This series of videos are really great. I just picked up Starfinder and these videos have helped so so much. Thank you for all your hard work. Please don’t stop making them.
Can I say... this explanation video is so friggin good that it would be a mandatory study material if there was a Starfinder collage course in real life xD
They made hacking so annoying imo this is a turn off from creating a hacker. No knock against you tho I love these videos and and still gonna make my way through the rest!!
It's on the list, but may not be soon. I think the next few will be for people new to RPGs... how rounds work, the action economy, etc. But I'll try and tackle Starship Combat some day.
If this is done out of Combat does it still take however many rounds? Also what is a "round" outside of combat. There also seems to be alot of extra/unnecessary rolls involved in hacking that would seriously slow the game down
A Combat Round is 6 Seconds long normally. So 10 Rounds equals one minute. You can avoid slowing down the game too much by letting the hacker make their roles inbetween other player's actions. For example setting up a sort of Initiative Order for the current situation and just let everyone do what they do in order and the hacker can attempt their next roll whenever it's their turn. If you don't like rolling dice you can also just remove it alltogether and just make it consume a lot of in-game time during which the hacker can't do anything else?
I have another question (sry if my english its bad). If its possible hack a computer then conect that computer to a personal computer and use a hacked computer from far distances like games as Watchdogs
I haven't played Watchdogs, so it's hard to say... but I believe this would largely be up to the GM. There's no hard mechanic for leaving a "backdoor" on a computer you hack into, but I guess it's possible to hack a computer and then install a control module on your personal computer that would allow you to control the hacked computer from a distance. You would also need the Range Upgrade for the personal computer. The biggest problem would be how soon the owner of the hacked computer notices there is a remote device connected to it, and that would be up to the GM to decide. Also, I think the Engineer class has some abilities that allow them to hack from a distance (Technomancer might too), but my players haven't leveled up that far yet so I haven't had a chance to explore those classes.
I would add a layer between 'Access' and 'Root Access'. 'Secure Access' allows the user to access secure data and information, such as a Supervisor but still does not allow them to do anything to the system itself, such as add/remove user accounts, update/change software, etc.
In rules, when u try to hack a computer u can; do it physicall (usb?) or with infosphera. So a hacker could hack a computer in the other part of the world if this computer its connected to Infosphera?
Yes, if you have a computer connected to the Infosphere you can attempt to hack another computer that also has an active connection to the planet's Infosphere. Your computer acts as a user interface for the computer you want to hack.
