Starfield The Problem with Paid Mods

Yep, I only have 100 credits left but the credits are there in Starfield, Skyrim and Fallout 4. I have the Steam version of all 3 games.

I guess i was wrong. I checked it on Steam and it works there too. Weird because on their site they stipulate that it cannot be transferred between platforms. They meant stores not games. I guess i will use my 1000 credits from the premium Starfield update on the Bards College now. I will definitely buy the Vulture creation on a later date like when Shattered Space gets released.

The credits being transferable isn't a problem. The problem is that you can pay real money for mods and they take away the ability to get achievements, like you've done something wrong by paying them, and that's scummy. Now granted, Skyrim has been out for 13 years now, we all have all the achievements anyway, but Starfield is actively launching DLC with more planned, and despite there being a "Select Character" option in the load menu, it doesn't actually work. If I make a new character, even if I name the new character "MODS," that character's saves will be tied up with my regular, paid-mod-free character I used to go through ten universes and get all 240 temples that I intend to do the DLC with. So you can't even really separate a "clean" character from a "Mods" character, since they will put a "[C]" tag on your save for any Creations you use, including the "Achievement Friendly" ones. So like most people, I jumped on the free skins (for guns I don't use), the observatory (for outposts I don't build), and of course the cool armor that I definitely use, and the $7 quest that took all of five minutes, and I don't have any saves from before I started using them, since the game starts to slow down and will eventually warn you when you have around 25 saves, so you've got to go purge all the old ones, and there's no "delete this save, but archive it in the cloud or on a flash drive" option. But we can save all kinds of screenshots and video clips for some reason. (All experiences on Xbox Series X.)

While Bethesda may be enabling it, the fault lies on the mod authors who get verified to make paid mods and they're low quality. Bethesda could at least do better checking, but as a business it's not that it matters to them. They want to make money of course so they'll let mod authors post whatever low quality/content mods they want and charge for them. There will always be way higher quality mods for free anyways

It's being filled with low effort trash. Im worried about this games future.
