I remember counting down my first year's last days, fishing and collecting hardwood. I'd put up with standing completely still and catching 50% trash 50% carp just because I'd be entranced by this song. Long time since then, and coming back is just... wonderful.
It's nearly impossible to describe in words, but there is just something about this melody just that strikes a chord within me. It's such a majestic and graceful tune, like I genuinely feel that I'm on an epic quest in this fantasy world. It also gives me mad holiday vibes, I'd imagine listening to this during Christmas or something.
It's probably the dorian mode scale that he used! Dorian is just a minor scale with a raised 6th that makes it sound more mysterious and otherworldly since you wouldn't normally hear that surprise note in a minor scale, it's a staple tool in fantasy music. ConcernedApe is a really awesome composer in addition to game dev!
@@oliviasanborn5148 Oooo interesting, thanks for letting me know! I'm actually a music producer myself so stuff like this definitely helps. Since you said the 6th was raised, would that technically make the key F maj/Dmin?
@DOGE[tm] responds to old comments that’s actually a good way to look at it since Dorian (in regards to the key of C/white keys on the piano) is based on the second scale degree! If you were looking at a key signature it would absolutely appear to be in the key of F/d with just the B-flat, but since the tonal center/tonic actually rests at G, it becomes G Dorian rather than F major or D minor.
@@oliviasanborn5148 Ohh I see, that actually makes a lot of sense now! Because I looked up the key for this song and most sources say that this is in G minor, but G Dorian Mode only has one flat so the results were contradictory. I guess the key detection software based it on the tonic, which was G.
@@KingTheDestroyer Hey man, glad to hear you're feeling the same way. Since you're here, may I also interest you in this cool remix I did for Sebastian's theme (Echos) in stardew? Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aKuredu7Ths.html I feel like it would make more sense if I made this reply using my music account, but am too lazy lol
hmmm someone could probably make a deep dive and look for all the inspirations Eric Barone took from other songs. there`s definitely November Rain in Cloud Country at 0:50
Best theme in the game. I love the cheeriness of it, but there’s a certain amount of mystique as well. Sure you may spend most of your time on the farm...but there’s more to the world out there. There’s a cave full of monsters to fight, a sewer with a dark but oddly friendly spirit, a town full of interesting people. Then you stumble across this hidden shrine in the forest, surrounded by slimes...and you feel like a kid again, wielding a sword, fighting these strange creatures. Oddly nostalgic.
wielding a weeb stick? nah man, axe or hammer is where its at. sure you may need to create a few files and insert them, buts thats a small price to pay compared to using a weeb stick.
This is like this 'Secret of the Forest' track in Chrono Trigger, so beautiful but you barely hear it, unless you actively seek for it, wish this would be expanded into some zelda like woods, or Secret of Evermore had a nice dark woods area with that nice maze like structure.
This will always be my favorite OST. The mystery of this forest, everything is wonderful. Why are there slimes there? Why is there a statue that looks thousands of years old? People worshiped this statue? It's so mysterious and calm, and it suits the place so much.
Grate for walking around in the woods especially one in the northwest and northern CA it makes u feel like ur in stardew valley (since it based around that region of North america)
Interesting to see all of the audio nostalgia in the comments, primarily from different sources. Personally, this track immediately struck chords for me similar to "A Wish" from Secret of Mana.
+StevenSendak Three different games in fact. Secret of Mana Legend of Zelda Chrono Trigger It looks like Zelda while sounding like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger.
How the hell did i miss this ? I have listened to the entire soundtrack in spotify like 100 times now, and this is the first time i am listening to this.. Wow..
Like others have said, this is a really deep vibe that's quite distinctive, yet really hard to explain. It just has to be felt. It truly does deliver something powerful to the whole consciousness. ConcernedApe is such a brilliant and unique musical magician.
I never thought i would cry to a game music in any point of my life since i did let me tell its story. We had a 2 real life years old farm with my 3 highschool friends we had to put an end to it because they all were going to college except me. I had to study one more year to get into a better college. I told them the situation and that i cant play with them anymore. They sold all of our items/animals and bought beer with all of it and we shut the game with this sound in the background, drinking beer... 😫
reminds me of old mcd back when i used to watch aphmau as a kid, i feel like i just discovered malachi's moving castle or a werewolf tribe or something
honestly i wish this was one of the soundtracks played during sebastian's TTRPG heart event. or was it? i can't remember. either way, this very much fits the fantasy setting of solorian chronicles.
wow...this music is just sooo calming... i like this music it my fav except sometimes the music glitches and it plays spring or other music when i reenter the secret woods...
