That WAS an amazing game. Good to see Showtime still in top form. I can't imagine playing back to back games in a tournament and keeping consistent mental with that much multitasking going on.

This is the 2nd game of the year? More importantly.... Lowko you should make these games candidates for game of the year and then at the end of the year put together a bracket with links to the video casts (re-up those views) and then have the community vote for each round. So that you can crown the actual game of the year.

these lategames often tend to drag out, but this one had me on the edge of my seat for the entire time :D i even yelled out "noo" when another observer got killed.. that overseer was the true hero of reynor, allowing him to snipe those observers and thus letting the lurkers reign so long

the speed of pressing button as Lowko put it has to do with salt ion cycling. your nerves are powered by salt ions, and their frames per a second so to speak is based on how fast your body physically cycles the ions. this was discovered with the advent of the motion picture and some people only seeing a bunch of flashes instead of a moving picture. the FPS of the early movies was 15 to 20 hertz usually and that was slow enough that a decent number of people couldn't see it as intended. they sped it up to 30 hertz and that worked for most people but a small number of people still saw just flashes. even at 60 hertz there is a few people that see just a strobing effect. researchers found that this is because these people cycle the salt ions in their optic nerves much faster than normal people, and it isn't something you can train for. as they studied other nerves that were harder to test since they were smaller and there is less solid feedback than with vision and the eyes they found this process holds true for all nerves. this means that while you can train your mind to anticipate and to see more (we also don't see as much as we think we do) the actual reaction speed is fixed based on biology. you can eat right to ensure that your body has everything it needs to cycle the ions fast, and you can do exercises to encourage nerve growth so that your muscles and such respond slightly faster, but generally speaking you are born with a certain reaction speed that you can only hinder rather than speed up. now most people do hinder their reaction speed without knowing they do, so there is room for improvement, but you hit a wall in a whole different manner than working your muscles or mind.

Showtime was missing ground upgrades and went +3 flyer attacks when he didn't have any flying units? He was using ground units all round and only once produced a handful of carriers.

I like that you bring up the importance of speed, I feel like a lot of people talk about strats but being able to react and use everything to its fullest makes the strats useful

Actual win condition!

I'm not someone who was actively involved in gaming, but I played dota for a long long time, before the last pach when I finally gave up. Playing again and again with the same hero developed muscle memory. To the extent that I no longer thought about what I was doing, and my hands did everything by themselves. I surprised myself because I had no idea when and how I did certain things. I think that is the case here as well. APM depends on length of play and muscle memory. BTW I started playing SC one month ago, so be careful if you run into me.

You could do a "Match of the year" compilation with all the "match of the year" you've picked so far, whatever length it comes

with these matches. ive noticed that zerg units needs to be able to inflict friendly fire on some of their units. if it can damage star ship hull. it should damage the soft side of a zergs underbelly.

reynor gave it his all but he should have went peepee on so many structures in the idle time congrats to SHOWTIME. very well played

Showtime could play this better. If he starts up +1 air weapons earlier as soon as he is comfortable he can get +2 air weapons by the time his first carriers are out which means +3 air weapons will make for an undefendable attack if he can have 4 carriers with +3.

You said it best. This is probably the most incredible game I've ever watched. ...but my real question is why they allow protoss to blast this song repeat for 8+ hrs a day...... Anyway
