In the game, the Super Battle Droids were hard as f**k to kill. The show and movies toned them down and made them boring. Even commandos had trouble killing those things.
Geez Super Battle droids made me rage quit a lot of times. They were like 100 times stronger than regular battle droids. 5 battle droids show up + i dont have grenades left = i go cry in the corner
Because he's a soldier, and like all soldiers, they risked and sacrificed their lives for others, just like those in world War 1 and 2, every soldier fighting for their people is a hero
It's one with no way of receiving backup or rest with a simple blaster vs hundreds to maybe thousands. Let's remember he is not force sensitive, yet he took on the odds with basic equipment. There's a difference between those who just want a high K/D (droids) to those who have someone worth fighting for.
They apparently stated that the combination of the damage he took from that blast, coupled with the surgery of removing his chip, permanently damaged his psyche. It's why he sounds so different.
Funny thing is, the reason why he went alittle coo-coo in Rebels is because of his control chip removal. Something went wrong and it gave him brain damage.
I broke into tears when I heard him say "Its been an honor serving with you colonel. Don't worry about me, you made me remember who I am. I'll make my way home, I promise. NOW GO!!!" - Commando Gregor
Real life military soldiers do this on regular basis doing what's right even putting themselves in the Frontlines of the enemies to save innocent lives of citizens and children some do sacrifice themselves to save other lives and there comrades
Gregor, the Noble 6 of Star Wars The Clone Wars. This is what I loved about this series. They actually gave the clones characters instead of just being living droids.
while yes Chief is the main character and signature badass of Halo. i think the only spartan that comes anywhere close to him, if not tied with Chief, is 6. hell i think a fight between Chief and 6 would b better then his fight with Locke
Yup, usually Clones involved in situations like this would die in thay explosion. But Gregor surviving a really bad explosion and some other things from the war will leave its mark
@@spencersholden to a degree I think that’s how it was supposed to be But when you wanna genetically clone a human, you can’t completely remove certain things that make them, human
@@RM-jq5vi Always wondered if those clone technicians were just cadets that failed proper combat trainings and were just assigned to star destroyer crews
I love how in this scene Gregor’s armor is built like a tank. But as soon as he gets Empire armor in the Bad Batch. He gets wounded in 1 shot but here he survives getting blown up lol.
That's because he's wearing katarn class commando armor which is ridiculously strong. In Canon it's pretty strong being able to tank most light arms fire and explosions. In EU a commando jumped on top of a grenade and all it did was shake him up a little and it could tank shots all the way up to light cannon rounds not to mention the EU version also had halo style recharging deflector shields. A wrist mounted retractable vibro blade, tactical hud and display was EMP hardened and was resistant to verpine shatter rounds which are shot out of a Verpine shatter gun which is basically a handheld railgun. Yeah it's pretty amazing armor.
IF I recall CORRECTLY. Storm Trooper Armor was very low cost and only meant to maybe save the wearer from low pressure/vacume's, and from 1-2 small arms fire shots at most. It was cheap and low quality. This was done purposefully due to the fact that part of the reason the republic died off was due to economic mismanagment. Part of which was brought about from the quality of the armor the clone trooeprs had. Those troopers had some pretty badass armor, even the normal troopers. It spread the impact and energy of small arms fire throughout the suit to lessen overall damage. A Trooper could be shot a couple of times and be fine or moderately injured. Whereas STORM trooper armor was basically just light plating and a sealed suit. The advanced Clone trooper armor's were no friggin joke. They knew the worth of the higher skilled troopers and they did -not- want to loose them.
It's amazing how Dave Filoni makes you feel for a character whom you only know for around 10-20 minutes. Now THAT is what you call great character development and talent.
@@relaetsecyr yeah well that's what u get for milking the clone wars.just let it die honestly. it was good but we need new non sjw and other crap stuff
+Brandon Barcia Gregor was never part of Delta squad as they are the only squad to remain with the same pod brothers. Gregor might have trained and serve with Delta but is never Delta.
Brandon, I do wish you were right though. Since Sev was taken away, and we don't currently know what happened to him. I really do hope they have another Star Wars Republic Commando's game..
@@ImmaLittlePip 80? There was 10 thousand at the first battle of geonosis. Roughly 5 thousand casualties (much higher then regs) with like two thousand deaths. The more commandos were here it would have been worse for them. They aren't good at working with each other unless it's there own personal squad
This scene really stuck with me when I was 13. At the time one of my older brothers was going to the military, and when the colonel said, "He`s doing what a solider does. Sacrificing himself for the lives of others." I always got a little emotional; because in a way that was what my brother was doing. Thank God though he has not scene combat. I love him.
I mean in the crops we're also trained that out rifle is our gun. And that we never leave a Marine behind. Unfortunately I heard my school house banned lightsaber fights so we just got to hear fun stories about them
He means Gregor promised to make his way home and eventually he did. Side note but the one thing I disliked in this series is that they introduced the chip. Before that the viewer had to realize that the clones weren't good or evil, they were just soldiers following orders even if they disagreed with those orders. Now it can just be dismissed as good guys having no choice but to do something bad
Nausea, Palpatine is the leader of the Republic and they know this. If the President of the United States personally called every lieutenant and told them to kill their generals, they'd do it because he ranks above those generals. Granted there would be some dissenter, as there are in both canon and the EU, but for the most part the generals would die just like the Jedi did. The Clones were bred to follow orders through the Chain of Command. It was wired into their DNA by the Kaminaoans. Palpatine is at the top of that, with the Jedi below him. It's also worth noting that if the Jedi had been more politically savvy they could have done the same to him. There is an order that allows them to have the clones detain the Chancellor if they accuse him of being incapable to serve and the Senate votes in agreement.
``I'll make my way home, I promise!`` Honestly one of the best lines from one of the most Badass clones in the show. I love how they've made him crazy after this.
I'm late but I think what adds to the coolness of this scene is we see Gregor doing things we don't normally see in clones. Active dodging of bullets, accurate shots while running, tanking shots, and constant repositioning. I haven't watched the show in awhile but I don't recall any other clone even arc troopers doing these things to this extent. It gives context to gregor and what commandos are, a grade higher/superior to the other factions in smaller battles.
Same on being late to comment on this (saw this episode when it was fresh definitely was a nice change of pace if you know what I mean after preceeding episodes). Not to mention I like how they actually put the accurate fire nature from the DC-17M just like how it fired in game. It's one of my top all time favorite games of my life. Definitely top 3 alot of detail went into it when you really look at it & stop. Then think this was from 2005........... Again very surreal seeing them not just make a cameo but then also another completely different member being put in action. All time top favorite Star Wars characters.
Yohanes Evan Sometimes the Delta broke into somewhere, with these guys. There's no way the CIS could've prepared these for them, when it' a surprise attack.
super battle droids were a friggin pain. especially in the core ship where there is the chamber full of dormant ones. a point in the game where I'd always run of out ammo for my DC-17 and id be using my basic pistol.
+Rasta Toljin arcs are have flash training and phisichal training but commandos always traied by proffessional mandolorian officers ARCs are always in the forward side of battle but commandos nearly never fought on the forward side they are always work from background
Rasta Toljin i think arcs and commandos are equal arcs have very good training also commandos have same but commandos are created to work as a team arcs mostly work as squad(10-15 arcs) they are doing almost same work diffrence is arcs mostly guided by a jedi general (they sometimes work alone i know) commandos are working as squad (4 members ) and they almost never guided by a jedi (except the omega squad ) and also commandos are using elite dc 17 sets and katarn class armors (most advenced clone armor-self shield, bacta system ) commandos doing the most secret missions but arcs everytime working in sight
Rasta Toljin katarn Class armor and dc17 sets are not newest equipments they are developed same time as the other clone equipments they are superior because when commandos send to a mission they can't take reinforcement very long time but arcs can take reinforce because of it their equipments are light may be commandos are clones but they are very different person (remember scorch :) if we're all clones than why I'm only one have sense of humor )
What makes this scenes epic is that Gregor is one of the only soldiers that sacrificed himself. The majority of soldiers don't sacrifice themselves, the majority of soldiers are sacrificed
“He’s doing what a soldier does, sacrificing himself for the lives of others”. This is is what it means to be a clone and a soldier of any nation when he said this I cried 3:32
was it sacrifice though? Other were already going to make it and could have picked him too, him staying made no difference except killing some more droids
Red is a universal indicator for a flammable, volatile, and or explosive substance. In the real world fire triangles and fire diamonds use red to indicate what I've stated. In addition it is also just common sense like red is the color of normal, vanilla fire so without even the knowledge of the standards we can indicate it's volatile. look both of them up.
He wasnt really comic relief. Gregor was there to show how the clone wars left scars on everyone, and gregor was an example of how deep the scars could potentially be.
@@malcolmjenkins3585And execution was a painful failure. If that was ur viewing experience, then I'm happy 4 u. But the one scene where I actually FELT those "scars", was when Rex had brief PTSD moment when he saw droid general Kalani. *And that was it*. WHY? Meanwhile, everyone who I saw reacting to Gregor had the reaction as if he were Hondo 2.0. I can't blame them.
blazingwarp even after he wash dishes for months. His aim was on point. Like sev said some clones can reach full combat when they in the zone. I live the zone! Commandos are spec ops units they don't participate in large battles or get lead by Jedi
The best part about this is just looking at the comments and seeing all the people calling BS on how quickly Super Battle Droids die here compared to the blaster sponges they were in Republic Commando
The look from Gascon when Gregor said 'You made me remember who I am," made me so sad. It looked like he basically realized that he pulled this clone from an empty, albeit peaceful life into a suicide mission. Gregor was ready, of course, but it still looked like it hit Gascon hard.
My top 5 clone wars moments 1: Maul and Savage vs Sidious 2: Ahsoka leaving the order 3: Rex and the clones vs Krell 4: Fives death 5: Gregors sacrifice
I would like to add 2 more and that being the father's death on mortis when he reveals the anakin is the chosen one and also when anakin takes on the son and the daughter at once
"He seemingly sacrificed himself after shooting containers of rhydonium to destroy the droids that would have shot down Gascon's fleeing shuttle.[2] He survived however, and somehow made his way back to the Republic." starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CC-5576-39
Ügiustus Keiserus Well it’s good to know he removed his inhibitor chip and considering the shit he’s been through he’d either be crazy or one we classify as “The Nam Vet,” and you can’t really have that in a kids show. As Lando puts it, “I don’t like it. I don’t agree with it. But I accept it.”
I like that he survived. Adds to his badassness. Moreover, the fact that he is so insane shows that he went through some real tough shit to leave him brain damaged yet still survived
This guy is awesome. Reminds me of how badass republic commandos should be. The only innacurate thing here is (aside from the droids aim) that he kills Super Battle Droids with one hit! Those guys were so fucking scary in the game
Idk why people disliked this story arc... I loved following the droids for a few episodes. That pilot droid was sassy AF too. We were introduced to Gregor here and the combat, plot and comic relief were spot on throughout all of the episodes
Sadest part about this story? He did make it back, but by the time he did, the republic he fought for had transformed into exactly what he fought against.
HacaPotato Listen mate. Gregor should've died here, at least in the novel. But Disney ruined his character by making him "batshit crazy", and also ruined his moment of sacrifice.
Irsan heck no he didn't HAVE to die but disney making him crazy was the 2nd biggest mistake they made the 1st being the fact they made star wars legends NON canon
Just now appreciating that R2-D2 was the one to (frantically) suggest going back and picking up Gregor. R2, the most loyal, faithful, and true companion to any friend he makes, even one he only knows for a few brief moments. Shoutout to my astromech homie.
0:39 fun fact "Let's roll" were the last words of the passengers of United Flight 93 on 9/11 who took back the plane and put it into the ground to stop it from killing anyone else.
+Jake Warren Have you even watched Rebels? Sure it starts off a little kid-friendly-like, but so did The Clone Wars. But just like it, it eventually starts to get darker and cooler.
Can anyone explain why this was so emotional? “I’ll make my way home, I promise” is it the fact that we spent the whole episode watching an Epic clone commando spending his life as a dish washer with no ounce of bravery in him and then he remembers and goes out in a blaze of glory like the clones we know and love? Or is it just the music
It’s because “I’ll find my way home” wasn’t referring to him getting out alive. The fact that he did probably surprised him as much as us. He meant that he already was home. That was my understanding.
"Don't worry about me. You made me remember who I am. I'll make my way home, I promise!" Gave me chills when Gregor said that. Sad he sacrifices himself in Rebels. #ForTheRepublic
Someday, someone will see this but, Gregor’s best line is “I blew up” as he is causally shot by scorch 4 times and still walks it off like nothing happened. Imagine if the BB took him with them to kamino, filoni bad for killing off our boy.
