Rex: "What's our plan of attack sir?" Anakin: "Follow Me..." **Does a double backflip onto the droid hes aiming for and ignites lightsaber** Rex: "Easier said than done..."
Rex: What's our plan of attack sir? Anakin: Follow me. (proceeds to fall several feet while doing a ninja flip) Rex: ...Not all of us are fucking space ninjas, sir.
@@ThaGhostGhodthat would suggest that Tony fucking Stark, the man who is called "the futurist", still watches kids movies even after he's more than 10 years old.
+Smart Sam Studios "Ashoka Tano... I fought by her side from the Battle of Christophsis to the Seige of Mandalore, and a friend of hers, is a friend of mine."-Captain Rex 4 BBY
+Brandon Yan That doesnt make any sense,Rex said that he was with Ahsoka till the siege of Mandalore so it should have happened before she got expelled?
+Zan chou It makes sense from a strategic standpoint. You stay there and the droids will overwhelm your position. Same thing you would do if you are fighting charging zombies. You NEVER hunker down. So just take advantage of a droid's stupidity and kill them close because they won't react as a human would.
+Samuraiedge2 The thing is, the clones had an advantage staying behind in cover. Sure, against zombies that might be useful but these droids have BLASTERS and they know how to use them. So the clones getting up front like that is a risky and bold move. Heck, they even have Heavy Cannons! Just place the clones far enough back and let the cannons do the dirty work.
the clone wars was basically the star wars equivalent of World War I. New technology meets old, traditional battle techniques and formations. the clones don't take cover very often, and frequent attack charges
That explains the iffy tactics and strategies of both sides. No one had fought in a galactic scale war in 1000 years so naturally, everyone will be rusty in how to properly fight in a full scale war. Even the Jedi were massively out of practice and struggled to adapt to their new environment. One of the few exceptions was of course Anakin who was like the Jedi during the Sith Wars of old, ready for combat at the drop of a hat and able to tear through enemies with ease.
The sounds those Tripod droids make at 1:03 is just beautiful. Remember hearing it in the theaters and being so impressed and awed! The Clone Wars is an awesome TV show!
1:38 "Come on then! Let us surrender our tactically sound position and run out into the open to die in droves!" Truly the Jedi are masters of tactics T_T
What's worse is that the Jedi General leading the defense in question is f**king OBI-WAN KENOBI. He was known for his well-planned tactics. Then along came this show...
Low Gunfire He was a master of the defensive form so running into battle with his troops deflecting the shots while they shot back made sense and the show clearly displays that so...and jedi weren't really good tacticians in war other than a few so its not surprising.
Walter Kovacs Defensive form with a lightsaber. Aka: lightsaber. The jedi weren't military strategist just defenders of the republic who got the status of general on the battle field so you shouldn't expect ace tactics in battle. The cover he was in was just icing on the cake, he needed his troops to fire while he deflected the bolts back which is one of the specialties that lightsaber form has.
This plane drives me a little crazy because of the fact that Obi sends his clones out of cover to launch a near suicidal charge. Anakins flank is brilliant since it diverts enemy attention and causes chaos in the enemy ranks, but wouldn't it be more effective for Obi-wans forces to intensify fire while anakin flanks?
Yo I was thinking exactly the same thing, only thing else I could think of was the need to keep the cannons out of range of advancing fire, but even then they could've set up snipers nests etc to hold them ahead of that point. Hardly the mark of a master Jedi tactician ahaha
***** dunno man, tactics can be fun and why should it be fun watching tonnes of good guys get sacrificed? only thing it made me think was how some clones would be glad to get order 66
The Salty Roman This is a bit late so you might already know but it's called "the last battle" and features Rex and the Jedi fighting against some droids who survived and didn't get shut down
It's because of the animation. It works on tv since you are only viewing it through the small screen but graphics like this don't work on the big screen as the animation looks dated. If this film was released as a pilot on tv to support the Tv series then it probably would have been well received.
+joren peters The Movie was nominated a raspberry award for worst picture but lost to Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The Tv series on the other hand was well received for its storytelling.
+XDJoker Ha Ha If Lucas told the creators of the show there was going to be a theatrical film and gave the them the proper resources. They could have created something spectacular. Instead converting a bunch of episodes meant for tv into a theatrical film at the last second. Oddly enough, those episodes are also some of the weakest for the entire show. I think lot of the money that the movie made in the box office went later towards producing the show. Which was really expensive. So it isn't all bad.
Man I remember watching this movie as a kid when it came out on theatres. I loved it so much and while I understand many view the later seasons of The Clone Wars as far superior, I personally love it all from start to finish
I know this is a 5+ year movie, but I just noticed the sound effect in 0:42 gives a pretty outstanding perspective at how immediate and coordinated the Clones and Jedi are to each other when adhering to combat commands.
God I remember watching this scene in theaters as a kid for the first time. It was intense, gritty, fast. The best blaster fight in Star Wars at the time. From that point on, I knew I’d love the Clone Wars.
In retrospect, it makes sense why the series starts out with a more action and adventure feel...and ends with a sad, jaded, bitter note. It's basically the same as WWI with everyone going in thinking it's going to be this grand adventure filled with honor and glory...and ending up being something far darker.
God this brings back so many memories. I was 8 when this movie first aired, and all I wondered what is what happened during the clone wars after watching the movies when I was 6. Needless to say, this was the most perfect introduction.
I remember how weird it felt to see my favorite Star Wars characters in an animated form in theaters for the first time. 6 seasons later, it feels natural to me
And something to remember. Clones were apparently “A LITTLE TOO VICIOUS” for storm troopers so they had to be replaced because they were too OP. Plus the Chip kind of dumbed them down after it was used to execute Order 66. The chip not only mind controlled them, but it also kind of made them dumber like livening droids. BUT EVEN THEN they were still too malicious for the empire or at least for storm troopers. Up to the point where other storm troopers WERE TERRIFIED of the clone troopers in the storm trooper ranks. So that’s also a pretty cool fact.
this is a movie im sure this is an episode but it i went back and rewatched season 1 and 2 and havent seen this, there is an episode that involves christophsis but it dosent show te battle and the next episode goes to a different place.
+César Cabrera They were originally meant to be the first four episodes of the show, but George Lucas apparently went up to the creators and said he wanted a movie.
Just realize how stupid the separatist general is portrayed to be: "Cannons?! This will never do." So his tanks and infantry were being continuously destroyed by huge explosions and he didn't know those were cannons until a droid told him.
3:26 And you could have done that a lot sooner? Separatists love to waste their precious battle droids. If they would have attacked with a deflector shield, it would have saved a countless droids.
Deflector shields limits their firing range too. Its only means an advantage, if the enemy have much more artillery firepower. Its main goal, to not let high speed projectiles in, but that means, it stops the outgoing projectiles too.
I still love the sound of the magma tri droids firing their canons. Best sound effects out of any franchise ever. AT-TEs firing back would have been perfect.
and full frontal assault against AV-7 cannon operators who can aim (this sounds weird since this is star wars where nearly all cannon operators cant aim for shit) is suicidal.
This is why clone wars is and always will be the best and most realistic depiction of starwars ever. They weren't afraid to show death, like how the first trooper to leave the trench is immediately killed
Can we take a moment to talk about the storytelling in this scene alone. Bad army comes in full force. Our heroes rush into action making a quick plan. Our big hero The chosen one gathers one team to ambush the bad army while the rest of the army prepares for battle. The bad army closes in with their giant weaponized tanks and the hero’s army takes heavy loses in bad cover. The chosen one comes to the rescue finally to distract the giant enemy tanks just as they were about to overwhelm the hero’s army. With the enemy’s army’s giant tanks distracted, loyal hero’s army charges head first into into enemy fire to battle the enemy army on even footing now. Destruction and blood on both sides as both the enemy army and the hero’s army both suffer great loses until the chosen one destroys one of the enemies giant tank. All of the sudden the enemy army is disorganized as their prized giant tanks goes down like dominos. The chosen one then destroys the last of the enemy’s giant tanks allowing his loyal army to push into the enemy lines, causing the bad army to retreat and the battle is won by the hero’s.
The clones here are maximum 10 years old while Anakin himself here is a venerated war hero at the age of 19. A lot of people thought that it was unrealistic, but I thought it was perfect. It showed just what a talented and amazing man Anakin was at such an early age. It really sells the tragedy of him falling to the dark side. It's almost Luciferian. The greatest and most wondrous of the Jedi fell from grace and into the depths of Hell he went. No one cares if Billy from down the street falls to the dark side. It isn't interesting or tragic. Of course some normie would. But this was *Anakin.* Hero of the Clone Wars. Inspiration to those around him and even us the viewers. Just his presence could give you a sense of hope and conviction that the battle wasn't lost. To see him and all his talent and soul twisted into the demonic Sith that he became is like a gut punch.
2:54 Don't be confused by the blue markings on some of the clones, because those aren't 501st clones, they're actually clone lieutenants. This is still 22BBY the beginning of the clone wars and the clone commanders with the yellow armor indicates that.
If you boys didn't know, the Jet Troopers with Rex are actually Denal, Hardcase, Kix and Jesse. The two clones with 212th Markings at 2:53 are actually Waxer and Boil.
Watching this as well as the First battle of Geonosis, it feels like the Clone Wars has many similarities to World War 1, especially how widescale the war was, the way the troops were fighting in the open with little cover, and the whole mechanization of a modern war. Not to mention running straight into enemy fire despite the overwhelming firepower being thrown at you. That's just how it looks to me.
i think the reason were the tri droids in the back, they weapon is strong enough to ignore cover and deal aoe damage, so by charging they can avoid being massacred by the tri droids I think this was the case of "which is the least worst choice of action"
