Star Wars Rebellion - This Game NEEDS More Content and I'll Tell You Why! 

Rebellion is hands down the best Star Wars game. It was also the gateway to get me into modern board gaming and tabletop games.

Rebellion is a criminally underrated game. And I can't believe it only ever got one Rogue One based expansion. They could add so many different things to the game, especially Rebels content. I found your idea on limiting how long you can build certain units very interesting. Have you by any chance played Britannia? Another FFG game. It's a game that takes like 16 hours to play, and requires like 4-6 players. The game begins with the Roman invasion of 43 A.D., continues through the many struggles between the Angles, Saxons, Picts, Norsemen, Scots, Irish, and other tribes, and ends with the Norman invasion of 1066. So it spans about 1000 years. At various historic dates throughout the game the types of units you can field change. Your current units suddenly stop being trainable, but are replaced by different units. It's a very fun game that requires a lot of strategy. But at the same time it's almost something you can just phone in and not take too seriously.

I got Rebellion and it’s expansions based off of your reviews. There’s an awesome video out there of how to play ultimate Rebellion; every battle results in an Armada game, then every Starfighter engagement starts an x-wing game! Every ground invasion initiates a Legion game. I’d love to try it some day.

Agreed, this game HAS to have Thrawn. Incomplete without him. An idea I've had for an expansion: A criminal syndicate/Hutt faction where you win through subversion, like in Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. It would add a third player and you don't acquire planet loyalty, but you gain production and victory through setting up smuggling operations, etc. A board expansion with more outer rim planets would also be a great way to add content to this game without breaking the core concept. The Empire would just need a few more probe mission cards to offset.

Adding scum units would be a awesome common resource for both players. Even as one off's to help affect either side. Having a Clone Wars variant would be great as well.

I'd like to see formalised solo rules. There are some fan made ones but they are still open to interpretation.

Hell yeah, Rebellion has only one expansion based on Rogue One and we still have Rebels, Mandalorian etc. to cover. Meanwhile it's counterpart War of the Ring has 3!

I think a clone wars era version would be cool

Love Rebellion. The only issue I have is that there is no danger to the heroes when they go on missions. It would be better if it really could be alternate storyline. One where Luke turns to the Darkside or the Hutts join the Rebellion.

I bought this game because of you. I love it. I would drop whatever it took to buy a clone wars version, For the Republic! I also would definitely get a Deluxe Edition if they made it

By far my favorite part of this game is the project cards. I would love to see a project card focused on the Emperor's secret cloning project, but idk how it would fit game mechanic wise. A new version with an alternate galaxy map probably more feasible and change up gameplay.

Rebellion is one of the best games in the SW set-up along with Imperial Assault. On the 2 player games in ALL senses is the BEST one. Asymmetric, tense... I love it!!

That's an excellent idea.Would be really refreshing to get some new content for this game. A Clone Wars adaptation would be amazing.

Be great having an official solo rules for it.

I've always wondered how hard it would be to create a generic 'sector', where you could play out a generic campaign without all those pesky OT heroes. An imperial taskforce faces off against rebel insurgents, but no Luke, Vader, Han, etc. etc. Lots of hidden movement for the rebels.

This is my favorite 2 player game. I don’t get it to the table enough due to the length. Loved every play of it always super tense for both players.

Rebellion is great and will never shy away from getting this to the table. But for a cheaper option that does no skimp on production, Star Wars Risk (Black Series) is excellent. All centered around the battle of Endor, it covers all the themes!

I’m shocked that combat was not mentioned. The game really breaks down in combat and is almost perfect outside of that. The expansion just made it wonky in different ways, and you can really tell it was just bolted on. This really NEEDS a 2nd edition. The good changes from the expansion can be incorporated, and then we could get some updates in the way of aesthetics as well. That said, I don’t think the core game should include anything outside the original trilogy (possibly Rogue One being the exception). With all the Star Wars games being released, I feel as if Rebellion is the last bastion of being able to relive the original movies. However, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to have other content as expansion modules that are not necessary for gameplay. From there, the ideas are endless. Realistically, it could be a 3-4 player game with expansion modules, along the lines of Dune/Root (e.g. have Bounty hunters that have a win condition of helping an ally to win, but they can only ally at a certain point in the game). I also think a clone wars version (possibly “Star Wars Republic”) is a great idea.

The expansion I want is map based u add a few things that u want but the biggest part would be the current map is a half circle galaxy so just add the other half of the galaxy u could even leave a slice that says unknown regions

A Clone Wars standalone game would be fantastic (there‘s already the Pandemic-style cooperative game but I think there‘s room for both). Also, I would very much enjoy a scenario-style expansion that would cover the era of Imperial Remnants („Mando-era“), where the tables are turned and the New Republic tries to manage reemerging cells of the Empire. Personally, I think the Rise of the Empire era is too close to the Galactic Civil War era, but I‘d be happy about it anyway. Deluxe components and inserts are available from third party suppliers (etsy et al.) and FFG usually does not do deluxe versions, so I would not get my hopes up. Anyway, more Rebellion is never a bad thing 🙂👍

My favorite Star Wars game ever was X-Wing. I just liked the mechanics and the very competitive game design it had.

Andor expansion and Rebels expansion would be awesome.

I had fun with the few games of Rebellion that I did play, but it takes a while to finish, could be too long for some.

This one was always on my radar but I never took the plunge… Is it still worth it to pick up now?

I own Rebellion & the expansion however I have not played it. I wouldn't want another edition (because I haven't played it) but I'd be open to another expansion. We got an Expansion to War of the Ring (2nd edition) approximately 6 months ago and Rebellion (from what I know) plays similarly

Agreed, it needs an *hushed tones* EU expansion. Also I say Armada is my favourite game. Takes less time.

Love this game. Got it from my 40th played it a few times since. I don’t know what you’re talking about with Empire always wins so far the rebels have won.

I would probably look to take more stuff from the original game from 98 to expand, would seem suitable. Although most of those characters are not popular these days aside from Thrawn.

I bought the game but haven't played it yet. I kind of got into Star Wars bug from your content. I started with Armada, then into legion , had to stop at not buy shatter point. I bought Rebellion and the expansion with something I hope I can play with kids when they get bit older. I now playing mostly SWU and loving it and some legion . Armada I love but the community dead here where I am. Defo want to explore Rebellion . I do have a question and it's not SW. I kind of looked back and bought Battle Star Galatica. Loved the series and bought a brand new game but with it being nearly 12 years old I can't seem to located the expansions. Was wondering if you knew some site or stores I could located the expansions and ship overseas

I am going to get this I think, with the intent in Using it with Armada and Legion and really over complicating it lol.

I've not watched this yet but I thought I'd comment before hand and then see what you put. I love Rebellion its great, one of my games of choice when catching up with a old friend for a coffee afternoon, which is always made better with a board game. More content I'd buy instantly, but what I really want is a Clone Wars varient, where the factions are much closer in military ability and that's reflacted with a bit more depth on combat. It would be a excellent war game using the same style of core systems. I'd support the hell out of that, I am bias as I'm a huge fan of that era of star wars, but I'd like a more wargame focused version, it would be really cool.

Rebellion is very good, I'd say a solid 8/10. The perfect asymmetric war game is War of the Ring, IMO. Assuming I have the right group of players, I think Outer Rim (w/expansion) is my favorite SW game right now.

I would like to see a Star Wars game that looks and plays like Star Trek ascendancy but Gale force nine also in Star Wars rebellion how about removing some of the planets that got destroyed over the timeline interesting thing

WOTR is a better two player game however Star Wars Rebellion is a close second for me! The Rogue One expansion is a must have for me

I wouldnt add anything devisive like Mandolarian. To many pro and against like the new movies and if your gonna add mandolarian then might as well add new movies. If not its fairly bias.. I also wouldnt call 2014 rebels a classic. Currently most star wars casuals have no idea about the show even. I mean.. not many people watched clone wars. I mean hardcores sure.. but thats a small faction of the base of Star Wars fans. Having said that.. the clone wars as a separate game is a good idea.
