I love lategame Matches. Those hundreds of zerglings running into the terran defence just looked so epic. And I love seeing all the different units the game has to offer
do you think that was the reason he lost? like, thors just got killed too fast then? is there a better way to deal with broodlords? maybe go heavier on vikings since if you have enough of them they can oneshot broodlords (then you hit and run a bunch of times)
@@thomaskunz3089 I still dont get why the pros dont use Hellbats with blueflames. They are cheap, and eat lings and broodlings for breakfast. Just like 8 or 10 in the first row...
That final engagement was hard to watch as Dream spent way too much time fighting broodlings instead of jumping on top of the broodlords. I saw this live and even the casters were surprised at how poorly Dream seemed to play it out. Reynor probably just exhausted Dream from the long game.
Can you explain if it is designed that terran late is stronger? From what lowko said he forgot some of his army in base and his upgrades and was still even. Imagine if he didnt commit those mistakes.
@@arthurfraco2970 Individual units for terran mech are stronger because they take so much longer to build. Zerg's advantage is in the fact that they can completely remake an army in a matter of seconds as long as they have the larva. A terran mech army will take several minutes, but really the fact is that Thors are literally meant to be the counter to brood lords. So in a head to head fight the Thors SHOULD win if they're played properly, but as patrick said the thors spent the vast majority of their time just shooting broodlings which really does nothing.
@@zepenance9571 Part of it was because the Thors were on a choke point, and not all of them were shooting at the same time. Meanwhile Reynor micro his BL almost perfectly, get in, shoot and then move out of range of the Thors. Had this been a head-on fight where Thors can move foward freely, all the BL would have been destroyed.
@@alexsis1778 it was just because reynor blocked the thors in a joke point and as lowko mentioned the broodlings blocked the path of the thors. Reynor was ahead in this game with his strategy .
So cool to see starcraft 2 is still being played. Me and my friend used to play the origan starcraft as kids and we didn't have a good enough computer to play starcraft 2 LOL or it got delayed or both. MOVED TO PC AND FOUND STARCRAFT IS BEING PLAYED ANDDD FREE. mannn so dope. This vids are cool to watch btw good content.
O yea this is gonna be EPIC for sure. Thors are gonna derp against each other and the broods are gonna brood Edit after watching. Yea pretty much what I expected... Not the best map or location for mass thors. I wonder why they never break those rocks? I bet that would have let terran win. I am always puzzled by these things. Great cast lowko! I will probably honestly watch this a few more times to study.
So do any marine variants with bayonets (War Pigs during campaign and Mira's Maurader skin marines). The War Hound also has a melee animation (they punch) that's only seeable during HOTS campaign when fighting them with melee units.
@lowko What’s your opinion on adding hellbats to the Terran force? If I’m reading the numbers right, +1 hellbats should one-shot broodlings at all upgrade levels, which would clear up the pathing for the Thors and help keep them alive. Seems like you’d only need 5 or 10 to keep the broodlings at bay
Protoss have Carriers with the ability to recall them. Terran have Battle Cruisers that can independently teleport. Both are able to mass up and wreck anything in their way in a large Armada. Zerg have Fail-lords that can't travel through the network, are slow and literally have multiple counters. They also have Derp-tralisks that can't step over units and literally clog army mobility. Zerg is like playing StarCraft 2 on hard mode.
agreed, Lowko can make the casts very enjoyable and easy to understand, with just the right amount of humor and jokes to keep us entertained while the game reaches a bit of a low
Fantastic game, and great cast as always. I’m trash at Starcraft, so this question may sound dumb: would the fight have gone better had Dream replaced his Thors with several Vikings? Since so much of Reynor’s supply was caught up in brood lords, I’m wondering if this would have ‘changed the tide of battle’. But then again Reynor had several fungals and spores available,
@GlowyBoi Makes sense. I guess one advantage is that they’re more maneuverable and don’t derp on pathing. But even if he pulled it off, if reynor remaxed with corruptors Dream wouldn’t have had enough money to pump out marines to deal with the corruptors
So zerg actually has a solid late game army: broodlord, infestor, viper, corruptor, ling bane with extra overlords and crawlers. If your opponent didn't finish upgrades. A composition also known as Just play like Ser... huh Reynor.

I actually agree on you with Starcraft being the best esport, I mainly play League now a days (you are free to judge me) and even tho I barely play Starcraft at this point I can't get enough from watching Starcraft pro games while League esport is boring in comparison (I say in comparison for a reason, I still enjoy watching League matches). Starcraft esport is just awesome.
My lord Reynors unit control is out of this world. Yeah you can criticize Dreams Thor micro in the end but that is just one part of the Puzzle. Reynors Broodlord micro was beautiful.

Can someone answer me this: is there a tactics to make a unit like a Creep Tumor or a Changeling, and then friendly fire Broodlings from the Broodlords, out of range of an enemy army/defenses? Is it something that has been seen and done in the past?
I don't like that the Ghost seems to be the counter against all Zerg late game units (broods, ultras, lurkers, spellcasters). I would love to see what would happen to the game if the Ghost would no longer have Snipe (but maybe a slightly more powerful base attack) and giving the Siege Tank an Upgrade that would ignore (some) of the enemy armor when not sieged. Then we would have tanks and liberators against ultras, vikings and thors against broods, etc.
On paper Dream should have won this match as Thors hard counter Broodlords these days. The thing is Reynor is the superior player and it didn't help that Dream forgot his armory upgrades. So somehow Reynor pulled a rabbit out of his hat.
When I see zerglings taking Thors like that I wonder: wouldn't it be a good thing to have a few Hellbats around? Just a few, to deal with the zerglings and broodlings.
