It's baffling to me how an AAA game in 2023 can be this bad not just in graphics or AI but in every single aspect but be successful at the same time. NPCs do not exist just in video games we are living among them.

when the cyberpunk 2077 released, i think it is the most overrated and disappointing game ever. But after a few hours of Starfield, I start to think Cyberpunk is not that bad
Cyberpunk was a diamond covered in turd, Starfield is just a turd inside and out. CP has amazing lore, premise, and storytelling and right now it's an absolute blast gameplay wise and graphically. Starfield doesn't excell at any one thing and even if they "fix it" - you cannot fix a weak, childish story and endless loading screens. Also, Bethesda sees nothing wrong with their game, CP2077 listened to the community.
So Fallout 4 has better physics and actually HAS dismemberment. Enemies also have better explosion and death-reactions (but not by much). Fallout 4 allow diving and has at least proper water splashes. Fallout 4 enemies have more capable AI from what it looks like. Outside of the dialogue and the main story (which you better just not follow too intrinsically) and graphics here and there, Fallout 4 just is the superior game. Well I'll be... I love FO4!
I agree the no dismemberment is weird but there will be mods. But also bgs is a surprisingly family friendly developer for their M 17+ rating. No nudity like Cyberpunk, Witcher, or baldur's gate. The tone in their games is also not very dark very often. Fallout 3 is the darkest thing they've made and even it is a hopeful story if you follow the road most followed. I love Bethesda but Fallout should be crushing and brutal and especially nowadays it just feels like a happy go lucky 50s party with guns and bombs. The only reason they have dismemberment in Fallout is because gore was so much a part of the original Fallout. But for skyrim you have to level basically allll the way up on your sword skills to take someone's head off. I honestly think it wasn't a laziness or a oversight. I believe bgs intentionally made starfield low on stuff like that to appeal to a wider audience. A parent is much more likely to get a kid a game that is mature bc of cussing rather than a game that is mature bc of intense gore and nudity. Even further supporting my point...the dancers in starfield are goofy dudes in fish suits. Starfield is supposed to be a realistic future ( Hence the nasa aesthetic)...you really think in a realistic future people are gonna wanna look at dudes in silly costumes more than nakedwomen? I'm 1000% convinced dismemberment and intense gore isn't in the game for the same reason nudity isn't. It wasn't the tone they wanted. So while I wish it was in the game. I don't think it's an oversight or them being lazy.
Fallout 4 has bad physics, especially when grenades explode, it is spectacular and colorful, but has nothing to do with reality. Look at the war in Ukraine, there is a lot of video footage that confirms my statement about physics
Yea bethesda isn't great at adding flavor interactions to the AI ... to even a basic level apparently. "Grenade at my feet? Well I'm not in combat so it's not my problem ..." But now it looks like they're taking steps back in things that they had in games for like 15 years, like dismemberment.
Fallout 4 was a bad rpg but a really fun game, especially with vats and survival mode. Played it for hundreds of hours. It just works! Still waiting for the next gen update.
Every video I watch makes me wonder how Bethesda even operates still. I think they owe their existence to mods ever since Morrowind. Every starfield video I watch whether pointing out stupid shit or someone being illogically positive about it...every video has at least one major WTF for me, every one makes me wonder if this game has been done for 8 years because it seems at LEAST that old. "Next gen" they say, as if people need better computers to handle all the loading screens and all 2 physics systems and the extremely limited spaces all smaller than skyrim with graphics and design just barely better than fallout 4. Amazing.
In Skyrim and Oblivion NPCs had daily routines (something that even Gothic2 had, not to mention games like KCD): go to work ->go eat -> go sleep etc etc In Starfield most named NPCs just stand in one place 24/7 with 1 or 2 idle animation (sweeping the floor with a space broom). Lame.
It's not unpopular, but they wanted to switch it up for their creative benefit. It's a good thing it means tes VI will be fresh. Instead of a skyrim rehash
The fact that you can’t take the clothes from NPCs you kill is a real detriment to this game. Bethesda games have always allowed you to see something an NPC has; and kill them to take it! Now it’s like an illusion.

No, with the exception to combat, A-Life was severely downgraded from its original iteration. In SoC, what you get is “smart-zones” where the game tries to add some dynamic element to its NPSs, by making small pockets of emergent content. Outside of that, NPCs will at best act really dynamically at combat, react to you pointing their gun at them, and generic NPCs might walk around for a bit in one zone, but, they don’t have programmed schedules (my man Sidorovich is sitting there all day, selling overpriced shit), in SoC there are no reinforcements that they can request (feature added in the following game “Clear Sky”), there are no dynamic emissions in SoC (therefore, NPCs don’t hide from emissions, the only time that happens is during the scripted campaign events), and the NPCs that sit around the campfire and talk to each other are part of the “smart zone” system, they get deactivated once you exit the zone.

@@COHOFSohamSengupta Yes, but the system was not from a “15 year old game”, and you mentioned Shadow of Chernobyl. The A-Life system in Anomaly is the result of years of modifications made to the base game, plus modifications made to the fan game “Call of Chernobyl”, it more than half a decade to mature, change and be modified. And it’s still being expanded on by the Anomaly modpacks. I don’t think any developer would be able to develop a similar system, given the circumstances that the system was made, plus, it’s buggy as hell (because it’s so dynamic), and it not performant (Anomaly is not really multithreaded, the game limits itself to one worker thread I think, most systems have issues actually running the thing with stability)
The farther the games go, the more primitive they become, the rag doll is not made badly, but the blood from the wounds from the shots, the traces from the bullets, were not done properly, in general they cut it off and simplified it. It’s unclear who was afraid of dismemberment. bad guys
No one is talking about this on the reviews I've seen. Yes, gunplay is much improved, but combat is downright elementary. It's basically far cry 3. There's no rpg elements even less than fallout 4.
Everyone blames Todd but who you should be blaming is the lead designer and writer Emil Pagliarulo. Ever since he took over the role of lead Bethesda has steadily gotten worse with each game.

Some terrible downgrade Also, if I'm not mistaken, in Skyrim, if you show your weapon, the guards will comment on your weapons, unlike Starfield, based from your last video before that shows that they didn't give a damn
Skyrim is my favorite bethesda game because the world react you actions like if you use light armor, what kind of magic you are using, etc... I really want know what happened after skyrim bethesda games have not more moments like this
In starfield people reactions to your ship and your armor, and also some reaction to you in a positive way if you are doing good deeds in the galaxy. New game plus has some funny reactions to your strange gear too. Maybe you need to give a damn and play the game lol
Well, apparently there were engineering challenges in Starfield development, and core features like the map scale (planets, locations) or spaceships fights were obviously prioritized over other stuff..., I can imagine how the game developers were opening tickets constantly to the creation engine team and getting blocked due to unexpected errors, asking for assistance about new engine features, waiting for the next build of the engine to advance certain dev tasks, or even asking the engine team to include another feature in the roadmap. FO4 and Starfield are both in different stages of the engine experience refinement, but that's how innovation works, at least Starfield was the first product made with the Creation Engine 2 and not Elder Scrolls or Fallout xD, that would have been a huge accident for Bethesda reputation, not that such thing haven't happened multiple times at this point xD.

The combat/A.I in starfield is so bad. I'm not saying other Bethesda games were great but they weren't nearly as bad as Starfield. And all of the fast traveling and loading screens is a joke.
BGS did what Mass Effect Andromeda has the good sense to abandon. Not sure if anyone knows this but originally MEA was supposed to have procedural planets in Starfield numbers. They couldn't get it to work though how they wanted so they abandoned it. Of course bad writing is still bad writing so MEA still sucks.
My Fallout 4 has about 1000 mods and it's strange to see the original Fallout 4 cause certain mechanics that I'm used the game doesn't have. Now seeing that Starfield doesn't have mechanics that the original Fallout 4 has or they are worst that's strange, not to mention ridiculous.
Better introduction, better setting, memorable characters, superior physics, superior base building all on release. The only saving grace is the modding community 🙏
I think its safe to say now that fo4 was Bethesdas last decent game imo and this comparison and many others really show how little effort Bethesda put into their games now, its also really embarrassing that a game from 2015 is still way better then a game from 2023 do better Bethesda this is just sad and embarrassing

I find it really interesting how every next bethesda game is worse than previous. When f4 came out, I couldn't believe how could you make something subpar like this (special mention for f4 blurry visuals that made me rub my eyes, cause I genuinely thought it was something wrong with them) and then Bethesda came up with f76. Well.... this time we atleast have got npcs from the start, but I guess 2:25 proper fire visuals are technology of the forgotten ancient race and It doesn't exist in 21st century anymore.

the main complaint was that the maps were too small, skyrim/ fallout 4, so now u got likely generated planets, kinda the same when u land on a planet on mass effect 1 and only see a few locations. Overall I dont care about the generated planets, I just want to do the main story, plus side quests, and try different builds etc.. @@Skynet5885

I think a lot of what’s missing from starfield could have been left out on purpose bc they have said mod support would be there from the beginning an those things that are missing mods will do better than Bethesda did sanyways. Like in a year starfield will be amazing I’m sure, but still this is ridiculous honestly.
I also think it may have been because of series s performance because even missing these details on series s I still get regular frame drops and crashes still loving the game though

I'm sure they didn't do dismemberments and made npc death so simple because they know that the first thing the community will do when they deliver the creation kit is to quickly replace the characters' bodies with brand new ones.

You’re comparing a game that’s been updated and optimized for almost 10 years to a game that’s been out for a week. You have no clue the potential for updates and changes to come to starfield. The base game itself is phenomenal, ask anyone who’s played it. To everyone in the comments who hasn’t played, give it a chance. Don’t go in to starfield expecting fallout, just like you wouldn’t go in to fallout expecting elder scrolls. Completely different games.
