This is my completed model of the Puddle Jumper from StarGate Atlantis. It is one of my favorite ships ever. The 3D model is available for purchase at TurboSquid.com (link below) and soon at cgtrader.com www.turbosquid...
Thanks! It was the one part of the jumper the show never really detailed. I thought that sine the engines pop up and expand the drone launcher should be more than a slider.
I figured it had a rotary magazine that feeds up into the launcher system. Originally though, the launcher was on the same set of slides as the drive pods.
something which I think changed or maybe my memory is wrong I think where the drones were fired from changed at some point or maybe it was the angle where you saw it from or something any thoughts?
Wow!
One thing I've always wondered - there's no toilet on a Puddle Jump but there have been episodes where people have been stuck on one for like 15 hours lol
You'd pretty much have to go the "lazy shell over quadcopter" route with this thing. This thing has the aerodynamics of a brick. It's not like the F-302 where you can just run less dihedral and use a 3-axis gyro to stabilize. (and before anyone says anything, someone did actually make a proper fixed-wing EDF F-302, just without the absurd gobs of downward dihedral the official design has)
It really was a crime that they ended the show while it still had good ratings. Even more of a crime they didn't allow the sale of the show so they could continue producing. It was a plot to destroy a good franchise. One of the last "good" TV shows before it all turned to crap in the industry.
It is a shame its possible the studio went through financial problems it happened with Stargate Universe which was why it ended it didn't actually have anything to do with the show it self but something financial related happened at the studio which effected stargate universe so maybe something similar happened to Atlantis
Yeah, that was really messed up and very frustrating! (I believe the deal was actually just to lease the rights for SGA; there's no way they were going to sell it!) Although I don't believe it was a plot or some kind of conspiracy; and I've never heard of any evidence to support that assertion. It was just a very unfortunate series of events with even worse timing! There were many bad decisions made by SyFy execs (they have a long history of terrible decision making!), some poor choices at MGM, the global financial crisis, and the bankruptcy & restructuring of MGM. And who knows what else I've forgotten, mixed up or didn't hear about.
@@aydenjacko5810 You are absolutely right about SGU! The ratings are an excuse/cover story. They were actually comparable to many episodes of the two series. It's actually a misconception that "most fans" rejected SGU. The haters are & were always a minority, just a REALLY loud, vapid, angry, spiteful & persistent minority. And although they weren't actually responsible for the cancellation of SGU, what they did was hateful, selfish, irrational, counter-productive, immature and despicable! It's no wonder we haven't seen anymore SG series! Even a small number of determined, angry, whiney brats can really cause a lot of longterm damage. (It's ironic how basically all of their complaints that actually had any basis in reality centered around unlikable characters, immature soap-opera drama, and the overall "tone" shift; and yet their own responses were examples all of their complaints taken to another whole level! It really undermines & discredits their bullshit!) In any case, the truth behind the demise of both series is not really what most people believe or understand.
@@aydenjacko5810 Atlantis was cancelled to divert funds to Universe. SciFi was heavily subsidizing the production costs of the StarGate series as MGM didn't (And still doesn't) know how to run themselves. SciFi wasn't willing to pay for two concurrent SG series so, Atlantis got cancelled. It was supposed to get a movie (Like ark of truth and continuum) that dealt with some Ancient failsafe in Pegasus threatening some catastrophe if Atlantis is ever removed from the galaxy but that never came to be.
Season 1 Episode 12 - The Defiant One. At the end when the drone is fired from space to kill the Wraith on the surface you can see the drone door opens to fire the drone.
