I've tried watching StarCraft multiple times, but it never stuck until I came across Winter. Great commentary and excitement that makes me want to play the game
@@Oyashio202 Actually i played it for like 3 months and got to diamond following his guides, but the game requires too many apm from there and is generally more fun to watch for me
@@eazy2195 Winter have guides to literally probe that APM means nothing when the actions are effective. Go look for them, and please don't let Winter read your comment.
@@jdperdomo Those guides got me to diamond, i know what are you talking about, when i say apm i also mean micro, dodging banelings, stormm, sniping templars, sieging liberators/tanks while steamimg and then splitting while also sometimes having to defend your mineral line at the same time. So it does get pretty micro intensive and you need apm in those moments. Like i said it gets frustrating for me,id rather watch pros do it where the game looks like every unit has a mind of its own
its SO deserved. Stupid bio has always been op, and both colossi and storms are just hard countered with vikings and EMPs ... but oh no now maybe terran has to do something outside of MMM , what tragedy -.-
@@iunary I know you're over here lamenting that Terran ain't Broodwar again, but I don't think you realize this only reinforces MMM right? Ever tried to micro a mech unit out of the oversized orange-flavored Kool-aid packet lookin' ass that is the disruptor? Not a thing, you can't dodge the insane damage this thing outputs unless you have MMM, better luck on your balancing whining next time hoss. P.S. Just get some stalkers and a warp prism, this simple combo makes any important unit nigh indestructible.
This overlay which shows the mineral and gas incomes next to the mineral and gas levels for each player is extremely telling. It's very, very helpful. I wish every cast from every caster had it.
Even when I have seen matches before, I still often find it interesting and entertaining to watch them again with Winter casting them. The passion is contagious, and I really like the pro tips, whether they're called out as such or not.
what i learned never make carriers unless you've been working on air upgrades in the background. only make them when you've already got 3-3 air and even then... seems like a bad idea..
Its more never make carriers when you only have a single high templar. Storms ruin Vikings and Liberators, but Showtime had barely any high templar with the carriers and so a single EMP was enough for Cure to just win without a single storm going off
I think its also very important if you can get your interceptors in time. If you can attack a bit earlier, like say a single terran unit just before the rest arrive and during those first critical seconds have already interceptors in the air nearer the terran army, i think the carrers can do devastating dmg. They are after all, i think the highest overall (not specialized) dps units in the game. But if they get caught the while traveling and they have to stop, get the interceptors in the air... not so hot.
@Manannan anam Interesting didnt know that. tough i would only comparfe Carrers with units that have also a general dps against everything so bcs yes, Libs no since their dps is only against ground (against air its much lower)
Serral: "When I want to lose I build Ultralisks." Any Protoss: "When I want to loose I build Carriers." - Ironic considering it is supposed to be the most powerful non unique unit lore wise.
Because in the lore Carriers are heavily armoured and shielded enough to basically rule any naval engagement with their mere presence. In the lore Carriers are the Starcraft equivilent of modern Aircraft carriers. And there is a very good reason why the U.S. is the current top-dog in naval power worldwide: its because they have more aircraft carriers than every other nation in the world, and the total combined deck space (i.e. the best metric by which to measure a carrier's military power) is more than TWICE that of the REST OF WORLD'S NAVIES COMBINED. So ofc in the lore Carriers would be OP, but if they made them as OP in multiplayer as they are in the lore, people would bitch.
WinterStarcraft is unique because he has a great sense of humor and discernment as a commentator. I watched Day(9), Tasteless/Artosis, Incontrol, etc etc but it never stuck with me. There are rare exceptions like some professional commentators out there that can keep a narrative pace. Well done winter. I'm subscribed.
I do not agree with your analysis. I think Showtime's army composition is more a necessity than a choice, dictated by the current power of the ghost emp weapon. And even though Showtime adapted, Cure still uses the emp with great effect, as we see in these games.
How to win with Protoss: 1. You need to be a way better player than your Terran/Zerg opponent to begin with. 2. Always keep the pressure up. 3. Don't make a single mistake or mis-click even if the game is 45 Min long or you lose. 4. Use some Micro even if your opponent left the computer to get some coffee and the enemy units are "idle". 5. You need some luck during a game no matter what. 6. If there is a "possibility" to win the game, never ever tech switch or you lose. Just try to win. 7. Always play with a smile on your face! 8. Overcome the temptation to switch to the two other factions! 10. Trink Water to keep you hydrated. :)
Even as a Protoss i feel its a big exageration:). But still that last game ... It felt like Showtime defended the widow mine drops as good as anyone could, had better initial skirmish, and still ended in very bad a position ... I mean what anyone could have done better?
WinterSC a pros pro; wished terran had medivac speed and then added in the Fusion Core. Always great casting from Winter! What an exciting game. Carriers wiped out 18:23
A weird fight at 26:50 .Looked light Showtime had more and there was no sieged tanks, he stil got wasted... Maybe not attacking those vikings with the stalkers ? The vikings seems just untouched comfortably shooting at collosus...
Colossi always take a lot of abuse because they can get hit from both air and ground attacks. Personally would like to see them with 50 to 100 more shields to give the a better recovery after each battle. They generally lack gaining value before death.
Jesus what a great game this third one.I dont understand why Showtime didnt make any tempests late in the game, it looked to my newbish eye even 2 tempests would solve the liberation problem, and he already had fleet beacon for carrers...
Great matchups. Impressive showcase of how weak Colossi and Carriers are. You Terrans better make the most of your time in the sun, because the next big patch you're getting nerfed.
@@loecorristo555 as showtime explained it on stream with how good the top terrans have gotten with emp and splits using marauder heavy compositions it's just rare to get big storms thus he favors more front loaded damage (disruptors blink stalkers dts)
Cure is really really good but... In order to be a top Terran he needs to learn to split units against disrupter, or learn to juke them or w/e if he wants to become a top tier Terran.
anyone else hurt by showtime's refuse to build 4-5 tempests ? he is playing so powerful siege style and those tempests could add so much to it. force bio to come for him, right on his disraptors.
My god just watched the first game. Cure should have been so dead:), Kudos to him for bringing it back. Shotime played a fantastic game, but somehow Cure dug himself out... Showtime seems to have been working on getting himself out of this well established image of the "Shield" Protoss, i have seen him cheese maybe not often, but regurarly in those longer series...
Top players need to do that even when it's not their style. They need to make it known to the opponent that they can always cheese you. If you always play defensive people can blindly play greedy against you. There needs to be this possibility even in case of the most defensive players.
Back in broodwar they had 4 armor. In SC2 they have 2 armor. Probably because they gave carrier the graviton catapult, that scaled up how fast a carrier can do dps. Now that graviton catapult is gone. It makes me wonder why they didn't get their 4 armor back.
@@bigsmoke4592 There easy countered by zerg the infestor just tears carriars to peaces. Watch the match of serral vs Neeb. Neeb had a maxed Golden armada and wouldnt come near the 20 infestors of serrel. Cause he would either fungal them or nearul parasite them or drop a dozen infested terran.
@@risiamoonfall975 that was last years patch, neural range got nerfed, infested terran removed. Plenty of pro protoss players like to go skytoss against zerg this year.
