"But why would Luke have been afraid of Yoda?" A small, slightly-unhinged green creature comes out of the swamp and casually performs a great feat of Force-mastery. Would your first thought be "I landed right next to the one guy on this planet I wanted to talk to" or "I hope this delusional old man doesn't kill me"?
Okay, so put yourself in Luke's shoes - you're stuck on a swamp planet, after crashing your x-wing. A little green man raids your camp, steals your food, blabbers nonsensical things, and smacks your droid around with a stick. Then he suddenly tells you that he's a great master of a lost art. Would you believe him? You'd pretty much have no choice. So then he "trains" you by making you carry him around on your back, and standing on your foot while you balance yourself doing a hand stand, talks to a GHOST of an old homeless guy (who you will later find out chopped your dad in half), and just when you start to think you should speak up, and deny that he is truly this great master because you can't do anything he is teaching, the dude LIFTS YOUR SPACE SHIP out of the swamp... WITH HIS MIND. Tell me, does it matter what the first "force thing" he did was?
i don't know where you got the whole luke is doubting yoda thing for. sure, luke was surprised, but never doubted yoda. Luke is begging yoda to train him after luke realizes yoda is the jedi master, while yoda is the reluctant one. luke asks yoda tons of questions about the force, which yoda answers satisfyingly. Obi wan isn't just some old homeless guy, he's the father that luke never had: and if he was just an old homeless guy to luke, why would luke follow his advice to a random swamp planet?
snek themed trainwreck Dude, you're clearly not getting the joke here. Or the one in the OP... lol that's the point of the posts... we're not being serious
Yoda is batshit insane in Empire. Personally, I think Georgie should've made him crazy in the prequels too, but it might've been distracting. It makes sense though. Living in exile on a swamp planet for 19 years completely alone will probably drive you up the wall.
10:13 "Luke is so afraid of Rey, that he pushes her away. Kylo Ren is so uncertain of Snoke, that he's gonna end up woke." C'mon Jay, perfect opportunity there.
My immature thoughts when I read this comment: Isaac and Rey sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g My mature thoughts when I read this: oh silly immature me don't reply that that's childish Me: *does it anyway*
God I wish it was December. My birthday is in December, Christmas is In December, and the last Jedi is in December. Also first. Where’s Ben it’s Thursday
Hidingbehindmy gravestone you need to have some sort of a plant (dont remember the name)in your mouth for a month and repeating a certain spell constantly.
Yes please! If you need to find how to do that, it's in Hogwarts: Hardship, Heroism, and Dangerous Hobbies :D great read, lots of character/HP universe info.
My mom was waiting with the site pulled up to buy movie tickets as soon as she could. We’re going to a special party/event just to see the movie! It’s gonna be awesome!
I know a lot of it was ambiguous, but I still feel like the trailer gave away too much. I really hope the movie 1) is amazing and 2) manages to surprise me
OMG I love this vidio and how you discuss these scenes it's absolutely amazing so glad I found your channel and I love your enthusiasm for Star Wars the last Jedi!!!!! 😍😎😂😅
I don't think Kylo Ren is going to kill Leia, and I'm going off of what was planned for these films, had Carrie Fisher not died. The plan was for TFA to be Han Solo's big film, this one is Luke's, and the ninth one was supposed to be Leia's. How could she be killed in this one if she was supposed to be in the ninth one? Plus, Lucasfilm has even said how what we will see in the film is exactly how everything is supposed to be, with no alternations or reshoots done following Carrie's death. Really, I'm pretty sure the only thing that will be added is a dedication in memory of both her and Kenny Baker.
I think that if this weren’t the cash cow that is Disney they would both be grey jedis. They could still very well be. But Disney likes a big profit, so they need an underlying conflict that will continue the story for a long time.
They've been pushing grey in rebels a lot lately, so I can't help but think that's where they are trying to go in these movies too. Like even Luke I think is trying to go back to the origin of the Jedi. Kylo Ren is considered valuable by Snoke because he has both dark and light in him.
As a cash cow they could realize they could make Grey Jedi inside the movies and cartoons. They realize how much people would be more intrigued in the series if they did this. We'll have to see December 15th
I think Luke's line "this isn't going to end, the way you think" takes place during the same scene as rey's vision when the knights of ren kill that guy in front of her.
Luke was totally talking about the emperor's 'raw strength'. He says he wasn't scared of it enough before, like when he tossed his lightsaber aside in front of him, only to be tortured by his force Lightning. But he is afraid of it now, because he felt the emperor's true power first hand. Yoda even warned Luke not to underestimate the emperor, however he did, and almost payed for that with his life. So what I'm saying is that Rey is a Palpatine. Luke wasn't scared of that raw power before, but he is fearful of it now. That also makes sense why Luke would be hesitant to train her, knowing the huge connection she has to the dark side and knowing the potential destruction it could unleash, in the hands of the emperor, who was Luke's mortal enemy. It also explains Rey's massive force power, if she is related to the most powerful Sith Lord ever.
Yayyyy been waiting for you to drop this since Monday ;) excellent trailer wasn't it!? I think my favorite question in who Luke was talking to when he says 'he's only seen it once before' and I'm confident he was talking about having seen it in kylo (who then destroyed his camp) and now he sees it in rey which scares him x that would make sense since her force has awakened and the light and dark should always balance x I wonder what this' power' is.. X love that we saw snoke but who's torturing rey? And that hint kylo extends a hand to rey x looking forward to the fin / phasma fight, fin looks bad arse and phasmas got to show her worth in this movie! :p love that you lit up J! Sock club was gone for less than a few days haha x long live the sock club! Xxx
I want to point out that when you hear her say "something... Inside me has always been there" it even sounds like they cut out the middle part of this. The Something is rushed and the Inside is much more slowed down, and verbal speed would typically have a transition. This changes in the case of someone getting cut off. Like someone spoke over the original speaker so the rest of the statement would be slower out of defeat or annoyance. I definitely think there is a piece missing from the beginning of the voice over
I'm feeling this urge to ship Kylo and Rey but there's that whole big hint that they're related and so I don't want to start shipping them until I'm sure they're not cousins. Or siblings. Or both, the way these things go. Basically I hope they're not related so that I can ship them.

Uugh, how much longer will we have cookie cutter Star Wars films foisted on us? ("Teddy's Story Joint," anyone?) Thanks for another great video, Carlin brothers!
Sorry to bring anything down, but the neutrality of his possible theory makes me sad for my own life. As much as I try to be nuetral, true nuetral, I am seen as the evil. That's why I come here. Comedy, theory, and fun that I cannot obtain myself helps me escape the reality of the hell that is my head. Thanks for the upload!
J M, I've tried. Therapy hasn't helped me and I don't believe I deserve any good to happen to me anyway despite my trying. The only reason I haven't tried (ending it) again recently is because of my escapism into RU-vid, movies, and books. I have no friends near me and I don't deserve any. I'm 26 and feel I'm a waste of space. But that's okay. It has to be. I didn't mean to start a discussion about on such a happy video though. My apologies.
J is right. ALL of the dialogue is misleading. When Finn says "Come on!" he could be saying it to be Phasma, or he could be saying it to somebody who is telling him that they have to go back to Jakku. XD
I have a quick question for you Jon. Have you heard/what are your thoughts on the theory that (if Rae is Luke's daughter) Kylo Ren was the one who left her on Jakku? The theory mostly comes from the force vision Rae has in which she appears to be witnessing the Knights of Ren killing the Padawans in the temple. Just before Rae would be struck down, Kylo Ren kills the Knight that would have killed her. It shows Kylo walking towards her and immediately cuts to her on Jakku yelling at the ship to come back. This is also coupled with the fact that Kylo is immediately put on edge by the fact that the droid has been found with a girl on Jakku and demands to know "what girl?" and the fact that he tries to get her to join him before hurting her. The theory is that they were cousins, very close cousins, and as he hadn't made his full transition to the Dark Side (in fact, this would have likely been his first big act as Kylo Ren) he couldn't bring himself to kill her and so decided make everyone think he'd killed her and then hid her away where he didn't think he'd ever encounter her again. It would also help explain why Luke went into exile and isolated himself, he thinks he lost his daughter (and probably his wife/lover), and why neither Leia nor Han would have recognized her as they thought she'd died as a child. Your thoughts?
All the promotional material and still no sign from the only thing I liked about Episode 7, The Knights of Ren. Thanks, J.J. Setup with no plan for a followup.
I really, really, REALLY want to see you guys do a whole video on the "chosen one" prophecy/concept. It sounds like we're going to revisit that in TLJ. What do we know about the prophecy? What clues do we have? Yoda says the prophecy might have been misread - what are other possible ways to interpret it? Are we sure it refers to Anakin? Could it be Luke? Rey? Even Leia? Maybe even Kylo Ren??? What clues have we gotten in things like Clone Wars/Rebels that some of us aren't as familiar with? There are conflicting interpretations on what it means to bring balance to the force. Some fans seem to think it means there are equal amounts of light and dark in the galaxy, but at one point Mace Windu makes a comment that seems to equate destroying the sith with bringing balance to the force, so maybe the light itself is balance. Discuss!!
I agree with most of your conclusions here. And I do think that they are setting up Kylo and Rey to work together in the third film. Or he may be back to calling himself Ben Solo by then. I see Kylo's story arc as a reverse parallel to his grandfather Anakin.
I believe Luke was referring to Emperor Palpatine when he was talking about "I have only once before felt this kind of raw power, I was not scared of it then..." Because 1) The Emperor in canon is the most powerful force user ever 2) Luke was confident when he faced the Emperor "I am a Jedi, like my father before me." 3) Luke was promptly nearly killed by a force power he did not even know existed by the Emperor. These conclusions seem to point to a Rey/Palpatine link as suggested by other Star Wars theories.
I'm sure you're right about the side-switching and not knowing who to trust...but I love the idea that someone working on star wars is trying to confuse us! They care what us theorists and film reviewers think ☺ btw where's Ben? Hope he's ok x
