I used to work at Starbucks and he is right. Most of those drinks is just sugar and milk, barely any caffeine. People think they need to get their daily caffeine fix, no you need your sugar fix. The plain coffee or the cold brew is the real stuff.

Eating at home will also save you getting sick. You always know how the food was handled and prepared.

When you are lower income with kids, as my wife and I used to be, you watch every penny. We learned every trick in the book to save money and still enjoy our lives. Now we are low level millionaires and can spend as much as we like, but we are still frugal at heart, and look for the good deals. Starbucks is an occasional treat, I go once in a long while and get a latte. I brew good coffee at home every day, I don't feel deprived.

Shouldn't hack number one be "don't go to Starbucks when you can brew a cup of coffee at home or at the office "? (And the rewards card may not cost you anything...except it encourages you to actually keep going to Starbucks.)

I stopped drinking Starbucks when they said they do not support the United States Military even though there is one in almost every post and base in the world. Under my brutal totalitarian regime corporations that do not support our military will be excluded from doing business with them.

We requested the BLT at Chick-fil-A today and they told us they don't do those!! So... I guess that hack is not for every location 🤷

The Starbucks nearest me has often had 25-30 cars in the drive thru. I absolutely cannot believe how long it would take these idiots to get their high priced coffee. A percolator and a battery powered cream whipper makes just as good coffee and I save money and has to save me from at least a 45 minute line!!!! Ridiculous!!!!

I think the nearest Starbucks to me is like 40 miles away. My coffee maker is ON MY COUNTER TOP.

Pro tip: Starbucks is so big, they have to burn all their beans to get a longer shelf-life. Never could stand it. Try a local alternative or just make it at home. Get a coffee maker with a timer so it's ready when you get up if you find yourself always having to stop on the way to work. Another alternative if you like the cold brew - you can make your own of that as well. You just need a means to very, very slowly filter it. Lots of devices out there, but fairly easy to rig something from whatever you have around the house. MacGyver it, people. Even if you only spend three bucks a day buying a coffee, that's 90 a month. That's a bill of some sort.

I work at Starbucks. It’s overrated and overpriced for no reason. I don’t understand why people go there everyday. I do get free drinks and food. However, I’ve grown tired of it. Funny you mention economics though, I just got done writing a post about that regarding Starbucks for my Econ course

Starbucks sells their cold brew coffee at most major grocery store chains for around $5 and it is the equivalent of buying around 4-5 grande cold brews at a store, where each drink is around $5.

Lol the brewed coffee has more because it's drip coffee versus a latte is espresso and has less caffeine. I love black coffee but can't drink it because it has too much caffeine. I always make espresso instead
