These may objectively be the "best" armor sets, but personally I'd rather pick a set that I like the looks of (ie the navigtor set) even if that means less than perfect stats.

That’s exactly why I’m rushing ng+8. Yeah sure hunter armor is the highest. But that bulky black suit is just too damn good. I’d wear it even if it was bad. I also think the navigator set is amazing. It’s almost like a crossover between halo spartan and astronaut suit. Looks great. Your choice may not be the best but it sure is one of the finest

Same, I really like the Cydonia armor set which is a weathered green, white and silver version of the shock trooper armor. I love the design on both so i switch it up between the two while I'm playing

That end mixed combo is my daily driver. Phys 418, EM 414, ENGY 401. Thermal 60, Airborne 25, Corrosive 35, Radiation 75. All superior and fully modded., a fanastic set.

Pro Tip: re-roll the mantis armor until you get these abilities +40 carry capacity & -50% weapon weight (on suit) +20 carry capacity (on pack), -25% resource weight & chameleon (available on pack or helmet, these do not stack if you get the same ability on multiple pieces of the set). Then you can give the set to your current companion to boost their cargo storage and make them invisible while your crouching and not moving. You can find other backpacks with chameleon (invis) for yourself or unlock the perk that gives you the ability. And if you every get overencumbered but want to fast travel give as many weapons and resources as your companion can hold with the armor set equipped and then take the armor set from them, this will kind of glitch their inventory to where they are still carrying everything you gave them with the armor on even tho it will show they have less cargo capacity, then once your wearing it you will boost your cargo capacity and then fast travel to your ship and unload everything from your cargo and companion cargo into your ship cargo. Rinse and repeat. I did this originally because i liked the look of my Cydonia armor set better than the mantis set and figured out this handy trick by accident. Also the mantis ship RazorLeaf makes it so some enemy spaceships will freak out and grav jump away, this is tied to the RazorLeaf's ship slot so if you want you can modify or delete all the parts and build a new ship out of the RazorLeaf and still get the same effect.

I'm running legendary bounty hunter armor in my new game +1 current game. I've got almost 400 ballistic damage resistance fully upgraded. I'm very happy with it and looks cool too

@@MrAsmoka I didn't say it was THE strongest, only that it was one of the them. And the game is so easy anyway, even on Very Hard mode, it's more than sufficient for survivability. But it's all down to personal preferences. I do like the look of the Bounty Hunter gear, so I do occasionally wear that too.

I found a common space suit that has just shy of 200 physical resistance and a legendary helmet with over 100 physical resistance. Gonna hold on to those for a while

Getting a good saved game roll and reloading it over and over before you look at the mantis armor is by far the best way to get perfect gear for your playthrough

You can get perks on the Mantis that stack to basically reduce all damage taken to close to 90% from all damage sources if you get the right rolls. Takes a while but its well worth it -Headhunter -sentinel -Combat veteran -Armor plating I was lucky and got those and the rest you can let any roll run on your preference. Chameleon is cool too but doesnt help much in combat.

@@capthavic i mean there is strong influence on designs that came from original Astronaut suits from 1970s. Imo thats such a shame because they look funny, and not like the bad ass armor sets you had from Mass Effect universe or Star Wars for example.

I don't really care much about the defense stats, what I look for is the legendary effects. Mostly to have more o2 and more carry capacity. Because I didn't feel like the damage is overwhelming unless there's like 5+ enemies shooting at you. That really doesn't happen if you're behind decent cover and not standing out in the open. I play on very hard and even a high lvl terrormorph can't 1 hit me, so i can always heal before dying. But I do wear the mantis set that I rolled to have more o2 and carry capacity.

I 100% agree with this. Especially if you are already somewhat leveled up and took some of the defensive perks. Rerolling the mantis set for something like o2 or weight is way more impactful when playing the game outside of combat.

"Best" is really gameplay dependent. I prefer to pick up EVERYTHING I find, and I tend to have way more med packs than I'll ever use. So, for me, the weight of the armor is a key stat, leaving the remainder of my max weight available for loot. For general exploration, I won't leave my ship with more than 50kg total weight, so the Bounty Hunter armor is a straight "no."

Bro .. u missed a huge amazing armor when doing the UC questline you get a full set of matching legendary armor with the UC style this armor looks amazing has the best stats I've seen in game and every piece the helmet spacesuit and Jetpack all come with three different legendary effects. As soon as I found it I dumped my mantis armor. This should have been on this list 100 finish that quest line in order to obtain you get it at Round 3/4 of the way through. Definitely better than anything you mentioned

It is sadly much worse than any of the better drop sets mentioned in the video. I really like the way the helm and pack look but they just don't compare stat wise. He's very much correct about the armors worth looking for in the video. I also wish they had more and better form fitting suits before the Starborn armor sets. The whole puffy space suit thing has some of that first days of space exploration aesthetic but this is supposed to be hundreds of years after space colonization, the technology to reduce that bulky suit to something that would give better mobility should have long since been solved. Kinda the same problem that exists for energy and to a lesser extent particle weapons. They are massively underrepresented in a game that's supposed to be this far into the future.

I played the whole game from lvl 4 to 30 something on very hard with the mantis armor and the mantis suit only for the reat of the game it had holstered wepons as a perk which i couldnt live with out

@@bottleofcat The good thing about the starborn suit is it doesn't require a boost pack as it has one built in and can jump further than the standard packs.

@@Genesis-007 I’d say that one’s of the starborn armor set’s problems and why some non ng+ sets can be better than most of the starborn sets. Starborn armor is only a one piece, and with that you get 6 less armor perks. You also can’t modify the suit either.

At around level 24 I headed off to the far right of the galactic map to level 75 planets, there to farm legendaries. I am now walking around in legendary superior Tracker armor with defenses that when combined with superior helmet and pack, puts Starborn armor to utter shame.

How do you farm them? Bounty boards? Random wandering? Difficulty switching just before a kill? Something else?

@@unicyclepeon I do planet scans from orbit of the main planet (one of them will usually have flora/fauna). I'll also of course scan other planets as I go for more of the same. I am looking for marked outposts and the like. Each of these will either be somewhere I can farm, or it will be a peaceful place with settlers who will offer missions. Even if the settlers do not offer a good mission for farming (don't bother with caves, rescues, etc), they invariably have a mission board. I check those and grab any and all "kill so and so" missions. I also grab ship combat missions, as my ship is pretty tricked out. When I exhaust any mission boards in system, I stand to actually jump to another level 75 system and start over with new friendly outposts. I do difficulty switch when entering a new zone to assure that it loads on hardest, then I reset to the level I feel like actually playing at. Careful, I frequently find myself surprised at how tough the enemies are, then I check the difficulty level and realize I still have it set to hardest. Remarkably I am apparently able to actually survive hardest most of the time, but it is less fun for me and definitely not as quick for farming,

@@Oculariarius bro it worth it don't waste your time on stupid outposts you'll miss FUN but an advice make sure at your 9th run to save before you get into temple to face the hunter because you need when you go to the log to see the normal stoy to have sarah there and the rest of the group because it will be your last run if they was not there and you found new universes you won't have companions so you load the game again to get the universe you want to stay in for sand box and when they give you choice to repeat the quest or do it as star born you don't use starborn do it normal quest to meet your friends all of them and be able to recruit them all good luck

Making my armor seem crazy. On NG+10 lvl 118 and my set has a tad over 500 phy resistance, and tad over 400 Energy and EM resistance. All legendary armor as well.

Bethesda really didn't give us much in the way of unique weapons and armor that's for damn sure but we still got dlc and creation club content to come so hopefully they'll give us what vanilla starfield doesn't have

Unless you mod your game to be more difficult, you simply can't beat the Mantis armor if you save scummed it with the mods you want. Defensive stats really don't mean much, even on very hard. I rolled mine a few times until I hit +20 +40 and reduced resource weight. Haven't needed anything else. You can save scum the Starborn armor as well, which is an upgraded Mantis set basically. But by then, the game still isn't hard enough to warrant scumming for an hour. Just use what you think looks the coolest, defense means nothing.

A forego protection against weapon for the best thermal protection. I find that avoiding thermal damage is harder than avoiding battle damage. Even with thermal stats well over 100 I still get hurt by thermal.

Not going to lie I'm a little disappointed with the amount of space suits and clothing/armor options in this game and having to fast travel in and out of different systems with no where to really fly and have fun with your ship and the faction mission just don't really scream fun but it's a beautiful game just needs a little more but it's still early so I really shouldn't complain

I wish i had known/figured out that its better to pick up unique sets like the mantis set or anti xeno until much later in game as your characters higher level will affect the lvl of the armor. I have base mantis but if i had picked it up at level 60 it would have been refined or advanced and i could use it longer. My fault for watching RU-vid videos on "how to get the best legendary armor in game early!" Videos instead of just playing the game.

I'm in new game +1, and the antixeno armor is the best i got, it has better stats than mantis. But in my first run, mantis was way better than antixeno. I don't know if this happens to others too

First, these stats aren't the best/top they go. Like getting damage on a gun, the stats can go much higher than this - I've had a trackers alliance with 200 physical resistance on it. I found a "Calibrated Mercury Spacesuit" on the roof of a planetary POI near a corpse. It wasn't a legendary or what not version but if it can be found like that, it probably can spawn as legendary. I was like 32nd level at the time but hunting on a 75 level world.

I get that they wanted to be original with their armor sets, but would it have really killed Bethesda if they added more sets that looked similar to the Starborn set, or perhaps the armors from Mass Effect? I'm talking less bulky and more stream-lined... _form-fitting,_ if you will.

Yea you gotta find certain books. Each of these books will unlock a location to visit on earth and one on the moon. Then one on Mars. You get 100xp for each globe you pick up

I’m at ng + 10, and I know this is geared toward ng and ng+1, but nothing is going to beat the armor your given. I’m genuinely happy the same can’t be said for the ships. I love mine!

I definitely think for one PT, it makes sense to go for the best DT armor. But after that, any upgraded advanced or superior armor is fine, with imo it being more important to go for looks. The star born armor is just soooo cool

Starborn armor blows all others away. Starborn lvl 10 is current strongest armor set in game.

I love SF but the spacesuits are the ugliest things I've ever seen. Can't wait for mods. Where's our futuristic spacesuits. And whoever designed the mantis armor needs to be fired 😂😂😂

Anything other than mantis armor. Outfit looks stupid asf. As for a legendary set it has low stats conpared to ones you'll find on playthrough.

Ugly or not, you can save scum it for the mods you want. I'm level 80 and still using it because the game isn't difficult. I went with +20 +40 carry, and reduced resource weight. Unless you mod the game so AI does more damage, Mantis is still the best for that reason.

I'm running legendary bounty hunter armor in my new game +1 current game. I've got almost 400 ballistic damage resistance fully upgraded. I'm very happy with it and looks cool too
