This game has really great SINGLE PLAYER........ that's all i have to say, and i leveled to max and tried end game.... single player mission is pretty much the best thing about it....

Subscribers get a 12x XP boost to story missions. Not sure when the boost ends, but yes, you can just follow your class story and reach max level. Each class has a different storyline by the way.

You were levelling up that fast because in that period subscribers had a x12 bonus experience on main quests, because the new expansion was near to be launched. Now that x12 is gone. The experience reward has also been reworked, main quests give a little more exp even to f2p players, and side quests have been reworked into 3 categories: repeatable, exploration and planetary story arches. The latter is the only type you ""need"" to do

2020: The Game still has one of the best storyline and quest dialogue. Top 3 with ESO and FF14.

Also, you do get sprint as a F2P Player.

Subs level faster f2p does get sprint, at level 10 subs get speeders quicker subs get more armour subs get aalot more f2p players werent ripped off in vanilla, but now they are.

This was very interesting to watch. As a long time SWTOR Player, seeing someone join the game 'new' as it is now on the eve of the biggest expansion we've seen to date for it was very interesting. As has been stated before in other comments, currently there's a 12x Story XP Boost available for subscribers because there's a new expansion on the way, letting you level alts by just doing the main story quests so you get to experience everything before Knights of the Fallen Empire drops in October. Usually the leveling is perfectly paced to have you just the right level per planet if you do all the quests per planet. It was very interesting to hear the way you reacted to the dialogue and such and seeing as that is the 'big' appeal of TOR being that it's a Bioware game that's fully voice acted with decisions that impact your entire story, it's great to see that it gives that first impression. As a little side note you didn't mention that is worth remembering, there are technically three stages of 'subscription' in TOR. Free to play is completely free, no money but basically just lets you level a couple of characters through the main story. The second stage is "Preferred Access" which is where if you spent any money at all (either buying come cartel coins or by subscribing then your subscription runs out) this is sort of the major Free to Play form of TOR that gives access to most, but not all of the features. Final stage of course is subscription, which gives you access to everything and a monthly Cartel Coins grant for extra stuff if you want it. Enjoyed the video, thanks ^^

I would definitely say that this game is worth a subscription just to experience the 8 stories. I also really enjoy the endgame but it isnt for everyone. The reason he was levelling so fast was because subscribers are getting 12x xp right now for doing story.

This really needs to be redone almost just for the one fact that you didn't even pick an advanced class at level 10 and you could put your new system into it

Swtor is not Free2Play, it's more a huge Trail-Version, where you are able to level up to lvl 50 (currently max lvl is 70) and play every Class-Storyline (8 in total), it's a Trail for like 80 -90 hours, after you beat all class storys you can pay the monthly fee to be able to play the expantion stories, and be able to lvl up to 70 and keep playing the expansions, even if you unsubscribe.

I'm a SWTOR Founder. I'm also a huge RPer and for me I am all about the story line. For me, the story lines in this game alone make it worth playing. They are incredible. They, along with the choices you get to make, and the way you get to develop your character's personality, really make the game enjoyable, IMHO. I'm a mild Star Wars fan as far as the movies go, (haven't even seen all of them, just the original three and the first of the 'new' 3 and have not yet seen the brand new one, either) and I haven't played the other games or read the books, comics, or watched the animated series. But I've noticed a lot of die hard SW fans do love this game. RPers also tend to like this game because of the stories and the choices you get. Companions are very cool. Each class gets two romance-able companions, one male and one female (No same gender romances, so you need to make a character of the opposite gender if you want to see the other romance story line.) Male Sith warriors actually have the possibility of getting a second romance option, depending on what you do with a certain companion whose name or options I will not mention, to avoid spoilers. All companions have their own story line as well, including quests they can give you. This game is chop full of stories! FTP is really not worth it in this game, IMHO, due to the restrictions. Species (race) choice are too restricted, cannot use purple quality gear (it goes white (no stats, just armor,) green, blue, purple in this game. orange is custumiziable/upgradeable, so you can only go up to blue mods if you are FTP.) Also, you cannot hide head slots, or use the unify colors ability (which matches the rest of your gear to whatever colors your chest piece has) as FTP either. FP's and Ops (raids) have limited access as well. Also, Subs can get their mount access at level 10 while FTP has to wait until something ridiculous like level 30 or 35 to get it. Many of these options can be bought on the Cartel Market with real life cash, but if you are going to spend the money on them, you might as well sub for the $15/mo U.S. (or whatever it equates in your local currency.) Is this game worth playing? If you love stories and the ability to really develop your character's personality and are willing to pay a sub fee, I'd say undoubtedly yes! If you are in it solely for the game play, and are willing to pay the sub fee I'd still say yes, though some might not agree. The same goes for people who are into the stories and RP ability in the game, but cannot, or will not pay a sub fee (though you might want to pay for a couple of the access things on the CM.) If you are not into the stories, are in it solely for the game play and are not willing to spend a dime, I'd recommend elsewhere. Maybe Rift.

Btw why dont you play mmos that are closer and have more in common with WoW (a lot of your fans are people who stopped or cant play WoW, but really enjoy it and search for games with close content). Nice review! as a vet i can honestly attest that there is a butt ton of stuff to do for everyone. First and foremost there are 8 separate expansive class story lines which is ridiculously fun if you are so inclined. There is raiding and flashpoints, events all the time, there is space AND ground pvp, solo space missions, world pvp. Hell its even a bit like The Sims where you can build strongholds and houses and some ppl really take it to crazy levels. There is a lot more as well but i just wanted to expand on anyone wanting to know. Doesn't hurt that you get a feel for it for free as well. n-jOy!!!

Hey, Peon, other people have mentioned it but the reason you're leveling so fast is because there's currently an event (that lasts until mid-October) where subscribers get 12x EXP from their class missions. That's also why you were level 11 and the other guy was level 7 when you were doing the same mission - I'm pretty sure he wasn't a subscriber. The reason for the event is because they've got a new expansion coming out in October, so they wanted to make it easier for subscribers to level alts and experience more of the expac on launch.

swtor is by far the best MMORPG for storyline and character building, the bonds you build with you're companions and making you're character a legend is one of the best things ever xD dungeons where you all get to choose how you're character would engage with others, (one person does a dark act, while you wanna do a light act) and fits in nicely with dungeons story's. its expansions are amazing, jedi and sith joining together to take on revan

Spent most of the Video screaming pick an Advanced class(click the glowy button at the top) but other than that pretty good summary of SWTOR

It should be noted that the reason you were flying through levels was because there was 12x class mission XP from May (?) through mid October, so you could play to level 55 by doing only class quests. Before that, it was pretty much a necessity to do side quests. With 4.0, however, they've adjusted it so that you can get to 55 with just class missions and planetary story missions (each planet has a main questline aside from your class quest) without any sort of boost, which may or may not extend to f2p. So it's still quicker, but not nearly as fast as it was during the summer. Also, if you enjoyed the class story, you would DEFINITELY enjoy the expansion content which, with the exception of Rise of the Hutt Cartel, has arguably much better storytelling than the base game - especially with the most recent expansion. You get all expansions by subscribing. Just some things to consider if you think about coming back.

F2P mode its unviable.. When I played I got around.. level 36 and all the misions left for me to level up were on a planet that was lvl 43.. I couldnt land a single spell. If you are willing to pay for the suscription and you love star wars, then yes, you should play it at least until max level. (I dont really know much about post game on SWTOR). If you want to F2P mode then its worth playing one or two weeks, the quests are inmersive and the gameplay its fun.. but after those weeks it would be hell to keep playing if you dont upgrade to Sub mode. In short, if you want a FREE game to be distracted for a bit, absolutely.. If you want a real game to invest lots of time, be ready to invest money.

Hey TLP! Noticed in this video you mentioned how you would like an MMO in which you fly a spacecraft through the galaxy. If you have not heard of it yet Star Citizen is setting out to do just that, and while it is still in alpha (or maybe beta now, cant remember) it shows a TON of promise and potential. I definitely recommend checking it out and maybe perhaps doing an Is It Worth Playing on it one day in the future.

I know this video is old, but I figured I would give my input for those considering playing the game as a free-to-play. I've been playing SWTOR as a free to play for a couple of months leveling a Jedi Consular. The most important thing to remember about this game is that it is a Star Wars Story Heavy game. so even though some small things that would be nice to have are restricted, If you are in the game for the story, you won't care. They award "small XP boosters" at the end of every questline which grants 25% increased XP for the next hour (The hour timer halts when you log off). I think the game started restricting my xp gain at level 25 but by the time I hit 25 I was already 5 levels above my zone. Leveling is not a problem, however they restrict your late game fun a lot. In conclusion, If you're in it for the leveling and story, go for it, you will experience the full game. If you're in it to play late game content with your friends you most likely still can but it will be much harder for you then it will them.

From What ive Heard and Seen, SWTOR is like wod a Bit, Amazing Leveling and questing but has a very Boring Endgame

I had the exact same experience. Start was boring, then it did something no other game ever did, make me LOVE the story questing.

Bunch of things: First off, Free to Play vs Subscription - admittedly when I first tried out SWTOR last summer, I was unwilling to subscribe and thought I could just get everything or almost everything for free. Therefor I cringed at the possibility of unlocking basic stuff like extra action bars, inventory slots and such with real money (through cartel coins). Eventually I quit around level 11 when I finished my class's starting planet because I just did not enjoy having to do the boring grindy bonus objectives and side missions (although some are quite fun or interesting, but not all of them). Recently I burnt out on WoW and decided to switch to SWTOR and actually commit and subscribe and have been having a blast, and have come to change my perspective. In my opionion SWTOR is not a very shitty free to play game with optional subscription model as I thought previously, but rather a subscription based game with very extensive free trial. Seriously you can play through all of the classes's 3 personal story chapters (basically vanilla questing up to 50) as pure free to play, or spend 5 or more bucks to ease up the restrictions by upgrading to preferred. But back to the subscription; it's actually a quite cheap game. Right now, the only thing "need" to pay for, if you want to experience the whole game is subscription and then you have purchase the last expansion "Shadow of Revan" for about 15 euros. That's it. No buying 20 euros for a battlechest, 15 euros a month on subscription and 60 euros every year for a new expansion like in WoW. Infact if you are subscribed by the time the new expansion Knights of the Fallen Empire releases in october, you will get EVERYTHING, as in: all subscriber benefits (obviously), Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion, Shadow of Revan expansion and Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion for free. Secondly, the questing: Subscribers get 12 times increased XP on main class missions, which is great for alts (as the planetary quests are only different on each faction, so you don't have to repeat them over and over when leveling an alt). Also you can buy (for free) an item called "White Acute Model" from a vendor in your faction's fleet station that puts on you a 8 hour (de)buff which removes this 12x XP bonus while it's active (you can remove and reapply anytime). This allows you to moderate your XP and not overlevel yourself if you decide to get some XP on the side line (Flashpoints, PvP, sidequests). Thirdly the combat: NO. FUCKING. ABILITY. PRUNING. Seriously, coming from Warlords it was such a relief to have lots of abilities. And yes I still have trouble with keybinding them all :D. Secondly, there are no DPS cooldowns as far as I am aware. One of the big issues I have with WoW, is how DPS both in PvE (where it doesn't ultimately matter) and in PvP (where it fucks it up horribly) is so reliant on stacking damage cooldowns (Recklessness+Avatar etc). There are obviously few small cases, from top of head: Combat Focus/Enrage for Jedi Knight/Sith Warrior, which gives them about half of their focus/rage bar on 45 sec CD, helping them "accelerate" their DPS, and one specific 3 sec buff for one of the Jedi Sentinel/Sith Marauder disciplines (basically wow specialisations) that gives them 100% armor pen, creating these massive burst windows every 12 seconds. But that's the main thing. It's every 12 seconds. Not every 2 minutes or 3 minutes or 1 minute or other bs like that. This makes PvP ultimately so much fun for me. Yes there is creeping issue of mobility coming up with 4.0 changes (though it's nowhere near as bad as it is in WoW), but overall especially the pvp combat is a lot of fun. PvE combat (raids namely) suffers from the lack of addons (Bioware does not allow them), but a fair comparison would have to be between vanilla WoW UI and SWTOR combat UI, SWTOR would take the cake. Blizzard is just too lazy to implement a proper boss mod into their UI. Fourthly - Galactic Starfigher. Yes it's kinda hard to get into and has quite a steep learning curve. Yes and because of that curve and annoying requisition system (still better than Warthunder lol) it has population issues and thus longer queue times than normal PvP. But boy is it indepth, high skill space ship fun. Yes, it could use more maps and more gamemodes, but damn it's impressive that something like this is included in an MMO. I would take Nar Shadaa casino (perfect way to lose all your fucking credits) and Galactic Starfighter over Pet battles any day. And finally - it's an actual fucking MMO R P G. Not just an MMO. Not watered down button mashing, number spewing skinner box. And actual online RPG. Peon mentioned it near the end of his video: you start to feel attached to your character, create a personality for him, start to care or hate your companions, start to care about the choices you make, even replay the same class twice or thrice to see all the different choices and their outcomes. Plus, it has an amazing transmog+costume system. And fucking Lightsabers. EDIT: And an insane housing system. So in short, subscribe and fight for the Republic! (or the filthy Empire!) EDIT: Yeah the engine is kinda bad, devs themselves have acknowledged it and expressed their wish to remake the game in updated(new?) version engine.

If you want a space mmo, where you can explore space, try Star Trek Online. :) You can even customize your own ship (You'll by one class of ship, witch has 3 versions and you can mix them for your own look.) However, If you want some nice looking ships or items,You'll need to buy a premium money, BUT you don't have to, for fully enjoy the game. If you like Star Trek universe, I definitely recoment you this game. Graphics isn't nothing stunning as Elder Scrolls online, but I think it is as good as SWTOR. :)

Please do more with SWTOR I think you'll really enjoy it and would love to see your whole trip through the game.

I play a cyborg (bionic right eye) Republic Trooper (Commando), and I enjoy the game. For every node of easy quests, there are the Heroic quests that take a party and can give some nice experience and loot. I also like that you go to the new planets because of the class story, not just because the new planet is a higher leveling zone. Havoc Squad for the win!

Out of all of these Impressions I've seen thus far; I just loved seeing your reactions to the trolling and character conversations. Laughed aloud myself.

love that you tried swtor out.. the questing i feel is better then wow because how awesome the story line is for each spec. PvP is decent with warzones and 4v4 arena. where the game really shines is end game raiding. i think it has the feel of bc and wrath wow type raiding which for me was the best time.

You're levelling really fast because of the subscriber XP bonus (limited event), which means you can level up only using your story missions ( and ignoring the side missions)

I've maxed 2 characters on F2P, it takes a long ass time, because you basically have to do every side quest just to keep up. after a while i only got on when they had double XP weekend. and then as a F2P play you're locked off from alot of the end game. they only thing that kept me coming back was my guild, and their positive reinforcement about how was one of the best tanks they had.

This game is so good. I always go back and play this. I have played Eq, Wow, ESO and Rift. This is by far the best game. I love this game. All the new content is awesome.

the reason you were leveling so fast is because as a sub for the foreseeable future the devs said that you will get triple XP on story line quest. this just started in March I believe, before even as a sub it took a bit longer. also after lock lvl 50 or 55 can't remember the XP boost turns off making the last 5 to 10 lvls a bit of a grind. but with group finder as a tank or healer it goes quickly. Also the pvp (warfzones) in this game is excellent and you can gain XP through them as well

Dude, he could be such a bloody nerd at times. Check out the interface editor @ 1:30 when he's fixed UI, but he wouldn't close up the window because of another mini-pop show that whether he should save it or not, yet, he try to force the main window before applying changes. GG!

You should keep playing, its a ton of fun. Especially the Operations/Raids.

Just came back to this game this month after playing it back in 2012. I love the game because there's a good bit of cutscene, and a good bit of gameplay so it feels like I'm playing some Star Wars, watching some Star Wars, and just chillin. The questing is so rich!

You can do main story if you are subscriber, nd lvl fast enough, and then are preferred players ( former subscriber, or have bought something ), free to play gets sprint at lvl 10. I just lvled a character as preferred, did every quest on korriban, got lvl 11 by doing all quests, my brother is free to play, did all got lvl 9. And choices change events, even early choices can change your lvl 50 ending cinematic.

9:12 Thats pretty much the main reason why this game rocks...whats better is if you do side quest with a friend you can both communicate. Questing is really good it makes it worth to replay this game 8 times to do each quests and then even more so you can get different roles and such.

Just a quick note; right now, there's a special promotion going on in the game where Sub players get twelve times the experience they normally would get for completing Class missions. I assure you the leveling-up process in the game is not usually anywhere near this fast.

Hey Peon, there is in fact a game called Elite: Dangerous where you can explore a huge galaxy with TONS of solar system. It is pretty expensive and hard to play but there you go. (just thought id let u know)

If anyone wants to see the video (and my channel, which I am trying to improve) then feel free to do that and give constructive criticism on how I can improve my content.

Please keep in mind right now subscribers are getting x12 exp for every story line quest in "celebration" of the new expansion coming out in October, so that kinda leveling isn't normal. However if you are thinking about picking the game up now is a great time do so for that reason.

Questing is really good. Also, you have the preferred status (so, without the monthly sub, you can get some benefits if you spend some money on the game). I bought 5 dollars worth of currency to get the preferred status, and you can run from lvl 1 along with some other things that free to play players don't have.

in the case it hasnt been stated, subscribers are given a temporary 12x XP boost to Story Quests. This is meant to quickly level up characters in preperation of tge new expansion coming out this october

Loved this game, played all the classes just because the story telling was so good for an MMO. (plus I'm a huge SW fan) The only thing I really disliked was the lack of a neutral faction - classes that truly allowed you to do what you wanted, rather than always having to be ultimately aligned with either the Jedi/Republic or the Sith. (This is what Smuggler/Bounty Hunter should have been, imo)

I loved this game when it came out. I was in the Beta, and even that was relatively smooth. I had a good time with it for awhile.

Something to remember, if you subscribe to this game through October 19th you get 12x XP from story missions. I would definitely recommend playing and subscribing!

Even after your subscription expires, you still retain SOME of the features that are otherwise locked out in F2P.

Good video and a fair review. Surprised you never mentioned the endless load screens. I guess if you have a SSD the load screens will be short, but as someone with a Standard HDD, the endless load screens detract SO much from the game I find it hard to enjoy.

Pretty sure someone has already said this, but if you subscribe from now until the new expansion you get 12x experience on your main story quest, so you dont have to do any side missions :D

Thuoght i should say this, I originally did not want to play this game in anyway, and recently played it. Free to play is not restricted up untill level 50 and is quite a enjoyable time, especially with friends. The sprint ability is unlockable at a very low level and you only had to pay for it at the start for the first 20 mins

You're a higher level than the other guy because subscribers are currently getting a x12 experience boost on all story quests. The level 7 guy must be either free to player or preferred, since the experience boost is a subscriber exclusive, which you get until the new digital expansion comes out.

Almost everything you can't have as a FTP player from the beginning of the game (like sprint, or even some races), it can be earned after some levels or after completing some achievements. Even if I don't like this, it kind of compensates. But by no means it's a pay to win game. I state this in case somebody understood this. (You can pay for cosmetic items but not better items). Also if you want a boost then be a subscriber as Peon said. Btw, great video as always Peon = )
