@@joechace8214 I believe the Victory class as seen in the Empire at War games was and is still considered the canonical look of the ship. although i dont know if the distinction between I and II still exists.
One point of contention, the Victory-class is said to have been introduced at the half-way mark of the war, about the same time as the Arquitens, and did see combat though on a more limited scale than the Venator. I think you're lumping in the Victory-II, Imperator, and Tector classes, which were all introduced at the very end of the war with limited service, with the original Victory-class.
I’d say a Venator loaded to the gills with Y-Wings and a bunch of Consular Class ships outfitted with Turbolasers AND Rapid Fire Laser Cannons would be a pretty damn good match for CIS Warships and even Imperial Star Destroyers (not just the class but the faction) due to their heavy reliance on turbo-lasers and lack of point defense or rapid fire guns.
Fair argument, but the issue is the CIS snub fighters would make short work of the Y-Wings without any kind of escort. Might be a good idea to fill in some of the defensive gaps.
@@adamkerman475The Resurgent is just a badassed ship, no matter what movie it was in. And for the record I didn't like the sequels, just TFA. TLJ and TROS were awful.
Palpatine001 at this point I doubt it. The show has overused venators way to much at this point. We barely see Aclamators, arquitens, and consular ships.
@@punctuationman334 well, why would we? The small frigates are really no use except as anti fighter picket ships, if fire is concentrated on them their ripped to pieces immediately. The acclamator meanwhile is a transport, and we see it almost always when a planet is invaded, except when a smaller force is landed from a Venator using gunships...
It's probably the most well armed and powerful carrier in SW history. Put the venator with some new republic or rebel star fighters and you got a scary ship.
@@eanna3781 Well Aclamator wasnt that good of a ship in combat, it was better as troop carrier and had to be used as combat vessel in first months of Clone Wars because there was no other ships to fill capital ships role before Venators came in
@@eanna3781 Well, the Acclamator was an assault ship, not meant for duking it out in space. They're meant to deploy armies on the surface of a planet. That's why they designed the Arquitens class as the war progressed, so they'd have a light cruiser to assist the Venator battlegroups in fleet engagements. The Venator is a cruiser/carrier, after all, not a full fledged battleship like the Imperial class would be under the Empire.
The combat refit of the Consular is honestly one of if not my favourite ship from the Republic era, it bears the classic hallmarks of a Correlian designed ship but personally has more character than the later CR90
Well, ISD almost conquered entire worlds alone. It was a different scenario. One in which the Empire was projecting power and needed one/two vessels to function as invasion-enablers and yet more aggressive than venators.
The imperial Star destroyers did a great job and scaring little rebel fighters being a attack ship while the venator, a carrier really, destroyed many capital ships subjugators malificent class frigates the malevolence, I’ll let you be the judge who did more
@@daenor7807 Definitely the ISD. Without the ISD and its hideous fighters complement, the rebels wouldn't even be able to set foot into the sky before getting their ass blast by 52 point defence grids that are designed specifically to destroy fighters. Let's not mention her fighter capacity and primary weapon that can switch between rapid-fire and high yield intensity. We wouldn't even have a rebel series at that point. So, ISD FTW.
Republic: designs venator that mostly just supports it's fighters and is very versatile to fit almost any situation. It's only drawback is its lackluster armament for being a ship of the line. It gets used mostly in the role it wasn't designed to fill. Empire: what if we just do the exact opposite thing? It's not like having exactly that would be a good idea...
I love the Venator. If I was a Jedi Knight leading an attack force, my fleet would comprise of a few Victory Star Destroyers serving as the muscle, supported by Arquitens-class and Consular-class ships, with Venators and Acclamators following close behind as troop and fighter carriers. The Victory Star Destroyers would lead the charge, pelting CIS ships with continuous barrages as the opening strike.
I like the Pelta, it's pleasingly chunky. It could use a beefier drive cluster though, I wonder if you could fit the drive array from the Arquitens on its frame.
The Pelta actually has fold out engines for some reason. They look to be a reasonable match for the size of the ship, but the fold out mechanism seems both weak and pointless.
I am curious as what vessels are left to cover, i believe the tau'ri ships have been done and the goa'uld have as well. Traveler and the Lantean. I know the O'neil, Blizinger, and have they done a Daniel Jackson?
If I was in the Empire, I'd mention to the Emperor how essential the Venator Class Star Destroyer is through its combat and unique ability. Damn you Tarkin😩
Since the Rebels often sent a small group of Y-wing starfighters to attack and destroy Imperial star destroyers, a Venator full of Tie fighters might've been enough to overpower the larger and slower Y-wings. Even with an escort of X-wings or A-wings, the sheer number of fighters contained within a single Venator could probably hold them off...
The Empire just got through their WW2 moment, saw that a carrier is the best design available. And then scrapped all of them to pick up a bunch of useless battleships.
@@hafor2846 The Empire's problem with Fighters wasn't Quantity, it was Quality. I'm not sure who the jackhole at Sienar Fleet Systems was who sold The Empire on an unshielded, unarmored plasticrete ball attached to two tinfoil solar panels with durasilk twine was, but he deserves every filthy stinking Credit he made off the deal.
I'd love to see more videos like these. I think it'd be dope if you did one for the Garmillan imperial navy or the United Nations Cosmo Navy from space battleship yamato 2199/2202
Perfect video given Star Wars Armada recently announced they’re doing the Clone Wars! Would LOVE to see you play a game of Armada at some point and upload the highlights.
Love your channel. Great break downs for all your reports. In the future I would love to see you do a segment on international rescue and the Thunderbirds vehicles. Either the original or remake.
I wonder if that Star Destroyer briefly visible in the Ep. 9 teaser was a Victory class destroyer Maybe the Resistance will find an old stash of decommissioned Old Republic warships
For such a short video this is amazing!! Well done. Its straight to the point and summarized each class nicely. More people should do videos like this.
I was just thinking about the Victory and Venator the other day. More the point, I was thinking about how they should have been introduced roughly simultaneously to serve as a more logical leap to the Imperial-class. Simply put, neither Star Destroyer is quite a logical precursor to the Imperial. The Victory-class is clearly more of a heavy destroyer/cruiser (and significantly smaller) while the Venator-class is more of a heavy carrier. It seems to me like either ship would almost demand an intermediary step before become a full-fledged Imperial I. On the other hand, two contemporary ships, serving different roles, but being analyzed by R&D for their strengths and weaknesses might just see themselves combined into a mightier warship....
@@yardhunter4209 Especially other variants than the Malevolence. I know there's supposed to be something like five of them. First, there's the _Malevolence_ deployed in raids and without support, as sort of a Bismarck-analogue, then there is the _Devastation_ that appeared in a Nintendo DS game that is a 1.5 times as long, red superweapon of small-moon-destroying caliber that always looked like a flying lightsaber with engines to me, and there is another unnamed and unfinished vessel of the Subjugator-class being constructed, and eventually destroyed in the Enoth system in the 2014 comic: _Hotshot_ _Star_ _Wars_ : _The_ _Clone_ _Wars_ _Comic_ _UK_ _6.54_ , but I know nothing about any other types. We need EPIC space battles in Clone Wars Season 7. I hope to see the beginning of the Battle of Coruscant and Mando and Republic fighters slugging it out in the Siege of Mandalore.
They all have exposed bridges so bombers can wreck your bridge very easily but to be fair, most ships have external bridges. I would combine the firepower of a resurgent along with the shields of the MC85 and hangars of the Lucrehulk. It'd be a big and very expensive ship but it's a better form of a dreadnought.
I always thought that the Acclamator Assault Ship had more Durability than a Venator Star Destroyer due to it's Neutronium Impregnated Hull which was described as being able to take Fusion Rockets with only a scratch (Granted this was from the same book that said that Acclamators had 200 Gigaton Quad Turbolasers lol). That episode "Innocents of Ryloth" showed a ground based Proton Cannon crippling an Acclamator which is likely the source of the weak Acclamator concept. A Troop Transport would need to be heavily armored if it hoped to successfully bypass Flak and Land troops. The Tactical Droid said that the J-1 Proton Cannons were new at the time. I bet a Venator would be absolutely crippled from 1 or 3 Shots from the J-1 Proton Cannon.
Actually the ISD-II had even less point defense weapons than the ISD-I, meaning a Venator would have an even easier time taking down a II than it would a I, which is freaking hilarious but hey, all the Rebellion really had to do was get a Venator and vwalla, hit and run attacks, so much deadlier!!!
@@josecarbajal5028 it would work. A mobile base with fighter repair facilities, medical, and has a lot of armor, shields, and some decent guns. It would fair better than most ships against the empire
3 Victory Class 4 Venator Class 8 Arquitens class 6 Acclamtor Assault Class 10 Charger class 10 Pelta class 7 heavy warhips with an emphasis on fighters while the the main warships take out everything that gets too close. The Charger and the Arquitens handle the fighters and smaller warships and act as they should as escorts. Acclamtor stays behind and uses it light weapons to defend the transportation which would help refuel and re arm the warships.

Arquitens is my favorite of the ships presented. I don't fully understand why, but its just an absolutely fantastic starship in my opinion, especially if one were to properly outfit it. if I were to select my next it would be the victory class. Although as far as other ship in contention for top, the Raider corvette has a very sexy shape and purpose ans well as capabilities.
Best ship of its class. Main problem was it was in a fleet with other Venators usually meaning a weakness in the ships combat abilities can be easily exploited to win the battle. Which is why fleets need a versatile number of ships in them
Even though the Venator's first real life, movie release date appearance was ROTS, it's nice that The Clone Wars series 'back stopped' them to appear at the beginning of the Republic - CIS war. Now if only TCW had made V-wings and AT-APs appear even half as often!
Actually victory had big role in stopping the fleet from foerost that ravaged core words, besides that yes, he did little job, but this one campaign was very important
looking back at this, the Consular class could have really used a pair of torpedo launchers up from and maybe a quad missile turret with anti-fighter missiles. making it more of a PT/PTM style then a pure gunboat.
There needs to be a game like Empire at War for the Clone Wars era. Ships just look better and are organized by proper class instead of having designs that are willy-nilly like Nebulon-Bs and all that. I mean I get the design aesthetic - in the rebellion's case it's literally a ragtag group of vessels brought together under one banner from every corner of the galaxy, but you would think that for all the thousands of years the Republic has existed every alien nation could come to a galactic standard for ship class per size, right?
Good video, just wish we got see a Victory-class on screen. Wish like Legends, the Imperator-class was there late in the war as well. Also all of the Star Dreadnoughts, Battlecruisers, and Star Destroyers of the planetary navies like the Mandator-class.
Damn, the arquitans have such a sleek design for a light cruiser. I see why the empire still kept this but I am disappointed that the venator class wasn’t still used AFTER the galactic empire fell. You can hold so much in that kind of ship with that spinal hangar that gives your starships a “runway” into space.
I would love to see a fan fiction or something where the Republic doesn't get transformed into the Empire and they continue using the Acclamator and Venator, but add the Victory and Imperial to their navy, perhaps giving the Imperial class a different name.
Okay, If I could have my own vessel from the Republic Clone wars era, I would actually just have my own version of the Ventaor that basically is the combination of the six mentioned. Remove the fighter bay, take the shields, power, life support, weapons, navigation, communications and some crew of the other ships, the stealth ability of that one ship in The Clone wars and have one badass Venator. Slightly larger then the normal Venator but has a hydro farm and other food areas, smelting and refining at the noise when in an asteroid field for spare parts, and have belly docking for a my own version of the Consult Cruiser/ Arquitens hybrid.Have them replace the LAAT for troop and vehicle carrier.....also, take out the systems of an LAAT and place them onto the hybrid and Venator. I'd do more but right now can't think of it.
