Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Cutscenes (Game Movie) 1997 

I first played this on the N64 growing up as well. Didn't even know about PC gaming back then lol.

This was my first videogame I ever played and it was of course N64 I couldn't afford a computer until a few years ago!

Well, consider the limitations they had with the cartridge. On the N64, Shadows of the empire was a launch game for the system that shipped on an 8 MB cartridge, there was no way they could have fit video on the N64 at launch especially in a cartridge that small. Meanwhile the PC version came out a year after the original on the 64 and was shipped on a CD which had a whole ton more storage space than an N64 cartridge. So I wouldn't say it wasn't fair and that it was more of them working within their limitations.

@@chrisfratz Thanks for the explanation, all makes sense. Also I was joking when I said it wasn't fair. Of course there were limitations especially when compared to PC. I still loved the game on N64 game. I actually recently bought an N64 to replay this game and a few others from my childhood.

Sadly won’t happen because of Disney owning StarWars now.

I think with the amount of ports that have come out recently of games like Ep1 Racer, Jedi Knight (Outcast and Academy) and a few more, this should really come up next. I’d love to play this on Switch

The new trilogy is trash. Disney is trash. Lucas was better off keeping it himself instead of giving it to Disney to fuck it up.

In 1997 I went on a campaign to get an n64 for my 12th birthday. Come November 1st I received an n64, this, Doom 64 and a memory card. At the time, this was next-gen unlike anything ever seen. Although it seems to run and look a bit better on PC and the cutscenes and added voice-over are nice additions.

Yet the special additions are still in the Disney film. They just are telling other stories. It took 13 years for Dash Rendar to become canon. The idea was to create a story set between the films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and to explore all commercial possibilities of a full motion picture release without actually making a film. At least Disney is trying to make a cohesive narrative within its video games, comics, novelizations, other related books, animations and it's live action content. The EU was never canon in Star Wars according to George Lucas and Disney is striving to put in EU material and original material into their storytelling that is more vast than George Lucas's galaxy. I'm sorry you're discouraged with what Disney has done. But if you look up the facts and source material the EU was never canon and Disney is actually making a much bigger universe than George Lucas did in terms of cohesive narrative.

This game could really use a HD remaster, it could work it's not an overly complex game.

I was about to make my own comment about how spooky this game felt sometimes. I still feel it watching this PC version. I've never felt creeped out or worried when playing other Star Wars games. They usually are so action packed and upbeat. But SotE feels dark and dangerous. I like that feeling and hope a future Star Wars game can replicate it.

You guys hit the nail on the head.. the sewer level with the dianogas and that giant one in the end.. the creepy atmosphere along with having to read.. yes!!!

My best guess is the Empire brought one in disassembled and then reassembled it.

@@GameMovieVault I almost bought it on steam on a sale but reviews said ot had lots of issues with controllers, etc so I passed and just played N64.
