That's the brush I was going to order for myself until I saw the Switchback 400 and I could get the same knot and put a badger knot in a different blank for it. Last week I got another blank for that and a boar knot. 3 knots 1 handle is pretty cool stuff. I like the Roswell knot so well I was actually thinking of getting my dad a Starcraft and getting him to give up the canned Gillette shaving cream. Great vid. -James the Albany dude.

Very good! There's a ton of value in PAA's brushes besides the great knots. They have some great classic designs that no one else is doing and if you look at the reissued Rubbersets, PAA's brushes are a steal. If they had been making brushes when I started, I would have started with one of their's. Have a great one!

I own it but haven’t tried it yet. Although, I have used the same fibers on the Phantom Aerolite. I’ll be using my StarCraft with the Hotel Cecil CK-6 base this fall. I’ve tried 4 brushes from PAA so far; Aerolite, Astraeus, Solar Flare, and the Atomic Rocket, and they’re all great (IMO), so I’m sure I won’t be disappointed with the StarCraft. I really appreciate how you break it down to several categories and grade accordingly. Thank you for all the reviews you do, they’re very informative.

Great review Tobin. I have all the PAA brushes and they are my favorite. The Peregrino seems to work the best for me when bowl lathering for some reason better than the Starcraft. Even though they have the same fibers. For face lathering the bulb Atomic Rocket is the best. That is only my opinion but YMMV. Have a great week. 👍

@@ChristopherDanielJones The Peregrino, Cyclotrode X, The Starcraft, and Amber Aerolite are my favorite for bowl lathering. Atomic Rocket is my favorite for face lathering along with the Simpson T3. That is just my opinion and what works for me. Hope this helps. The Peregrino was my first brush and that is what convinced me to buy more PAA brushes.

I agree the two brushes do behave a little differently in fact I've noticed a slight differences with a lot of them. I think that has a lot to do with Doug intentionally making small changes. I love these brushes. Have a great 4th!

Great review. I have this knot in an artisan brush and it is very nice. I definitely need to look at PAA the next time I'm looking at brushes as they have some nice ones and their prices are awesome

What depth did you set the knot to? I have a handle coming and need to set a 26mm Roswell in it. Definitely do take a look Mike. Personally I like or love all of them. I have my favorites 😉

The most common complaint is that they don't have enough backbone but they are perfect for Croaps imo.

The biggest flaw that I see with PAA brushes are their backbone, like I understand that they've made them so soft so that they can show off on how easy their soaps are to lather with but in my use case, I don't use brushes for specific soaps only. in my den, I use them in rotation based on whether I'm gonna use a hard soap or a soft soap/cream in order to prolong the brush's lifespan before a knot swap is necessary.

I agree, to be an all-around brush they would need more backbone but yeah they are intended for soft soaps because of what Doug makes. For the harder soaps I just reach for a Boar. But anymore my den is mostly croaps. Have a good one!

I use paa brushes for hard soaps all the time. They work great. I also used to think I needed a lot of background in a brush, but you really don't need any more backbone brushes than paa brushes have, in my experience... arbitrary preferences aside.
