Even all of the 35mm prints weren't the same. There's a stereo mix and a mono mix. Believe it or not the mono mix is more "complete" than the stereo mix as it came out later. Then you have the 70mm 6 track releases which is also different unto itself. Fun stuff!

I had no clue it was even possible to have trouble with the bike stage. I remember playing it so many times as a kid, and I never failed unless I fell in the Sarlacc pit. You just keep hitting the rearmost rider until he dies, move onto the next, and just keep going. The only reason the riders are hard to catch here is because you kept speeding past them, if you stay with the rearmost rider then they go at a snails pace.

This is the most frustrating thing in the totality of all space-time. It's not a race! You're supposed to be attacking the swoop gang.

*MAJOR EDIT* Replayed the swoop level today just to test stuff out, and it is actually easier when you kill all of the bikers! What you have to do is use the dedicated "ramming" buttons (R and Z) to make Dash do a ramming maneuver to either the right or left of him. This works way better than trying to ram them manually by bumping into the back of a biker's swoop bike. As someone else stated, if you try to race past the bikers, the AI rubber bands to get even farther ahead of you. It may seem like it's slower to kill them, but in the long run, you can kill all the bikers way before they even think about getting to Luke. So, I stand corrected. I still maintain that it's not a fun level hahaha. *original post* It's actually easier to just rush past them. On easy mode it's, well, easier to destroy them, but for the most part, on higher difficulties it's better to just out-maneuver them as they are too far ahead to even ram into. The swoop level sucked back then, and it sucks forever.

***** you can't rush past them. It is a "rubber band" race. The goal is to destroy them and the game presents you with them one at a time for that reason. If you try to go fast they go even faster than it is possible for you to go.

I just want to say, man this game was a huge part of my youth back in the day. To see you guys go through the entire game in one month of James and Mike Mondays made my entire month. I've felt nostalgia from AVGN stuff before but never the kind of this magnitude. Thanks for making my Mondays guys and here's hoping that you'll make more Mondays of mine in the future!

This game was frustrating at times but very rewarding, when you beat the bosses. Also it really felt like being in a Star Wars movie as a kid. And once you play the levels over and over to find all the challenge points, you get really good at it.

To be honest, there is nothing wrong with the controllers in that section or in this game overall. I remember it from my childhood, and the issue never was its controllers.

One thing is beating a challenging game, like Castlevania I or III or Battletoads... and another thing is when the controls are so poorly designed that it's hard to play the game... and if you add bad navigation/zero instructions of what's your objective, then... yeah, it's bad.

Thanks for the videos guys. This four-parter brings back a lot of memories and angst. Great game (at certain points) though I think the opening Battle of Hoth is the best part. Would love to see you guys tackle the original Rouge Squadron game for N64 next, as it is awesome and even more punishing.

It CAN be a race of you want it to be. I remember replaying that level and beating it by taking the gang members out or just by navigating the level faster and getting to Luke with a bunch of the gang still racing behind me.

It's nice seeing you guys play through this. I actually owned this as a kid and finished it multiple times. I even got good at the swoop part and could finish it on one or two attempts. That sewer level scared me as a kid though.

VixXstazosJOB Bad controls is part of what makes a game end up being bad. Yes. No, it isn't the only thing (unless the game is actually unplayable, IE half the games for kinect that aren't dancing). If the game doesn't hold up whatsoever today, then yes, maybe it wasn't the masterpiece it was made out to be.

Bounty Hunters is ranked right up there behind Shadows, Rogue Squadron Trilogy and the OG Battlefront. Excellent game and yes quite difficult.

this is my favorite style of the show thus far. It totally retains its' value in terms of rewatchability. Mike if you're out there listening, i hope you guys start zeroing in on doing more of these. I think this is really the crux of a wonderful Mike and James Monday. I hope you do more of these. There are plenty of games and plenty of Mondays, but you two don't have to play them all, maybe just beat the games you guys have always wanted to get to the end of. There has got to be more than enough of those.

The added scene with Jabba is stupid. Anything we need to know about Jabba and how he relates to Han Solo is explained with the conversation between him and Greedo and at the beginning of Empire when Han says that bounty hunters are after him and that there's a price on his head. In addition to this, before that scene was added, there was a mystique to Jabba. No one knew what he looked like. He was mysterious and weird. And then that big reveal in Jedi: He's a giant disgusting slug of a kingpin. Minds are blown. That's just how I feel about it.

the stupidest change they ever made to the original trilogy is adding in vader yelling "Noooooooo" when the emperor was zapping luke. it ruined the intensity and emotion of that scene and pretty much ruined the entire trilogy for me.

The swoop bike level was actually my favorite level in this game when I was younger. All it takes is practice and level memorization. I used to be able to speed through the majority of the course alone, because I could deal with all the enemy bikes in rapid succession. I found it to be the easiest level in the game - way easier than Ord Mantell, the sewers, or Xizor's Palace.

Wrong. This is a very good game. Mike & James just don't know how to play the game; don't let how badly they play fool you into thinking this is a bad game. And yes, I replayed this game recently. Hell, I even got all the Challenge Points (which I never done before). This game still holds up today. It's way better than the linear, dumb down, hand-holding, condescending games of today, that are basically interactive movies, that forget the "game" part of "video GAME".

Actually, back then we were used to frustration because of bad controls and lack of "normal" things in todays games. So we just sucked it up and tried over and over again until we managed it. kids back in the Nintendo/Sega era actually had to try things out themself since we didn't have the internet to help us.

A "Nova blast" would be like a rainbow, always a perfect circle from any angle you look. (the bottom half of a rainbow is normally blocked by the ground).

***** I was only able to get past the train stage when I was younger by using the hidden cheat menu. It gave you invulnerability for a time and all the weapons. Some of which I never could find ammo for the normal way like the flame thrower.

i probsbly spent more time on this than any other game as a kid. some of the most fun i've ever had with a game. never understood how such a great game got so much hate. i recently tried playing it again and only made it a little past the boba fett boss fight, but still had a lot of fun with it. gonna beat it again one of these days.

I remember playing this game from my youth. Me and my brother saw the ad on TV and we were very excited about it, and the funny thing is that this stage was the one that we anticipated the most - in the ad they showed a scene from this level and it looked so awesome, and fast and badass. And then we get this game for christmas. Its fun and we cant wait to get to this stage. And when we got there we were so disapointed... Anyway, the key to this stage is taking it slow, only tapping on the throttle button and try to destroy the swoop gang one by one. That's why they put all the stuff in the way.

The Jabba inclusion scene in A New Hope was completely needless. Greedo already talked to Han about Jabba, and it was a great set-up for Jabba as this ruthless character. Having him appear in A New Hope just ruined that - not to mention he said *the exact same things* to Han that Greedo did!

+Alex Silva the one change that isn't touched up special effects i approve is putting the correct Emperor in TESB, however Lucas kept changing the dialog so i'm not even sure of that anymore.

That scene... my god. *When Han steps on Jabba's tail*, it's just the worst, cringiest moment in all of the original trilogy (maybe movies in general). It looks so fucking terrible, especially that specific moment in the scene; I can't believe they made that and thought, "this looks good enough to be in the most popular film of all time."

+Scott Johnson The issue with that is the plot line with Jabba was ALREADY set up with the Greedo scene. In fact Greedo is in the Jabba scene. It also preserves the mystique of Jabba because you hear about him for two whole movies before finally meeting him.

Jabba being in The New Hope completely ruined the surprise of what Jabba looked like. The original built up suspense, where fans would talk and wonder who he was and what he looked like. Without all the hype around him with the dancing, the chained up girl and all of his minions around him, he looked like kind of a pussy. When he finally showed himself in the third movie, it was a huge, "holy shit!" moment.

I love Shadows of the Empire. One of my favorite N64 games that I still play today. I still have the novel, which I read years ago when it came out, that expands on the story. Still have not beat it. I am, however, on the last 2 levels. Love ya James & Mike

Nick Miller I don't know but Blue is for Jedi guardians people who use the saber more than the force green saber users use the force more than their saber yellow are jedi healers and purple well purple didn't come into place until S. Jackson requested his saber to be purple. Purple is for people who mastered both light and dark side powers

btw doom had a map and there was a code to show where you and monsters were on the map....so mike might be thinking of that. code was iddt, and you had to use it twice to see objects and items. you pressed tab to get to the map, and you could also control the character from the map. it was an interesting mode

If you read the novel, and ignore the Hollywood "adaptation", the monster is actually smart. The monster begins to recognize Victor as his creator and begins to make references to himself as Adam comparing himself to the Adam of the bible. Hollywood is getting better though, since the Van Helsing film of 2004, they've been going away from Boris Karloff's version.

This was definitely the most entertaining game play through that I've ever seen!! Haha. The expressions on your faces through the game were so funny, and exactly what I would do. Hell I was making the same expressions just watching you guys play, lol. Coupled with the nostalgic feelings and emotions this game brings brack, it was just so awesome to watch. Hopefully next Monday will be just as good!

Jedi Academy has a speeder stage like Shadows of the Empire, with the main differences being setting (canyons instead of city streets) and weapons (a lightsaber to hack the other speeder bikes apart).

Also tighter controls, better camera angles, better graphics, and it JA was a PC game that came out years later. All in all JA is in every way superior to SotE... Also, lightsabers... Lightsabers raise that game to near perfection. Pulled off really well to, especially for a game on the Quake 3 Team Arena IDTech 3 Engine.

I'm seeing they both suffer in the bike stage since they started, but holy shit, I used to beat this stage so easily in my kid days and this was my favorite stage, I don't know if I AM too good or they are too bad haha LOL. But when I played I kill them all with R and Z(plz correct me if I'm wrong) instead of racing them, to tell the truth the most difficult part for me is the circular thing(don't know the name in english, sorry.) you have to pass in the end, I died so many times in that crap.

I've never seen Mike and James get so intense while playing a game. I remember I played this game on my N64 at the overlook hotel, when I had some spare time between writing. Needless to say it was pretty fucking hard and I gave up on the train level and just went back to playing Mario kart.

That bike stage made me so pissed when i was a kid that i broke the tv, and when i realised what i had done i got scared of what my parents would say when they came home so i trew it on the rug and draged it outside and buried it in the garden, to this day they still think someone stole it.

I used to have my dad's old Star Wars VHS tapes from the original trilogy. He had the version of Episode IV from when it was just called "Star Wars". None of the special edition horse shit. I'm so sad I can't find them anymore.

i have a pretty recent dvd set of the original trilogy, and the bonus discs have the unfucked with theatrical versions, its pretty nice, though there are numerous scenes that werent in the original versions, that are in the "special editions", too bad we cant get a version that has the extra scenes, just without all that georege lucas cgi vomit

There's a lot of games you shouldn't recommend if you're going to ignore the 2 buttons on the controller that allow you to complete the mission..............Just because you ignore the z and R button doesn't make the game suck, it just means you should prolly stick to Atari and nes games.

i remember after you beat the game, if you played on Easy mode, it wouldn't tell you if Dash Rendar is fine, and the game would tell you to play on Normal mode to find out what happened. One big difference from Easy and Normal mode: Easy mode always shoot where you aim, and on Normal the shooting might be off by a bit. One way to fix this off-shooting is to get your aim on the enemy and press the Z button (the button under the controller) to make your weapon shoot correctly. This is what i found out while playing at the time.

3:00 the thing about lightsabers, is if you were a smart force user, when you built yours you would make the activation mechanism only usable for other force users by putting it inside the hilt (button in the inside you use the force to push to activate it) so that anyone else picking it up would be fucked

Guys, I know its a difficult game, but its so sad you had such a difficult time finishing it on fricking EASY X) that 3 stage boss (whole, body, head) gets STUPIDLY difficult in the higher difficulties. You cant just stand and shot it like you did X) Its a GOOD game, although I do agree, the driving stage is CONFUSING because it doesnt specifies you HAVE to kill the guys. Although I'm surprised you didnt noticed it earlier.....If you see the map, when the game starts there's a very wide space in between each driver, but the closer you get to the end, the tighter everyone gets...that is because you CANT run beyond any guy, its like mario kart's rubber band system, they cling to your back and speed up if you drive past them. Except this one also speeds up the drivers ahead of you so that you just cant run past all of them I remember in hard I once beat all the guys except one, with my last life we both jumped for the round hoop and I managed to get the bitch to crash against the side of it X)

CGI is just unnecessary and expensive these days, especially since most cutscenes can be done in-engine. It was fine back in the PS1 era, but not so much now, what with 1080p and better gameplay engines.

I Am Legend. Great movie, shitty CGI, could be done with way less CGI and it could be way better. Just an example. I think, there is a good balance between CGI and non-CGI things. And in many movies, they really force the CGI thing way too much and use CGI for things that could be done better without it.
