Nyxato I can't bealive how menacing Hondo used to be.To be abble to hold your ground agiantsed a Jedi in a mele fight is very impressive, how come he never shown such skill in rebels. He is pretty much a buffoon in SW Rebels.
And Hondo goes from this - calling Jedi "scum" - to being a jedi sympathiser and referring to Obi-Wan as one of his best friends by the time of *Rebels*. That's character development.
+Randoman590 Losing everything and a big hardline no nonsense hyper powerful government with an iron fist taking over brings... perspective. As does age. And let's not forget, even after this, the Jedi saved his ass a few times.
+Batgirl #4 (KB) yeah, I rlly liked him, now he's Darth in rebels, how anakin? how could he betray the light side? I guess we will see what happens in season 3 of rebels, plz return to light anakin
It's a character from Mortal Kombat games. He is a badass Shaolin Monk who also loves tossing hat like Embo except his hat will cut you down like a fish from one swing.
That's one of the traits I like about Hondo, because he has his own moral code he lives by. As said by Jim Cummings, Hondo's voice actor "He is a bad guy, but he isn't a bad guy 'bad guy'."
Dave Filoni actually confirmed that classic reports of extraterrestrials and flying saucers served as the direct inspiration for Hondo and his crew lol
When Embo throws his mighty hat all who opposes his hat must yield unless you are a jedi, or Darth Maul or Death Watch then you don;t nessiasry have to yield
@@The_Shadow_Emperor canonically she survived and still worked as a hunter with her niece jas emari. Who was one of the main characters of the aftermath trilogy (the same where cobb vanth originates from). She also got the halo ship from sugi. And worked with embo and dengar during the battle of jakku.
Technically more like two years later but I was literally about to comment how Anakin would be eating those exact words considering the next time they met it'd be Embo who was trying to hunt him, lol
@Habba the Jutt finally someone who realizes that this is just plot armor. Even if Anakin wasn’t using the Force directly on Hondo, how was Hondo able to keep up with someone who’s one of the most skilled fighters of all time, can use the Force to augment his strength, speed, reflexes, agility, and so on, and can also anticipate your every move? Plot armor, that’s how.
@@WarriorofSunlight Anakin was clearly not going all out since he didn't want to kill or hurt him that bad. If he dealt with the Knightfall Version of Anakin who wouldn't put up with any BS then he would have been dead in 10 seconds.
Considering this is Anakin at the height of his powers, he could probably have ripped the tank in half with the Force alone. Yoda and Mace Windu have done similar feats, and Anakin has as much raw power as they do.
I still love the mutual understanding the Jedi have with Hondo. They know he's a pirate, and mostly just after wealth, and he knows they're Jedi, trying to keep the peace. No matter how many fights they had, there was always this respect of each others role.
Anakin in the clone wars movie:Imma destroy all these droids that were meant for battle Anakin here: ooo no bumpy ride and pirate has tank gremlin and zappy stick oo no
@@kevinmhazel748 Well if you look closely the hover tank they were standing on was stirring up a lot of dust which is a close relative of sand. Furthermore, Anakin had the low ground for most of the fight. With both of his weaknesses exploited at the same time, of course he was having a hard time
"Die, Jedi scum!" - Hondo, the Clone Wars, referring to Anakin and Obi-Wan "My best friend was a Jedi..." - Hondo, Rebels, referring to Anakin and Obi-Wan Hondo, decide which team you're on.

NinjaTyler I know he's a mix, but there are moments where it feels like they're not really balancing him. Then again, the Empire took his whole crew from him, he doesn't really have the power he once had, so that could be partially why.

Vlad the Impaler Exactly! Yeah he was funny in Clone Wars, but that wasn't his entire character like it seems to be in Rebels. Also, he lost his entire crew...surely that would have been an interesting subject to cover in the show.
Vlad the Impaler Well to be fair, he is older, crewless and out of shape, he has to rely more on charisma and wit to get what he wants. However he doesn't seem charismatic or witty, more like a overextending buffoon with half a plan...

I am Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One! I am the greatest pilot in the galaxy, the mightiest Form V lightsaber stylist in history and have Force power beyond even Yoda! ...And I'm struggling to disarm one measly pirate. With no Force abilities. At close range. Uh...don't mention this to Padme, okay? Or Palpy. Or anyone. Seriously. Nobody needs to hear about this.
@@arminreindl7742 I know that this is three years old, but "Corona-class armed frigate" just gained some extra context that makes it absolutely hilarious.
The more clone wars I watch the more I see how combat prowess are not consistent amongst its episodes. One episode you got a jedi singlehandedly destroying a tank, the next one you have a jedi getting killed by one spear thrown from nowhere. Now I get that you got the force that tells and not tells you stuff and that Jedi have to be contemplative about how they use their powers and all that, but after 6 seasons it's obvious that it become a trope. The 'last ditch force push' that allows them to escape a ost battle though it would've also thrown their enemy off a cliff if used 20 second earlier (making them victor not refugee), or sensing an assassin ambushing them but still tripping over a log during a chase. I like the animations, and the story is cool. Its still kinda silly though. Definately not something I take very seriously.
+Ultimaton100 Uhhoh.. Yeah I can see that some writers have wrote that Jango Fett killed six jedies in pure melee combat alone.. So yeah.. I guess it's possible then though I still think that SHOULDN'T be possible, but with PIS everything is possible. :D
Also the Mandalorian Wars in ancient times, they used bladed weapons like swords and axes laced with lightsaber-proof cortosis alloys to fight Jedi. Granted most true Mandalorians aren't pirates so I can see your point in this particular case.
+Ryan Joseph Yup atleas they let the " bad " guys kill. Not like the jedi who fight clumsy with their lightsabers and almost every pirate or villain can beat them 1v1.
What I loved about Clone Wars is that Anakin started off as a nice guy in season 1-3, he was somewhat loyal to the Jedi way and that was proven by saving Hondo, even though he's an frenemy. By the time of season 4-Rots, Anakin became a different person and it ain't mainly his fault.
Yeah, he was pretty chill in Season 1, with very few Dark Side moments. It wasn't until Season 2 that we started to see him get closer to his destiny, but it was still under control for the most part.
@@GooglyMoogly68 I Hope that Ahsoka, Hondo, Rex, Cody, Bo-Katan, R2, 3PO, Lux and even Ezra are sad that Anakin sacrifices himself killing Palpatine in return of Jedi. :'(
Luke Comet Which one ? It wouldnt change anything since original trylogy was produced before clone wars u get it ? Same thing in rebels when saw gerrera was about to die but he had plot armor and couldnt be killed since he was in rogue one which Disney produced in 2015 and rebels episode with Saw came up in 2016.
Paweł Nev yes, i get that obi-wan has plot armor and stuff, but what i meant is that if they for some reason decided to kill him, than people would freak out because it would totally screw up continuity
lmfao, Hondo is almost adorable, when you get over how many people die because of him...and you know, that one time he almost sold Ahsoka into weird slavery to a client that wanted a specifically female jedi, but didn't want her specifically alive... Yeah, lol, almost.
Anakin: "You ignored the rules of engagement - In a fair fight I'd kill you." Hondo: "Well that's not much incentive for me to fight fair then, is it?"
am i the only one that thinks, the clone wars is the best thing in star wars. the clone wars made anakin my fav character, the clone wars saved the old republic saga for me, the clone wars had fights that are awesome... the prequels where enjoble, originals where good but fight scenes where bad cuz of the old production. so star wars universe is a good well done universe with a few plotholes but im a fan, but clone wars is what made me a fan
How did hondo go from calling obi wan “jedi scum” to saying he was one of his best friends, and then to actively aiding the resistance in the span of about 50 years
Hondo Ohnaka is one of my favourite Star Wars characters. It would be really cool to see him in live action. Who knows? Maybe he will end up in 'The Mandolorian' or the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
"This effort! Is no longer! Profitable!" has the same energy as "You will always remember this as the day that you almost caught. Captain. Jack. Sparrow!"
that one bounty hunter that uses its hat as captain america's shield. bad ass also that one episode the Jedi are actually doing their duty protecting civilians from outside oppressors.
It's bullshit that Anakin should have any difficulty dueling Hondo whatsoever. A Jedi like Anakin should literally be able to move faster than a non force user like Hondo can even react. The "duel" should be practically over in the first blow or two.
Chad, Mandalorians have specifically trained & used weapons to combat force-users for millennia, & even they lost the war with the Jedi. Hondo is no Mandalorian, either. He's very street-smart & is no pushover, but he should've been child's play for Anakin. Remember, Anakin & Obi Wan held off a clan of Night Brothers who attacked them, as well.
Hondo is the best character because he has so much plot armor he will never die. He literally manufactures plot armor. He is unkillable. Even stronger than sidious.
Im so glad Hondo wasn’t just a “Villain of the Week” character who died after his fight with Anakin. The Clone Wars really knew when they had a good character on their hands. (Unlike Rebels.)
