Love seeing ultras actually doing something for once!

I LOVED soO's mutalisk play in game 1. I have so many fond memories of playing mass mutalisk in SC1 in middle school and high school. The double ultralisk cavern was 100% intentional. He's done it in other games.

Lowko cheat sheet ;) Heart of the Swarm introduced the Hellbat, Widow Mine, Mothership Core, Oracle, Tempest, Swarm Host, and Viper. Legacy of the Void introduced the Cyclone, Liberator, Adept, Disruptor, Ravager, and Lurker. So, if one views the Mothership Core as a mini Mothership (and it's gone now anyway), each expansion added two new units for each race.

Lowko, I just have to say your are an amazing Commentator. The amount of detail and attention you give to each player giving the audience an understanding their skill level is underrated. Thank you for another cast.

I like how it starts something like "Strategy-wise, I don't like what Soo is doing here..." And then it ends with "I wonder if I can incorporate some of this strategies into my game?" To be fair though I don't think Cure did his best here. He made some questionable decisions in game 1, I think he underestimated Soo and thought he can win by half-assing it. And in Game 3 he started with a cheese and then basically played all game from behind.

35:29 if you look at the hellions, one of them is actually pushed on top of another one with its wheels. I didn't even know that animation was possible in sc2!

I can't remember the last time ultras were so useful and not getting popped like water balloons

Re: Double Ultralisk Cavern. I mean, it's only an extra 200 gas and 150 minerals (+50 for the drone) to basically get your Ultra speed bonus 42 seconds early + not having to remember to go and actually push that button. That's less materials than one extra Ultralisk and at the time SoO was floating nearly 4k resources. While certainly not as obvious as double lurker upgrades or even double hydra, I think SoO was probably thinking, "If I can flood these Marines with Ultras before Cure can get ghosts or libs out, I can win." Or, maybe, yeah, he plunked down a second Ultra Cavern by accident as like, "Welp!"

37:05 - Reminds me of the early Wings of Liberty previews where Blizzard hyped up the Viking as a base raider, able to fly behind enemy lines, transform to ground mode to attack the enemy's infrastructure, then turn back into fighter mode to escape when the counterattack comes. Yeah that never really happened. Until now. XD

soO channeling his inner Zap Brannigan I see. Seriously that creep spread was nuts, but Lowko didn't even comment on it being the unsung hero of game 1 for the Zerg; That's why Cure couldn't take a breather, the creep was just enabling such rapid reinforcements.

That first game was probably the best lore accurate TvZ we've seen at a pro level

He plays zerg in such a roleplay swarm kind of way Its really enjoyable to watch.

With all these Korean SC2 pros who have done their mandatory military service, I am terrified of the thought of S.Korea ever going to war. Imagine all the cannon rushes, proxy barracks and baneling busts. Utterly terrifying.

Dear Lowko, Soo is not gambling, he is smarter than other top level zerg. He knows that ling-bane + muta is a much more effective counter against marine-medivac based armies. That is because, of course, because mutas shuts down medivac movement, which is the cornerstone of so many terran strategies. Also, diving into terran armies with small units (lings and banes) are an effective play against widow mine as it forces to deal friendly fire.

I KNOW HOW TO FIX ULTRA! Just let them walk on top of zergling and baneling units (at least it would be interesting to try it out, might cause some insane dps on structure if a full zergling line and ultralisk line is hitting the same thing). At least it would fix the inconsistency.

Anabolic boost is a nice upgrade for offensive mobility but it's negated by Ultras being too chunky to even be a useful T3 melee unit. I wish they would just give Zagara's Abberation passive to walk over lings to Ultras.

I think you forgot something about soO's old school style. It's not *just* Ling Bane Muta. It's *a lot* of Ling Bane Muta.

kinda nice change to this intro that You introduce player's and then show up the scoreboard. I like it. Dunno if it wouldn't have better immersion if You shown the scoreboard right when saying "spawning in the corner". But that's just my opinion. Dunno if it's new or i missed it and You do it from some time, but i noticed it right now :v

This was super interesting to watch! Love this Zerg playstyle, is more "organic" than the super safe style of other players. More gambling is more entertaining (Gambking is bad, kids, don't gamble)

I think the ultra just needs to be able to walk over smaller zerg units like colossus. Then they wouldn't derp so hard. That would help them alot. Zerg death ball

How are Mutas weak exactly ? They can take two direct widow-mine hits, and none of them even gets killed, and then they regenerate that damage extremely fast. I think they are overpowered.

Lowko i dont understand why you think Ultras are SOOOO bad. it takes 4 SNIPES PER ULTRA to kill it. even if there are ghosts on the field if you dont kill those ultras SUPER FAST they will do a TON of Damage. Libeators arent a Great Counter to Ultras they only are if your using them defensively. so think if you have 8 Ultras and they only have 10-12 Ghosts on the field. it wont work too well because it would take 32 snipes to kill them. 10-12 ghosts dont even have that many snipes and if you continue to build ultras the ghosts will stay absolutely depleted of energy and if their army is marine/marauder heavy ultras are good against it.

I think flying the mutas to the thrid was satistically the best choice to. not have a turret. Do to the fact that its going to have the least amount of economy when compared to the first and the natural and you know terrain can only really afford 2 turrets at that stage in the game. Also if you look at the timing of the double ultralisk and his decision to even go ultra yes it was a gamble but he had not seen any indication that ghosts or libs have been placed on the board plus you have a contained terran with little to no scouting info and a economy on a timer... Ya got balls kid and a big brain too. Cure automatically transitioned to ghosts. Libs need upgrades the ghost bassically come out the box ready to go, i think he should have made a few libs or atleast micro your mines into mutalingban not the tanks. I concur on the byun, clem or maru comment. You can only win a war when you know who your fighting. I think the middle east can contest to that. I dont think soO would play that style against them, but at the end of the day tho is was bloody of hell good match id say. How zerg and terrain should interact.
