That's why Snoke feels like a stupid villain. Palpatine didn't really care about Vader but he sure did a good job at deceiving him. @@magavsdeepstate2095 Palpatine and his creation are literal jokes in the sequels. Rey can kill Palpatine with some MINOR assistance from ALL THE jedi (sarcasm obviously). Palpatine learnt nothing from his past experiences in ROTJ and what Luke told him "your overconfidence is your weakness." I mean, if Jedi can just make other jedi more powerful by being inside of them why didn't other jedi do that in the past? Why did they only figure out now? Or was it for a different reason?

Imagine if Rey gets to Luke and Luke has discovered some powerful new Force ability from the first Jedi Masters. They then come back and have the best fight in all the films. Could have been so much better than the Monty Python anticlimax we got.

I remember being so damn excited from this movie. I didn't care it copied a lot from ANH, it was a new generation of Star Wars and I thought Kylo Ren was the coolest character I'd seen in a long time. TLJ totally flipped it upside down and then spat in its face. TROS was a pathetic attempt to cover up what was done in TLJ, but it failed and it failed miserably imo.

Except his fear wasn't misplaced? Luke's return to being the legend on Crait is the reason the Resistance survived and inspired the galaxy to destroy the First/Final Order. The mere discovery of Luke is what led to his death. Just curious, if - in your version - Luke was still a legendary optimistic badass, then why would he be in solitude, letting trillions die?

@@Business_News It made sense on so many levels. Plagues had Palpatine kills all of his family members as prove of his dark side demeanor. What does Snoke do? He orders Kylo to kill his parents the very same way Plagues instructed Palpatine. Snoke's body is scarred and burned. In the Legends novel Palpatine electrocuted the drugged Plagueis to his death. Snoke's body looks like a rejuvanted carcass of something that was electrocuted. And also the theme music of Snoke is almost identical to the opera house scene in ROTS, when Palpatine speaks of, you guessed it, Plagueis. If Snoke was Plagueis, it would have made Kylo the spiritual successor to Palpatine, instead of Vader; pure evil incarnate that wouldn't be redeemed and would rise above Vader.

That would be my favorite plot, after sidious tried to kill his master but failed Plagieus waited, possibly manipulating things over a long period of time (yes a long time but time is relevant to what you perceive, humans live about 90 years, Yoda a lot more) so Palpatines rule would only ever reach 100 years max, what is Snoke? Something that 100 years seems nothing? Just waiting until his time to rule again.

+Alex Ononemc Correct. It's the CGI detachment. Snoke feels hollow because you can easily tell he's animated on a computer. There's nothing in front of the camera interacting with the other actors. It affects the immersion of the viewer on a subconscious level. By contrast, when I saw Emperor Palpatine on camera with his makeup and costume on, I really believed he was there and it kept me immersed in the film, even in the much-hated prequels, at least I bought that this is indeed the Emperor, there, present with Anakin Skywalker and the other characters.

***** There is so much CGI nowadays anyway. In the prequels, ironically, the CGI renders were more convincing than the real actors, for the most part, lol. Especially the worst actor ever, Hayden Christensen.

Ben Sadfleck it seems like JJ tried to respect aspects of Lucas's script and Story of episodes 6-9. But I'm sure Disney pushed to get rid of Lucas's characters, so they could baby up the story and have babies at the last scene before the credits roll

I'd imagine his attitude would have at least changed through many years, but the fact that the movie takes place RIGHT after TLJ, it doesn't make any sense that he'd switch to a cocky super villain so fast. ESPECIALLY when the Resistance just blew up his planetary weapon...why was he so 'unwise' in TLJ? Didn't add up at all.

It seems to me that there has been very little planning with this trilogy. Disney just want to make money as quick as possible.

The Last Jedi would've been fucking amazing if they just focus their spotlight on the force sensitive characters, they're literally the only good part in the movie. Luke shouldn't have died, Kylo should've evolved into at least Darth Vader level of power if they really decided to kill Snoke, which is a pretty bad idea as well. Would've been awesome if they bring in the rest of the knights of ren, give them a badass fight scene where they wipe the floor with the resistance, more awesome dog fights. But no, they have to give us Casino Royale...

THIS, this was literally what I thought he was! Imagine if they had pulled something like this in Episode 8 "You really dont know who I am, dont you? Tell me... have you heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?" It would have connected the story to the rest of the saga, without devaluating the sacrifice of Anakin and continued the story!

@@xXYannuschXx Exactly!! It gives us a new powerful Villain with ties to The Skywalker Bloodline WITHOUT invalidating Anakins sacrifice. Plagueis always reminded me of Maester Qyburn from Game of Thrones. He wasn't the Megalomaniacal Psychopath Sidious was it wasn't so much about his Power as it was his Knowledge of The Force. He would have saw nothing wrong with laying low and recovering from his Apprentices assault because it would have gave him the opportunity to continue his Great Work. It's possible he had spies keeping an Eye on The Emperor and Vader the whole time and when both were destroyed he decided to return to study what remained of the Bloodline his research had created.

Where I never about this, this story is just fire!

@@steel.9714 Its not canon but it was very strongly hinted in the Darth Plagueis novel that his experiments with using the mitichlorians to create life might be how Anakin Skywalker was conceived. Personally I would have gone this route in the new Trilogy. This way Snoke would have been Ben Solos Great-Grandfather in a bizarre way.
