Select moments from Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl #starwars #empire #hollywood #hollywoodbowl #jedi #concert #concerts
Wow, I never thought I would see an orchestra perform "Battle in the Snow" live. "Empire Strikes Back" is still my favorite movie out of the ORIGINAL Trilogy and favorite score out of the 3. I can remember seeing this when it was first released in theaters at 6 years old, the days before social media ruined everything. Being a little kid in 1980 was fantastic, four years before Transformers and five years before the release of the NES. The future was lookin' mighty good.
Battle in the Snow goes so hard. There's not a lot of classical scores that are so intense and restless. It's definitely its own character and any orchestra that performs it uninterrupted deserves applause and a big glass of water afterwards.
I don't understand why people are getting up in arms over the audience reacting to the movie. It is brief and respectful. If you can't handle that then i feel very sorry for you. Perhaps you should stay home and watch it with headphones. Star Wars is meant to be enjoyed loud and with an audience.
29:19: Too bad they didn't use the original "Get my Shuttle!" dialog. Very cool. Too bad I didn't hear about this one. The only time I've been to something similar was the last time I went to the Bowl, in the Before Times, for their Humans In Space (for real) night. The Philharmonic played along to scenes from various movies such as The Right Stuff, Apollo 13, and Hidden Figures. I'm trying to remember what other movies. It seemed like half of JPL and SpaceX were there. (and the rest were probably stuck at work)
