probably a combination of what the other fine Star Wars fan mentions, but also because of the monkey-face. I remember not getting this Leia spec because of the illuminati disparity inherent in chimpanzee evolution and reptile re-growth and DEVOlution. ... just kidding ... lol. I suppose you buy everyone one you can if you weren't 5 years old when Ep IV and Kenner dropped a bomb on young "narrative-sponge" misslecommand kids like I was, or maybe you were 5 when RotJ hit ... no matter. I miss my OG out of the card figures, but I collect things I like - clones mostly ... w/o monkey faces ...
