One thing that makes the scale of this game a little more believable is that it's team is apparently 5x the size of the one that worked on Fallout 4 and it's been in development for 8 years, still really impressive but just for everyone wondering how one can jump from games like Fallout to something like this
@@yinyanimations151 that was actually a bit false, Todd said in an IGN interview a few days ago that they mainly helped with graphics, like with motion blur and stuff but combat they developed themselves apparently
@@luca_lwls They're within the same ecosystem though and je also said they helped with the combat of Fallout 4, so I'm sure they took notes from both what did and didn't work in Fallout 4 & Doom. So this is all to say I'm sure the combat is going to feel at least pretty fun even if it's not as solid as Doom's combat.
@@luca_lwls but, if you watch some of the more technical analysis videos of the graphics, the way they do motion blur is super important to the feel of the combat.
@@SilverFang95 like every other game on xbox? If its done right, 30fps looks perfectly fine. The problem is latency and stuttering. But, you likely dont care, so go play LoL or smthn
Can't wait for Warhammer 40k space marine armor and ships mods. Someone might be able to even add in Tyranids or orcs. The modding community is magical at times.
2 points a lot of people forget to keep in mind; 1. There is still so much more to this game than what was shown in this video 2. The mods. The modding community of Skyrim and that games longevity is why Starfield has 1000 planets, for mods and DLCs, this game will live a long ass time. But not only that, anything the game doesn't have, modders can give us. We need more blood and gore and dismemberment? Mods. This is gonna be an absolutely wild decade playing this game. EDIT: I believe Bethesda has confirmed awhile ago that we will be getting console mods for Starfield on Xbox, even if its not all the adult content same as Skyrim, that still gives console players a ton of mods to experience and play with. So even on console the mod experience is gonna be crazy. So excited for this.
Bruh imagine a Halo mod, Starship Troopers, Star Wars, Helldivers, Fallout where House expanded to the stars and fights the Zetans, mass effect, and much more
I went into the direct thinking "Starfield will probably be like, 8/10 at most but I'll still play a ton of it" I came out of the direct thinking "I am NEVER going to stop playing this game and I need to pre order it." I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the fact this game exists and will possibly be out in just a couple month.
Nobody mentions the force powers at the end when the player turned off gravity with a wave of their hand! Do we have space magic? Is that the artifact we found??
It's most likely going to be a endgame ability when we finally put the artifact together and we will unlock some kind of special ability which enables us to manipulate Gravity and possibly more.
I really am not the type to get too hyped early on games, because of too high expectations. But just knowing that Starfield the amount of dialog is more than the entire dialog from Fallout and Skyrim combined, is already mind-blowing. I don't put my hopes high about it not feeling somewhat repetitive, but honestly I'm totally fine with that Personally I think it was clear the moment No Man Sky was released, if a AAA company does a game on AAA level with story-rich content, it will be a banger if done right. It's a very complex task doing these type of games, but im all for it. I really hope the launch works out for Bethesda because saying this is a game in the making since 25 years, does set high standards.
Dude your optimism for this game is so refreshing. Your reaction is exactly mine on the inside but I’ve been burned by so many games I’ve become too cynical for my own good.
Honestly, I have too in recent years... but this made me feel like how I felt when I first saw Skyrim near 14 years ago when I didn't know the first thing about game development. I want that experience again
I think that finding unique items will be easier than people think. I don't think *everything* will be randomly placed. New Atlantas is an obvious example, but I also think that side quests will not be random. I think random geological locations will be resigned to strictly being radiant quests and a little exploration and spelunking that ends you off with some misc. loot off a Skyrim boss chest at the end.
@@novelgiani also Planet Type will probably determine where certain handcrafted quests will generate, like Ice Planets have certain legendary weapons associated only to that planet type
@@theawkwardskeleton6608 I think this will only be for radiant quests. Side quests and main quests will always lead you to the same locations, those areas won't be proceedural.
The Neon planet is going to get a lot of "community content" it seems. Nice of Bethesda to at least set up a nice fenced off area for the naughty. Though that might just encourage more of the mod pages on Nexus being smut... 🤔
When I play this game, I'm going to be keeping a notes file open writing down all the mod ideas I get while playing. Then, I'm going to finally become a mod author myself.
I love that they specified that the planets are procedural, meaning the shape and terrain, but structures locations and other things were hand crafted aside for the IA to put them in random spots when you generate/visit a new planet
I've been trying to temper my expectations, but this video got me so pumped for the game. I'm stoked to see how it turns out, and really hope it's good. Xbox really needs this game to be incredible and from the looks of it, it will be.
My hope is that cities are actually large, I'm not looking for a Whiterun situation. Other than that I already pre-ordered based off this presentation lol, if nothing but what we've seen in the showcase exists it'll still give me hundreds of hours of gameplay to enjoy.
only negative so far is the 30 fps, but locking it there is better than playing at an unsteady and fluctuating 60-30 fps that looks jarring. On older games and newer ones, i think its a good decision because you hardly notice unless you have major frame drop or are trying to point it out. The game looks amazing, fun, and repayable as hell! Plus its on Game Pass??? Im hyped for this game and really just hope it continues to have support. -also the 30 fps lock is only on xbox consoles, PC is fine.
I don't mind the 30 fps lock, though I would appreciate the option for a higher FPS mode for the people who care more about that. To me, visually rich storytelling games like this thrive at 30, there's just something innately cinematic compared to higher rates. Higher FPS is good in competitive gaming settings like CoD and Rocket League, but rich, detailed games like this can use that "limitation" to their benefit
THAT WAS FUCKING MAGIC AT THE END. is this the same world as skyrim? a branch of humans that went to space went the nukes of fallout went off? my mind it spinning brother.
@Zachary Brown just as if it wouldnt make sense in real life if they built pyramids thousands of years ago and to this day we cant replicate it? the adoring fan is a character in the morrowind game, so at the very least it makes enough sense for the 2 games to share a character. and what "rules" of this universe do you know? they havent even scratched lore for the game yet.
@tomnook1929 no it wouldn't make sense as in, space is oblivion in that game, or the afterlife. Stars are tears in oblivion left behind by the gods when they left oblivion. Planets and moons are physical manifestations of gods
"Im so excited dude " i know what you mean .. I just build a 3.6k$ Starfield themed PC just to get ready for this O_o Not to mention the edition +headset+ controler . Even if its got a bad launch ....RELEASE THE MODDERS !
After a month of being out, I would love to see the stats on how many people are mourning the, perhaps less than accidental, end of the Adoring Fan. Poor guy. He just wants to be with his hero.
nah you made one too?? this direct was the only hype they made for this game and god dammit it worked liked a charm. Cant wait to fall in love with a brand new todd Howard game.
28:18 that tattoo actually looks like traditional Maori moko. it's a cultural thing for Maori people. you should look into it. a man getting his moko or a woman getting her kauae is a beautiful occasion. i'm not Maori but i think it's cool.
This game is going to be crazy!! The bar they have set for future games is really high. Makes me even more excited for what ES6 will be like. The detail of the planets they showed are stunning. Also I love how everyone on the team is so excited about this! Like yes they get paid but they have put YEARS of work into this.
I thought i was hyped for the Re4 remake but this is on a different level. Its has probably been since skyrim that I've looked forward to a game this much.
16:21 You've made your last adventure kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene. From where you're standing it must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck. Truth is... the game was rigged from the start
One thing that I enjoy throughout the showcase is how great the music is, it compliments each scene from the environment showcase to the nature around them.
I've honestly never really liked Bethesda games. Not sure why... But I am quite impressed with Starfield. I really hope they can stick the landing. Because everything they said feels like such an ideal video game to exist in.
If starfield is this ambitious I cannot wait to see how crazy The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be. If it's like a mix of Daggerfall and Skyrim I will never play any other game for the rest of my life.
As much as I wish I could run this on pc for the future mods gonna have to get it on Xbox, but it still looks so good. Surprisingly looking forward to this
I think that the scale of the numbers todd spewed really dont connect in some peoples heads because over a thousand is insane. A thousand anything is crazy much less locations. Like they def should have gone the mass efect/ outer worlds route. No one would have been angry if it was about the map size of those games like maybe a little larger but crafted little questlines and special loot and traps like skyrim is what people wanted. Maybe a lot of normal jobs like imagine being a shopkeep or an owner of multiple shops… or like a body gaurd. Just a regular miner idk.
I hope there is some sort of robot building feature like fallout 4 had where we can create a custom robot but this time with its own levels and skills and personality. I feel like the ability to give the robots custom voices thaf can say your name would be fantastic as well.
i was just to hard burned with 76 to be hyped for this game. my head screams "they lie to you !!" but if it would be as they show it it might be a fanatsatic game.
My guess is that they're going for 1000 planets as a way to give modders some room so they can mod their own planets in without having like a billion mods that conflict each other.
There are 82 abilities, each one with 4 ranks, it is obvious that we cannot have all of them to the maximum because we would need to have level 328... In Fallout 76 you can reach level +1000... maybe you can, who knows...
Normandy is gonna be a bit difficult to get right cuz of how curvy/sleek some of its silhouette is, but people will definitely push the modular system to look as similar as possible. If not, mods will take care of it.
I think it will be like when I tried to build my own house in Fallout 76. If you open your imagination up a little and ignore some of the disproportionate parts I got pretty close. Enough that when my friends toured it they recognized it, but it definitely wasn't perfect and there where areas I had to fudge or pretend where normal, like my stairs to my second floor being 3x wider than they should have been, or my basement door being a vault shelter.
my butt is ready man. Incredible stuff showed here, space-magic too with that mini-teaser. It's a space-opera the videogame and i'm all for it ! the modding will be sooo good.
I like how you can do any type of mission by your own choice but I hope in one way there’s a main quest line you can follow and everything else is somewhat like side quests so that there is a sort of ending to the game
Key word: Unbelievably Like, does everyone not remember this is Bethesda, the king of bugs and repetitive radiant quests? Tbh if it ends up being as good as people think it will be, I'd be incredibly surprised.
Oh, I absolutely believe that a huge chunk of quests are contraband, pirating, fetch delivery quests. On top of that, that there will be bugs and issues that will be hilarious to watch. But for me, this gave off Skyrim showcase vibes, and the first bethesda game to do that since. Almost this surreal amount of love from the devs in this video, a level of ambition that only a company who's willing to risk a lot to achieve, I suppose there's this thrill of what this could really turn out to be.
