let them rage, Todd is facing retirement in his age, it doesn't matter for him. and MS will close Bethesda Studios in future anyway.

TBH if content creators and developers take time out of their lives to make mods, then they should be allowed to charge a reasonable fee for others to use them, nobody really likes working for free all of the time, it is nice to provide free content, but if that was how the world worked,...

Yeah, the Starfield Community is definitely not outraged. The "starfield community" is "outrageous" about something different every day because they don't understand what outrage means.

I think the weapon that you receive from the Vulture creation mod is more than worth it. I have no problem paying for mods. At present I would much rather support these creators/Bethesda instead of going out to eat or going to the movies. This is where I am choosing to spend my entertainment dollars. I love this game and will gladly pay for additional, optional content for years to come.

Thanks buddy. It’s nice to see a content creator who isn’t drinking from the gravy train of negative reviews. Here’s the thing about that. Those guys are making money from clicks, telling people not to support modders who make stuff that they can make a living from. kinda sad really. And yes, every single modder would love the opportunity to make a living from it. Let no one fool themselves about that fact. Anyway. Thanks matey

100% agreed. The industry changes, and HAS already made some changes, one being leaning into Microtransactions. The gaming community has made big pushes against it, but unfortunately I think we are going to have them in games whether people like them or not. The people complaining are used to the days of downloading all of their mods for Skyrim completely free. But Bethesda is giving their modding community a better gig here. When it comes to the Trackers Alliance mod, yes it could have been packaged differently. Personally, I loved the quest and the rewards and I have no problem paying a small amount for it. When I play a game for 100+ hours and feel really invested in it, I almost always purchase extra content because that game has become my longterm hobbie and I want to support the devs. And now we can support modders as well.

Oh, who died and made you the king of sensible and reasonable discussion, huh? ;) :D What you've discussed has changed my mind about monetising mods and it makes complete sense. So thank you for this reasonable discourse. I now understand that certain verified modders have put out a LOT of good mods and so they do deserve their work to be remunerated. I have to say that the modding community saved my game which was broken in a couple of places, one which I knew about and another which I hadn't yet got to because of the broken mission. So I'm really thankful to them. But, being on a tight budget, I do find it difficult to buy them, especially as I downloaded a lot of QOL mods to enhance my game. I do think BGS put out a quite broken game (what's new?) and then left it to the modders to show them the way to fix it; and I know that sounds like a grand statement, but I believe there are some great modders out there that BGS should hire full time. The game is excellent, but BGS spoilt it for me at the beginning by being very dismissive of the complaints they received and they didn't listen to the customers but stuck to their own plan. The modding community, however, are fully on the side of their 'customers' or they wouldn't get any verifications. All-in-all it IS an excellent game, and it HAS kept me hooked month in and month out thanks to its graphics which are stunning, voice acting, which is amazing and gameplay which is excellent at times.

Doing a NG+ with mods. It's fine. The community has already put out popular ones from Skyrim. And the storefront isn't littered with junk playlists yet. I'm digging it so far. I'd like to see them remove the pronouns and other problematic agenda driven things Bethz put in there.

Agreed on the Starfield themed mods. Was looking for some nicer space suits but seems its all other spaced themed games or lore. There are some nice ones, but they always seem to have something that I don't quite like. If I could stop playing for a while, I'd have a crack at making my own modded space suits and clothing and other items I'd like to see, but ...can't stop playing it.

Video games are completely underpriced nowadays. It's amazing that game prices have barely increased in the past 10-15 years when we know the cost of making a game has increased exponentially. For the amount of hours I've put into this game and the level of enjoyment I have received, I got the bargain of the century buying the Deluxe Edition. And on top of that the video game community demands a lot of transparency from these gaming companies that they don't ask for in any other aspect of their lives. I want Bethesda to survive and make money. Once Bethesda starts losing money because they offer everything for free Microsoft will close them down and Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Starfield, etc will be gone for good.

Creations as a place for modders to offer paid content is okay, better than them going off to Patreon or Discord like Fallout 4. Bethesda content should be part of DLC and Season Pass, not monetized down to the silly level we've seen with pipboy and weapon skins etc.

Thank you. If someone wants to give there mods away for free, more power to them. But if someone puts 100s of hours of work into a mod, and people are willing to pay it, more power to them! and more power to the person buying the mod. if it is worth it to them, then they will pay it. and more power to bethesda for giving these people a revenue sources and take a little cut of there own.

I prefer paid for mods. I want to support games so they can continue to receive support. Also provides payment for those not working for the company to continue and to improve. They could buy tools (software & hardware) to help. I want to reward creative work, not complain about people getting paid for work.

It is so sad to see people outraged about paid mods. I don't see no evil in making lets say a quest mod with 5+ hours of content and being paid for your hard work. I've seen really talented mod authors giving players the best that they've got for free and then quit because of toxic communities or entitled players....that is really sad and unproductive imho.

Crimson X, there is a vanilla female look and a curvy update. This is the curvy update, which I will say they did right. Sometimes people go over broad with the "curvy" but the author had a nice touch. It adds a lot different outfits for both the player and companions to wear.

No one is forcing anyone to pay for mods. The game at its basic inception is great. I just love how gamers bash a game cause it doesn’t fit their perception. If they made it similar to Skyrim they would most likely complain. Could it be improved, yes but no way not playable. In my opinion the main quest was not long enough and easy.

I don't think the community is outraged. I think (I'm not alone in this) it's the neckbeards with RU-vid channels riling everyone up for a non -issue. 90% are free and those that are paid, don't freaking pay for them. Simple as that. They should all put their outrage away and play the game... or don't

Yes, modders should be paid for their work and yes, Bethesda should keep most fingers out of the modders pockets. Todd needs to remember, it was the modders who kept Skyrim and Fallout 4 on the map.

This is the same review bombing that happened at launch. Starfield always got a bad rep for no reason far as I am concerned. Comes from gamer entitlement. They demand insane game standards and when the game is not EXACTLY what they want. They feel compelled to punish the game devs. Its the digital equivalent to a Karen making multiple yelp accounts to slam a burger joint with bad reviews because her fries where not hot enough or the milkshake was melty. Starfield became a target for gamer Karen syndrome during it's launch. Similar to Cyberpunk. They ignore all the good stuff about the game and only highlight what they hate about it. These people need to get over themselves. They just like being angry. They claim to hate it, but they always seem to have like 200 hours in the game they claim to hate.

So, if they gave it away for free and it automatically downloaded to their Xbox is everyone going to be outraged like when U2 gave their album away to all ITunes users for free? 🤣 Give me a break. The outrage over U2 giving their album away and this so called outrage are all bullocks.
@TheChenny73

@@Toutvids actually, No. The album only downloaded if you had automatic downloads “on”. There is no debate there. Before you comment in ignorance please go get an IPhone, IPod and familiarize yourself with ITunes and Apple Music. People like you are the problem wethers it’s Apple or Microsoft. I guess you’re going to whine when your XBox automatically updates your game (because you had the box ticked) 😂.

I don’t understand why people are so mad Bethesda community as always is coming in clutch. In regards of the only people charging for mods is Bethesda, and a few two motors who know what they’re doing so they do something stupid like a ship interior remodel rather than something like quest or something. That’s just my take on it.

is there data manipulation in your likes to dislikes ratio? Is it possible you are wrong? You sound young, maybe do some research of how good we used to have it. The only way to fight these anti consumer practices, is to be outraged and voice your opinion. if it's not for Gabe, we lost this battle years ago. He knows what's up. Steam can fix the "review bombing" in one day, yet for some reason they don't do it. Hit them where it hurts, right in the review score. Review scores are shit anyway, 99% of games should be 5-7 out of 10. Bring back the old scores. This shit is all inflated and fake. Old gamers know this.

My first BGS game was in late 2001 with Morrowind. I recall all the bugs with that game and I recall post hoc development in content costing money. There is plenty in this world to be outraged about, don't waste your energy on a video game.
@tassey

Good opinion. We live in a world of fake outrage fed by people who get emotional and/or financial rewards for creating hate and chaos . I thought $7 for one quest was unreasonable, but that didn't make me mad. I just didn't buy it. Just like I didn't buy pink alligator leather boots. I have been a patron of Sim Settlements 2 for years. I was a programmer in a former life and have so much respect for the time and effort put in by modders and developers. And I think a lot of the people complaining about cost have no idea of the work involved. There is a Sheltie on RU-vid named Biscuit who was so outraged by the price of something that she vowed to boycott all companies that made stuff she could not afford. I think there is some of that in our Age of Disgruntlement. Keep up the good work.
