No, see, that's not how it happened. Sometimes when you're writing a story you need a minor character to complete a few necessary tasks, but that hands you a dilemma: how to make this person at least a little interesting even though they exist for purely functionary reasons? The classic Star Wars answer is to give them a cool design--preferably with a helmet. Notice this is exactly what they did with Boba Fett too. And it works just fine--until people start complaining, because for some reason they don't catch on to what's really happening.
@@rebel1717 She had a way more dignifying defeat than Boba Fett and even served Finn's character arc. And since she's basically the sequels Boba Fett, that's pretty good.
@@geekforeverpixelgamingsurl5007 Boba fett was never supposed to be as famous as he is.... He was litrally just a bounty hunter.... Never the main Villain.... That's why George Lucas didn't think too much about taking him out like a bitch
I find it very stupid that a lot of hype went into captain phasma yet not only does she hardly do anything worth noting, but she is thrown away in the most humiliating way possible!
How do you figure? Aside from Finn, it's not like we came to know any of the troopers and aside from the Riot Control Trooper (FN-2199) none of them really stood out and did anything.
I honestly don't care that she didn't get much screentime. Yeah, it's absolutely stupid when you look at how much they marketed her as a major villain, but what counts is the performance. Gwendoline Christie absolutely killed it and I'm excited to see more of her. Preferably at my side >\\\>
Even though she had about ninety seconds of screen time in that movie, I liked her character more than that over-powered Mary Sue and the token black guy.
pdoll96 Well. tbh I did appreciate that they paid homage to ANH but then again it can really bite them in the ass if they keep doing it. I'm sure Episode 8 will somehow be similar to ESB as in it's focused on the Dark Side. But you know all these nods (and sorry for going off track here but I think Rogue One had wayyy too many references and easter eggs to stand on its own) are fine as long as they don't shove them at you constantly. They have to be original with a solid adventure/action story of their own.
How does she still have fans? She was all flash, no substance. She was a COWARD. She deactivated the shields, and doomed the whole base because she didnt want to die. Thats less loyalty then nearly any random Storm Trooper who willingly runs into blaster fire because their ordered too...
Read the book Phasma. Explains her back story and shows why she would have no real loyalty to the First Order. I really didn't care much for her until I read that but now I think she's the most badass character in Disney's new star wars.
That edit !! I was dying!! 1:30 xD I'm here because iv seen this character around alot since this movie came out , but I never saw the movie or any of the later sequels. I haven't seen han solo's movie or the Rogue one movie. But seeing all the redone armor and new armor they gave to the different character for all the new starwars films is a blast ! PHANTASMA AND THE Mandalorian from the Mandalorian show have been on my mind alot. I just love the modern armor's!!
Though I didn't like the sequels, they've really wasted Captain Phasma! She actually had a lot of potential along with Finn. I was hoping we could have seen how their rivalry developed in Episode 9 but Johnson had to kill her off in the Last Jedi!
