I started playing in 1999 and still play, watching this brought back so many memories like drone floating and photon rushing. I remember the late night summers when I was a kid. Always playing ranked with my team. If there's any 2k(kontractKillers) members reading this I think about you guys often. Sincerely 2kDarknessman21. 2kPyroPenguin if your out there I miss ya brother.
ah, a youngster. I was 40 in 1999, had played Warcraft over LAN and so much fun. Still play the occasional SC2 game, still looks and feels good, a solid environment that has evolved into something suiting many styles of play.
Always brings a smile on my face everytime i see this... the memories thats been intertwined with this game and its cinematics is trully one for the ages...
True. Is just the same as they had been holding to khala as much as to worship… it is just same to us… what happen when we go on without our version of khala? … FREE!!
@@khootimothy1131 our version of kuala? I don’t think we have… cuz we promote critical thinking and individual thought, it’s in our education system. We oppose authority telling us what’s right and what’s wrong, unlike some authoritarian regimes, they all kissing their government’s butt, worshipping them.

@@luskito lol MS ? in stocks they are MSFT so I had no idea what it meant lol but yeah I hope MSFT can milk all of blizzards IPs in a meaningful way :)
ya, i started playing in 2010 at age 19. this absolutely brings tears to my eyes. these cinematics and stories were crafted with so much love. its overwhelming.
This game will always be my favourite in my list, along with Red Alert and Warcraft. Thank you for the great game, Blizzard. Well, let's see if MS is going to relive this franchise back. If they ever do, of course.
"It's all due to a Wall Street Journal story which claims that Blizzard has spent around $100 million on development, which would make it one of the most expensive development projects in gaming history, on any platform." Was that right?
I've always been really impressed how good the story telling was for Star Craft. For most video games the back story is little more than an afterthought but for Star Craft it was always the Heart and Soul of the Game. It's hard to appreciate just how much work went into the story behind Star Craft unless you watch all the Cutscenes together and then you realize it's NOT a video game with a story it's A Story that includes a Video Game.
For those that may not know: A) this is actually starcraft 2 and all of its expansion cinematics. none of these scenes are from Starcraft 1/brood war(the opening is a redux of Starcraft 1 Kerrigan being betrayed tho). B) ALOT of the story is missing here in this "movie" because most of the story is told through actual gameplay and voice dialogue from that gameplay. Its a pretty significant chunk of story missing aswell. for example alarak and his army is seen in a cutscene for a couple mins but says not 1 word and is a fairly important (and popular at the time) character. Same thing goes for the primal zerg which explains the origin of the zerg. Its really sad to see what became of blizzard because blizzards BS pretty much ruined the potential of this franchise. it SHOULD be bigger than League of Legends, ESPECIALLY as a esport, but blizzard just stopped caring after dropping the ball at some point.
Thanks for calling this out, especially since RU-vid is putting the 1998 StarCraft beneath the video. SC could have been a bestselling SciFi movie franchise, or MMORPG, or even first person shooter if they hadn't killed SC: Ghost. Instead we have skins and PACKS of skins.
First game I owned as a child and that I play still today, and always will. The story is better than any movie I've seen or read. Blizzard, please keep it going.
That last bit, when I first watched it... I cried like a bitch. I was invested in Jim and Sarah for years, as the games were coming out. And to finally close on them being together in peace after all that cosmic bullshit the universe threw at them... It was overwhelming. Tears left my eyes, it was like one of 4 times I cried as an adult, and other 3 times were real people in my life dying.
I played wc3 on battlenet, diablo 2 and expansion on battlenet up until like 2009/10. I hadnt played since but will always agree Starcraft was just as good as those games if not better.
Since 2018 Hollywood has been screwing up a lot of live action films from animation. Best Blizzard keep it to themselves and not let a woke director twist it for virtue signaling like they have been for everything.
Would be a total failure, we just are a minory and producers will have to make decisions about changing the plot for something much more casual and mainstream in order to get some of what they will expend on the production, yet it will be a total economic failure and SC will take probably about 4 to 6 movies to condense a coherent lore. And if is a succed, it wont be the SC we knows.
@@lylesenior9967 haha yeah! During a 3v3 Hunters game, 1 person would disconnect from the 2 hour dial up connection which ruined the gameplay for all of us!
You need to start from SC 1 then broodwar, then this one. There are several parties within each race, each with their own intentions that get intertwined several times then go separated ways, forging alliances, betrayals, plots and whatnot. So when you get to SCII a lot has happened already and has a lot of relevance already by the first second of the story on SCII. So, you cant really get it solely on this one.
Just remember. Put the chicken in the egg. Then smash the egg against the wall. Now rub the goo allover your body. Now smack your ass and watch it jiggle. Jiggle Jiggle Jiggle. lol.
Arcane was amazing, but we cant even try to grasp the potential of StarCraft... this story goes far beyond the void, just imagine what can be done with it if it lands in the right hands... I hope that one day this idea will get into the head of someone who can make it become a reality!
It's already too late for Starcraft to turn into something interesting. They could've done something with the ending of Starcraft 1. Instead they turned it into a Michael Bay movie. It's fun, but also terrible and predictable and empty now.
I don't know the back story of StarCraft or anything about it but i know it has a strong fan base. Have you ever read any of the Warhammer40k books? Kinda looks like that to me
I am always smiling excessively after watching all of this again! It is beyond clear to me that there is so much story in this game that making a Full TV Series to tell the whole Saga from the beggining (BroodWar- SC2) out of this would not only be possible, but would be amazing! I can only keep writing letter/email pleading for this to be so with my fingers crossed!
Jim Raynor gets shit on the whole time but finally gets the girl in the end. Truly brought a smile to my face when I finished the game. What a story, I wish Fenix could have saw it.
The love story is the worst part about Starcraft 2 by far. Raynor from Starcraft 1 hated Kerrigan, but of course they had to spin it around to some bullshit love story.
@A. Jonez In the briefing before the Mission "New Gettysburg" in SC I, Raynor shows feelings for Kerrigan when he tries talking her out of going on the mission to stop the Protoss from destroying all life on the planet below, (Tarsonis I recall, Mar Sara was already cleared), so there was something between the two when she was human. However, when she became infested by about Zerg Mission 4 to 6ish, yes, Raynor showed more hatred for her, especially later on when Kerrigan assassinated Fenix, (no one cared about General Duke lol). Ultimately, I agree the love story in SC II is a bit overplayed and I miss the Kerrigan from Brood War, who was a brutal bitch that declared herself "queen bitch of the universe" before the final mission of SC I Brood War, The Omega.
@@allethre I can't blame you, this is a truly well written and greatly presented story and series.. play it, if you have the time for it ;) I've played them for countless hours for years.. I can't say that all of the parts are equally good, but you can't disappoint in any of them. Hats off for blizzard.
I loved this game. I can remember many 24 hour gaming sessions. Too many. But it was great. It’s sad to see the companies that presented these games turn to so much dust.
even if its 20 years ago I still get emotional when watching this, a true classic, imagine blizzard was able to make a quality game cinematics back then, how much more with the current technology. I hope MS can bring back and revive Starcraft.
Time flies lol. I play this game around age 20+ and now I'm around 45+ I'm still wonder till this day on why the Zerge choose the redhead as their leader.
That was an Ultralisk to be precise :P One of the Biggest Zerg land chad units you can make next to Brutalisks ;] And Viking pilots are amidst the best cause the transformation AIR-Ground mode can be lethal to unexperienced pilots - Now to witness such avionics as transforming AND blasting Miniguns? Spectacular (Kinda shame that Viking gets one tapped by Ultra xD)
@@natekerrigan7242 I'm sure he had a friend or family member in that tank that got crushed and had a lapse of enraged judgement. Maybe worth a miniseries that story ^_^
How they came up with these epic stories or where they stem from is a mystery. Truly look forward to a movie series of this saga and Warcraft. If they could put green aside and make the dam movies they will benefit.
True. Warfield's lines were amazing in this scene. It had so much impact esp "What if Raynor could see you right now?" It is among the best scenes in the series.
It's hard, Netflix/Hollywood is too lazy to write up new stories. They only like to rewrite anything that is good and ready to turn them to shit show, like LOTR, Witcher...
@@hoangjoe StarCraft is based off of 40K, Starcraft and Warcraft only exist out of salvaging the assets they had already built by the time their deal with GW broke apart, so be careful when bitching about other people being too lazy to come up with something new
Ahhhh!!! Those late nights playing Starcraft with players from all over the world, often getting kicked out of games because my Internet connection (via dial-up modem) was too laggy 🤣
Blizzard games will always be the best. Star Craft is an absolute master piece of a game. the videos are unlike any other. I haven't played in a while but want to go back and watch the clips and found this. the story line for this game was absolutely crazy from the first star craft to now. I hope that MS does better then activision did with Blizzard games. KEEP STAR CRAFT AND BLIZZARD GAMES ALIVE!
Missed the beginning bit. Love the intro when you first play Wings of Liberty campaign. The convict getting suited up its a brilliant scene. Theyre all brilliant scenes but that one just did it for me
Great cinematics and scenes well made and well down, if only I had a good PC to enjoy playing this game or playing it with one of the consoles I know to make a playthrough worth while.
you can see the influence this game had on Halo in every way. the swarm the space solders the guys with energy blades the energy blade itself to name just a few thing
@@jondou7720 Yeah I loved that line, so I responded with one of the lines the Zealots said when you selected them :D I believe it's spelled Auir. If you clicked on Fenix enough, he'd say: "I fear no foe, for the Khala is my strength! I fear not Death, for our strength is Eternal!"
They would ruin it like everything else they tried to "make better" than the original. Look at Star Wars, Cowboy Bebop, Halo, or any other adaption of childhood greats. Best to leave it in our memories as the legend it is rather than be forced to live with the abomination it would become.
Just enjoy this because even though Warcraft the movie wasn't a complete dumpster fire they really didn't come close to hitting the mark, what makes you think they could do any better with StarCraft? Also remember the live action American dragon ball movie? Now that was a dumpster fire of pure ish and IMO it maybe possible to make a good live action DBZ movie I weigh more to it's never going to happen so I just enjoy the cartoon and not worry about a Hollywood dumpster fire
Omfg this was epic 😭😭😭 just awesome video guys i cant tell you how great this was after playing the game my whole life almost im 24 now and i played this the first xmas it was out ider how long ago it was but this was like bring my whole experience of this game from day 1 till now together thank you for this
When I watch these cinematics I realize how powerful our actual militaries are in comparison. Their tech is super advanced in some ways but hugely overmatched by ours in other ways. Like some of our ordnances would just wreck the zerg so fast it wouldn't even be fair.
@@shawnadams1460 you and the fps guy have the right idea I think - the MMO space is still dominated by Warcraft, why would blizzard step on their own toes? But, a Titan 2.0? A MMOFPS with a persistent world, akin to a more fantasy version of Star Citizen or the like? I would absolutely play that. Or it would be pretty easy to make a hero shooter in that vein - but, they'd be stepping on their own toes again with that.
Designers were so much better at making games back then, those artist and storyteller were fantastic. I played SC, and SC2 countless times, such great campaigns.
any other games hiding hours of well developed space opera inside of them? this was a good watch even though I played the game as a casual for like 6 months when it came out
The last several levels in Brood War in SC I are incredibly intense. Highly recommend, and a great storyline. SC II has all kinds of fresh additions to the tech tree and the newer style of graphics in the cinematics definitely grew on me.
I spent so many hours playing this game as a child, I was on battle net 15 hours a day trying to rank #1 I never got it but I made top 100 , I started playing with Terran then fell in love with Zerg
@@rodrigocunha4103 can i ask you somethink about starcraft. is it worth to play this game and is it still popular. right now i am playing league of legends but its boring for me kind bc there is not fun and comunity is very toxic whih i dont like at all
@Johnny NoCare didnt see full cinema of this movie, but i could say that i fall in love with kerrigan or should i say queen of the blade. i love story between jim and sarak kerrigan. also what could you say to me about zergs? didnt understund races, how many is there and whats the strongest?
@@malenicamultifaker6696 Just play it, it's amazing and stands the test of time. SC2 is still a legit eSport today, as long as you can hit 200+ APM, you'll have fun...don't watch RU-vid vids of Korean kids with 300 APM playing, it'll put you off. 3 races; Terran (Space Marines), Protoss (Eldar) and Zerg (Tyranids). All have very distinct strengths and weaknesses, you have to play the games through and A LOT of online PvP to understand this completely but if you understand what a 'build order' and a 'hard counter' is, you'll know what I'm talking about. Enjoy!
