And for anyone wondering when Jim picks up a dog tag in the cutscene, it was for an artist at Blizzard who died due to a heart condition, and they immortilized him in Starcraft 2.
Why I have the impression Tychus actually did not want to kill Kerrigan? You know - the slow movement of his trigger finger like he's hesitating, the "Damn shame." line... My theory is, that even as ruthless SOB he was, he couldn't bring himself to betray Raynor as his life-long friend. And since he knew Mengsk will kill him remotely by shutting down his vital organs via his armour in case he won't kill Kerrigan, he preferred quick and painless death from hands of his friend...
+RayPall But he still took the shot, he couldn't possibly know that Raynor would lean a bit towards the left and block the shot. So in the end he wouldn't hesitate to kill Kerrigan.
Chris Goldenmouth In my theory, I think he counted on it. He knew Raynor went through all kinds of hell not only to stop Queen of Blades, but his main motivation was to save Kerrigan. Tychus must've known Raynor would rather take the bullet himself instead of just watching Kerrigan die. So he gave him plenty of time to realize the situation and to reach for his gun. He could just shoot her without a word.
RayPall Still in one of the cutscenes in the Hyperion we see Tychus implying that Kerrigan should die and then placing his (what is it called in english? That cigarette-like thing :P ) on a screen which shows her face.
Chris Goldenmouth Dont know. The whole Tychus death scene is maybe just typical "villain talks instead of just shooting" moment...but my theory would add some tragedy and drama to it all
I think it's mainly because the terrans actually improved their tech on the marines. You might have noticed that the armor and guns are hell of a lot more beefy and higher tech compared to the old ones. Granted this is mostly due to the developers having better animation stuff but lore-wise the terrans could have just gotten sick of not even scaring the zerg with their stuff and revamped their gear.
I always thought that the invasion scene where the zerg overwhelm the fleet before the attack was reminisce of the invasion scene of starship troopers where the fleet encounters "light" flak, but ends up getting wrecked and losing hundreds of thousands in mere hours after the first wave. I thought it was a nice touch
Just as General Warfield says "I got a battle to win" I felt "you must do what you do perfectly, because that looks dreadfully hopeless" but that's what I love about General Warfield.
Damn that was a beautiful ending to an RTS game, brilliant job on Blizzard's part, they never fucking fail to deliver, unlike Relic, fucking bastards made a legend of a game, Company of Heroes, and then let everybody and their grandma down with Company of Heroes 2.
The ironic part is that this could all have been Warhammer 40K if Games Workshop weren't complete fuck heads and pulled the plug just before the development finished.
R.I.P Michael Koiter... Died at the age of 19 to a heart failure. It's amazing how blizzard chooses the right part to put a lost member of their team...
Do you still remenber the last assault to the overmind? When tassadar sacrifices himself to save our asses? While me and you, just were standing there, watching. Do you remenber!? DO YOU REMENBER!? En taro Adun, brave protoss warrior. I salute you.
That's the thing, they don't. When in space they expel special gases from their body as their propulsion which in turn was created as a by-product by their means of creating special scents for communication. The flapping of their wings are more of a habit, kinda like how humans move their arms when walking normally. The wing motion also generates the energy which serve as the catalyst for the creature's internal biological functions.
HellsRaven4444 Well there's the answer to a mystery that's been troubling me since SC1. Those must be some pretty tough carapaces to prevent their bodies from getting torn asunder by the g forces generated from reaching roughly mach 25 to escape a planet's gravity. It's probably a one way trip too, no clue how they're supposed to get down from space assuming they survived the mission. Maybe they secrete an ablative substance that defeats the friction of hitting an atmosphere at -once again- mach 25. Yeah I know it's a video game but its amazing the kind of questions that come up when you think about it for a little.
You should note that at the end when he carries Kerrigan away from the cave, He comes out alone, which means he probably killed the other marines that were in there too!
They are banshees, they have 2 Rotors at the end, and they are specifically a bomber unit in the lore, firing Whiplash rockets at ground units, and also has the ability to go cloaked.
You are mixing it with Railguns which only use electromagnetical fields to speed up the projectile. A gauss rifle would use both traditional gunpowder and electromagnetical fields to speed up the bullet. As for the weapon size, the suit probably has gyro stabilizators such as the Space Marines on Warhammer 40k lore, hence no normal human could handle the weight, recoil or control the weapon properly. But back to the point, you (kinda) mixed up Gauss Rifles with Railguns.
Wtf is that the real atryl? its been 6 years and i now find out that you're on here. Apparently i'm the only one that noticed. Nice to know you like starcraft too, love your work btw
Other planets can have climates based on different liquids (depending on the temperature scale). For example saturn's moon titan has rivers and seas full of methane and on venus the clouds are made of sulfur compounds
It's just a thought. But I'd love it if Tychus survived somehow. True the death makes for a story with more dept, but I just really liked having Tychus around. The final shoot at the end seemed too slow and hesitant
Makes me cry, this is pure awsomeness. If there is anything I could want more then to be a proffesional gamer it would be working with blizzard. I really hope HOTS will be just as awsome even thou I feel making a story with ZERG will be hard^^
I luv starcraft and i know that one cant pull logic on these vids, but still....when you consider the distance of the cruisers from the surface, and speed of damn shitty mutalisk wings:D...It would take damn long those zerg to reach those cruisers:))
Hang on a minute! How do GAUSS weapons have shell casings? They're magnetically accelerating what is essentially a steel spike at the target, so they shouldn't need shell casings
Don't forget the fact that Kerrigan must live to be able to survive the onslaught of the Fallen One from the future. According to Zeratul's vision, in that future Kerrigan is dead, Mengsk' plan success. But now Jim Raynor know that he must protect Kerrigan to change the future. Mengsk is the one who order Tychus to kills Kerrigan. And Jim must prevent that for the sake of the universe.
That has to be the most American cutscene I've ever seen. I mean, yeah, it's great and all that, but if they cramped any more soldier glorification into it, time and space would blow up...
Look, SC2 isn't Shakespeare, but rampaging around Char killing Zerg made up for it. At least it did for me. Zerg are special little snow flakes anyway, they needed to be kicked down a peg to give the other races a fighting chance. And they were. And admit it, Belly of the Beast was probably the best mission in the game.
space marines more than 7 feet tall and in terminator armor around 8, 9, bio-enchanted with metal lungs and 2 hearts have to face tyranid hives far larger threat than zergs dont mention that they are born only to fight... terrans are hardly a karskin imperial guard squad :)
@AzariahKyras You realise that by killing Kerrigan you wouldn't kill off the Zerg right? You'll just make sure the Hybrids would have no resistance when they enslave them, and set them upon humanity. And there are still a lot of Zerg.
Only Raynor loves Kerrigan, but she is a different person now, and even after her rescue, she still attempts to get even more power, research more next time, and I didn't even mention the Protoss or the Xel'Naga yet :)
At the end did Raynor kill the other marines who were with him or did he just order them to bury Tychus? I'm thinking he just ordered them to bury Tychus coz when i looked at Raynor he only has 1 bullet mark on his armor. Though i'm not sure whether the other marines are from Valerian's troops or Raynor's own men.
I'm no WH40K buff, but I see quite a few differences. 1) Space Marines are genetically enhanced. Think: Terran marines with constant-stims. 2) The W40K marines seem to have armor that's at least 4X as thick, made of some advanced material. 3) The standard bolter fires... pretty much tank shells. Think: automatic-firing siege tanks with each marine... Oh, and W40K marines EXCEL in melee... think: Dark Templars...
Only because they aren't armed or armoured like a Space Marine. A Space Marine's armour is far more armoured with different layers of armour. The Space Marines themselves are heavily augmented. And unlike the .50 cal bullets the Starcraft marines were firing, the standard Space Marine bolter fires .75 caliber 'bolts' that are self propelling and would penetrate a target and then explode. Yes, very over the top. The SC Marines suits are pretty much just combat oriented space suits.
this game would've been soooo much better if the stupid developers would've left the terrans as humans and not as some comic/cartoonish things, the cinematics of starcraft 1 are very precise that the only big thing in the terran amrine is the suit, not the man itself, i hate starcraft 2 terrans, the fingers look like fricking german sausages, seriously blizzard, this is not fucking warcraft , starcraft 1 is still the best
R.I.P. Tychus. Best character in a whole SC universe. Such a badass SOB! Really feel sorry for him. Read a novel "Heaven`s Devils" - after all that shit what his been trough with Jim... I just think that this isn`t fair.... Damned Kerrigan. And after this stupid rescue she will reincarnate and try to kill everybody again. Jim, in a such thing as war there is no place for such thing as love. You just lost a friend and reanimated an enemy. (Don`t take my shit too serious, i`m just a sick SC fan)
You can be epic without having a script composed entirely of trite one-liners. "You magnificent son of a bitch!" "All in day's work!" "Some things are just worth fighting for." SC1 had dialogue that sounded as though it was being spoken by actual people, and didn't rip off the rejuvenation of Pride Rock from the end of the Lion King to add meaningless drama to an already dramatic story.
@markgaisensei well since its gonna be about kerrigan, i imagine that all 3 will take place during the same time period, just alternate realities. this is basically the result of a terran victory. the next should be a zerg victory with which i imagine Earth itself will fall. The last will be a protoss victory with the Zerg being decimated. Just my 2 cents. I'm probably right though.
That's probably what the case is. Especially if it's for the sake of redundancy: chemical-explosion driven round that then hits the EMF coils of the proper Gauss component. That and it would serve as a "backup" if the EMF coils somehow get knocked out, you've still got that wonderful blast of gunpowder sending metal barreling towards your target.
Nah their Gauss rifles, but as with space battles, it just wouldn't be as 'cool' i suppose. Just seeing projectiles fly out of a rifle with probably only a small electric whine or small clap as the rifle discharges, and well in space there would be no sound at all, just isn't quiet as engaging. Makes it seem more 'human' too probably to see shells and what not.
I kinda liked him to, and after reading the book they just relesed bridging WoL and HotS i miss him even more caus Jim keeps on mourning him bringing up memories has regrets and so on. Thou maybe he survives somehow even after he gets left behind on char. (thou only way i can see that happening is if the zerg replace him for kerrigan maybe)
The original manual says, that the standard marine's rifle are Gauss rifles. Which is obviously not 100% true, because as far as I know, the Gauss rifle uses an electromagnetic field to accelerate the bullet, which would mean the lack of both bullet shells and muzzle fire. I guess it's a hybrid weapon of some sorts.
Imho, the main difference isnt in armor, they are both armored pretty good but difference is the man inside the armor. Space marines are genetical engeneered beings, 2,5 metres tall, with two hearths, a lot of other extra organs, better reflexes etc. Marine in starcraft is just a resocialisated dude, boosted by drugs in shiny armor :-)
I wouldn't place all the blame on Kerrigan. After all, Mengsk is the one that had Tychus in a strangle hold, and he's the one that betrayed Kerrigan to the zerg and made her the Queen of Blades to begin with. Oh, and if you read Devil's Due, the book after Heaven's Devils, it makes the cinematic with the jukebox even better.
Maybe, but if Raynor's armor can block the shot from Tycus's Gauss rifle, then i doubt a 6 bullet revolver could penetrate Tycus's armor, meaning that in order to actually stop tycus from killing Kerrigan, he would have to shoot Tycus somewhere the armor doesnt cover, which at that point, only the face isn't covered
@DarkBoneFTW They wont though....they make more money off the games then the movies if you think about it...15 bucks a month, plus xfers, name changes, dual boxxing...spammers...they make alot lol...not even counting accual sales lol. Movies cost alot to make and in the end often make only 23% profit average...
@Lleanlleawrg well what I would have wanted was options, either let Tychus kill Kerrigan, or kill Tychus, then make 2 sequels each continuing from what choice you've made, the kill Kerrigan ending would end up with moping up the Zerg and defeating the Protoss once and for all, and the kill Tychus ending with the next upcomming sequal Heart of the Swarm
@SkanRashke You are right, they do not need to breath, in order to synthesise ATP or other forms of chemical energy. Anaerobic organisms on earth are able to metabolise without Oxygen, to some, Oxygen may even be toxic. I'm only curious about their exoskeleton, which apparently can isolate the pressure differences and kinetic potential forces from their internal organs. xD
M. Koiter? Kewl reference from the guys at Blizz ^^ Michael Koiter was working on World of Warcraft when he died during development. He's also found fame at the Shrine of the Fallen Warrior in the Barrens, where there is a spirit healer named Koiter, and the initials M.K. on a tomb with a dead orc warrior.
