He'd certainly be a worthy and honourable commander of the tauri fleet. In the series in one mission dis obeyed his commanders orders to get sg1 back think entire base personnel volunteered and stood in the gate room despite knowing they be court martialed if the plan backfired
He would have to join the Asgard supreme commander bootcamp. Tough training, finger up, finger down untill it almost falls off. But its all worth it in the end
The balls on Hammond during this sequence putting his ship between the enemy and SG-1 to buy them time was just ridiculous... never even hesitated. Don S. Davis was just incredible in the role and I am so sorry he is gone.
It seemed to be a repeating trend throughout the series that whenever SG-1 was in too deep, General Hammond was usually there to pull their asses out of the fire. "Yeehaw!"
The excitement I felt when you see humans going toe to toe with Goa'uld advance fleet will always stand as my favourite SG moment. We see the culmination of 7 seasons worth of development leading to them finally being able to defend the planet themselves.
@@troyjollimore4100 It was a human using human(however advanced) weapons that destroyed the goauld fleet. Plus if they had only a another year or so they could have fielded fleets of Prometheus along with who knows what other advancements.
@@nonaurbizniz7440 while i'd like to say y, there is a catch surely for small ship seen on the attack earth can face them and y they could build 100+ ship with every country now involved but when it come to mothership they still heavily lack in weaponry at this state and all the missile and bullet can't pierce those forcefield it's kind of: hyperdrive check, forcefield check, weapon .... meh still good old one (remember the missile that couldnt do *** against mothership in orbit even with nuclear charge? ^^) at the end they could defend against small fry but what gave them the win was the ancient weaponry, they still lack the energy weapon part
@@namonamo494 For a time. After a certain point their ships gain railgun weaponry that can actually do something against most enemies. By the end the only ships that could really pose any threat were between Replicators and Ori, since Replicators could pretty much utilize tech from whatever they "absorb" and the Ori were on par with the ancients in terms of technological advancement.
I’ll never get over how the writers/cgi folks make the ancient weapons so perfectly different from anything we had seen before. It could have easily just been a giant sky laser, but they had the idea to make shining, firefly-squid drones! It was beautifully alien, in the best way possible.
Giant sky laser doesnt work well if you want it to be believable, firing from the surface takes tremendous power for the beam to not be distorted by the atmosphere and it would take time to charge between shots which would hurt it against multiple targets. Also energy weapons in the show get blocked by the shields whereas the drones are little ships that dont get blocked by the shields, they are basically invulnerable mini missiles that do kinetic damage. So the benefit of the drones is that they can engage multiple targets or vulnerable points on a large target at once, they only require escape velocity to break into orbit but can be used in atmo as well, and they totally bypass shields due to not being bolts of energy.
It's an emotional payoff for 7 seasons of gate travel, making allies and acquiring technology to finally have a warship and fighters capable of defending the planet, and then to see them perform so admirably, such good storytelling...
@@ThatBrendonGuy Still would have been pretty cool to see some f16's or conventional fighters in the mix, but none the less, was worth the pay off. I would actually consider the f-302 one of the best fighters in the series, but they do have the draw back of limited ammunition.
True, it still take SG-1 recovering alien technology to finish the job, but seeing Earth finally holding their own against the Goa'uld in a direct battle instead of having to rely solely on -medical- surgical attack by SG teams is truly awesome moment.
Yep it was all or Nothing. SG1 was Rushing to save Earth and in Danger of Failing. SG1 was Heros but They only One Team. They Had Hammond and His Group To Support them and buy them Time For the Killing Blow.
Prometheus is the perfect name for that ship. The fire that Prometheus gave to humans was symbolic of technology enabling us to one threaten the Gods rule.
My headcanon is, that prometheus was a benefitial Gua Uld, an Ancient or somekind of other Alien being which helped humans or it was a metaphor for some Gua Uld or ancient Who Performe genetic Experimence on earth archaic Humans to make them more advance.
@@jackychang9148 Not all Goa'uld were innately evil. They just became more insane with prolonged use of the sarcophagus technology. Lord Yu, Osiris, Thoth, Nerus, other members of the Greco-Roman Pantheon, were perhaps noble in there purpose at first. Over time though they moved from wanting to uplift people to just be worshiped for the sake of being worshiped.
Which makes Daedalus all the more appropriate: Tau'ri vessel with all of it its advanced technologies baked into the design rather than retrofitted by aliens, the Daedalus represents the human capacity for genius (Daedalus was a mortal man who leaned how to fly, after all).
the initial clash of the fleets was the most awesome scene in the entire show. we were all cheering on the edge of seats as the camera zooms through crossways in all the chaos. amazing.
It was the culmination of like 6 fucking years and the humans of earth finally stood against the goauld in a head on fight and didn't get knocked down. This was the beginning of the end of the Goauld. And it was earned. Few if any series have ever developed a story to come to such a massive cathartic moment.
For me, it depends on scope. The most badass scene by an individual was the Prior in Beachhead sending everybody flying towards the horizon. The other one was the ending to season 9 in Camelot when the Ori ships invade and completely decimate our ships.
Multiple seasons lead to this point. Season 1 ended with earth utterly DEFENCELESS against anything from space. This OG end of Stargate ended with earth being ABLE to fight back with tremendos force themself. I would even go as far as say that kamikaze run of the prometheus would have at the very least rendered anubis ship to heavily damaged to do anything realy. Later on with the real end of Stargate , atlantis did the same when earth exhausted all stuff they had against one single hive. So now earth is not only able to defend itself but also would be able, given they now have the power and ressorces and all, to build at the very least acient aurora class warships if they so wanted, wich they dont. The BC304 already is supperior and we know they build a fleet of them.
@@christianresel8051 thank you for calling this the OG end of Stargate. It very much was IMO. I enjoyed season 8, too with Jack as General and Base Commander (the episode Zero Hour stands out), but I prefer to just pretend seasons 9&10 never happened, as well as pretty much anything beyond the first season of Atlantis. Neither the Wraith nor the Ori captured the same tone of nemesis as the Goa'uld or the Replicators. Anubis was the pinnacle of evil bad guy and watching him be obliterated, dying (we thought) screaming while the combined forces of Earth, the Tok'ra, and the Jaffa went into full scale battle was one of the greatest moments ever on television. We were cheering and shit, it was so awesome. Hammond just ready to literally drive Prometheus into Anubis's face (or lack thereof) is a testament to what a great man he was. I had the opportunity to meet Master Bra'tac in real life once and he was awesome. I always loved how much Bra'tac respected and admired Gen. Hammond. God I miss how much fun TV used to be.

@@greywoodsmanj see im the complete opppsite when it comes to atlantis i think all the seasons were amazing and was shattered when it was canceled. didnt care for the ori much though and reallyh didnt like sg universe although i tried very hard to like it
Can I point one of the most overlooked characters in Stargate and that is Walter Harriman also know as the bald guy with glasses who open and closes the Stargate up to this point all he has done is open and close the Stargate but here we see the man pilot the Prometheus into battle against Anbus Fleet
He wasnt the pilot. Pilot was I think to the left of hammod. The captain is middle, pilot and weapons officer either side. Walters was in a comms seat if I remember correctly.
@@Voriof1 No, but Silers actor was the stunt double for O'Neill, one of the reasons Siler gets hurt so often. You don't need to cut it so nobody notices the actor change, the actor can do it.
Tony Amendola does not get enough credit for portraying Bra'rac. That smile, as the drones erupted from the surface to take out Anubis' ship, was great. A real "My friends did it" kinda smile.
First Prime: "The human attack vessel approaches!" Anubis: "Destroy it!" First Prime: "It seems we cannot, it's captain's balls are too enormous! Our shields are of no use!" Anubis: "Noooooooo!!!!!!"
The scene is ridiculous. Anubis order to destroy Prometheus, he have a huge numbers of ships but only one shot. That change anything at the end, he will be destroy by drone but take Prometheus with him.
Yep and Everyone on StarGate command and there Team will Do Everything to make sure SG1 Return home. It Show How Much of a Family They was when everyone Rush into Danger without Hesitation to save SG1.
So much greatness in this clip. Of course the appearance of the Earth fleet, weird new alien weapon, Hammond being a badass leader. But also Henry Hayes standing his ground with balls of steel, and Master Bra'tac smiling to make it complete :D
Yeah. I remember when they announced that ben Browder's character was part of the Stargate universe in a pivotal way and they revealed he was the leader of the F-302 Squadron during the Battle over Anatarctica. I was like okay that's cool.
1:26 of every episode of stargate sg1, this moment, right here is forever engraved into my memory. the intial head on pass between earths X302s and the go'uld death gliders/bombers. it always brings a small tear to my eye. its so awesome. that and the first battle of atlantis, when they darken the city and it starts lighting up from the AA fire going out at the wraith, from stargate atlantis are forever engraved when i think of stargate.
Before those there was Star Wars Episode 6 the Return of the Jedi with the massive head on convergence of rebel fighters and imperial fighters. And as much as I love Star Wars I give props to Stargate for not just paying homage but taking it up a notch too.
I know exactly what you mean. Until then the SG teams had been sneaking around blowing up ships with bombs, stolen cargo ships and a lot of help from their allies. That was all great, but this moment was when the Tau'ri stood up and fought head to head against an imposing Goa'uld force all on their own, it always makes me think of how far they had come in such a short amount of time.
Well, sad to say it but 'The Siege' has been soured for me...manned railguns? Seriously? Even a small radar and a computer instead of a human operator (damned, we aren't in WW2! We have radar-guidance now and an Aegis-Combat-System that WWII ship captains would have given an arm and leg for!) would have made much more sense....not to mention that they only (badly!) fixed the defense satellite when the Wraith were already at the gates! Damned, they knew of it way way way earlier and might have truly been able to destroy all three first wave Hives!
Seeing Earth finally go toe to toe with the Goa'uld with capital ships and fighters was awesome to see. Shows you how far we came in only seven years and also how close we came to becoming a galactic superpower.
@@breakerm5187 I mean... depends on writers. I think Star Wars Andor's writers did a great job. But sadly, big companies like to make remakes and bet too much on 'old memories' rather than making something new.
it is tailored to cater to US patriotism. Generally series that do that tend to be successful, series that make the (usually American) protagonists look bad or weak tend to fail. See Enterprise(Archer)/Discovery and in contrast TOS Enterprise(Kirk) and Orville. do not take this as an insult, it is a mere observation. obviously producers would want to crate products that are successful, so they get written accordingly.
@@kensaiix its not the patriotism its the build up. 7 seasons of SG1 crawling by. Saving the planet by the skin of their teeth fighting a space fairing galactic empire with just conventional weapons. The desperate attempt to create our own weapons to fight and seeing them fail and struggle Then this scene... earth with its weapons 2 entire squadrons of 302s and Prometheus going head to head with Goa'uld. All the hard work of the characters paid off in this moment. After 7 seasons we were finally able to go toe to toe with the enemy
@@kensaiix I'm not American, and I am against patriotism. While what you said might be true for some, the context of this victorious battle within a series that has lasted for so many seasons at that point is the reason why it deserves a "fuck yeah", not internalized Propaganda. I do believe that there is a collective sense for all of humanity that makes this moment so exciting.
@@laurencebarnes5361 Patriotism is fine. It's loving your country, warts and all. It's Nationalism that's the problem. Russia being a prime example of this.
@@samfazers8818 The actor playing sgt. Siler was also the stunts coordinator of the series. As to Walter, his most bright performance was in the alternate reality, where he took the AR in futile attempt to repel the Teal'c-lead invasion into the Cheyenne complex, trying to give "our" Jackson some more time
@@samfazers8818 yes, it full of hints, easter eggs and secrets. Some are clearly visible, some are very subtle. For example, note the slogans in school (ep. where Vala & Mitchell arrived for classmates meeting) - these stickers says something like "Mallozzi for treasurer!" (or something very close) Or (already well-known) Latin tutorial book by Ph.D. Mallozzi ("window of opportunity")
Ronnie Cox. He played Capt. Jellico in TNG. A character you initially loved to hate. But when you rewatch the episodes he is in, the more you realize he was right. And yes he is a Great actor.
This is my favorite ship to ship battle in the franchise. 7 years, hundreds of planets explored, alliances made all culminates in this moment. As a fan you know how hard and perhaps what episode it was when they develop the ordinance for the 302s. Prometheus shields. We were there
I wish they had thrown in a line for Jack, something like "okay so you remember when I told you the shuttle was a formidable vessel? I... Might have been stretching the truth there. But hey! We've been busy since then, wouldn't you say this ones pretty formidable?"
Supreme Commander Hammond of the Earth fleet! May his memory never die ( Don S. Davis rip good sir)! Edit When Master Bra'tac said "they're not Goa'ld l, was like yeah boys cavalry's here!!! First time I saw this battle, it made me fall in love with Stargate all over again?
This episode and "Heroes" (S07E18) are my favorites. Such an amazing story arch. I wish we could see how Tauri are faring "today". They have the Asgard core, they have Atlantis, they have X-303's and -302's. We need big story-telling minds to imagine this world.
One of the things stargate did better than any other series was a smooth yet amazing increase in power of the humans. At this battle they are in desperation and needed Lantean weapon to save them, at the end of the series, Deadalus would have wiped the whole fleet before tea time.
I mean he did give the invading leader a big middle finger with what he said Also now I'm reminded of the other General of SG who told an Ori Prophet "if we're going to hell, we're taking you with us"
When I first saw this video, it gave me goosebumps, I have all of Stargate on DVD this is one of my favorite scenes along with the Stargate Atlantis scenes as USS Daedalus and USS Apollo with combined fleet took the Replicated Humans.
I always really liked how the president handles that conversation. Regardless of how much bluffing he did, that's the perfect way to handle that situation. It always gave me the impression that no matter how serious the threat of the Goa'uld and huge the galaxy is, Earth is still doing its own thing. Anubis was just an interruption for the president.
I was a kid when i first time have seen this episode and i was so fascinating and still after so many years this moment gives me a goose bumps, thank you SG1 and Atlantis for reminding me my childhood ❤️
"damn it O'Neal, ever hear of overkill?! Those drones don't grow on trees you know, you're going to be scrubbing floors until you've paid for every single one of them!"
Anubis wouldn't spare anyone, it was as a matter of fact another reality were defeated anubis, but they made public the info about the stargate. And everything went south
The look on Bra'tac's face. That of seeing the fruition of his life's work to free the Jafa. It was one of the most satisfying moments of the entire series for me.
3:00-3:01 in slow motion you can see missiles being fired from the port and starboard wings? idk what they would be called. i could be wrong but the missile launchers were located in the center mass launching "vertically" or aft horizontally. also if you follow the missile it appears to go through anubis shields
Fraking A. God do I miss the golden age of Scifi. One thing I find disappointing about the scene when Carter goes to look out the window, Teal'c and Daniel just stand there and are unphased. I guess especially Teal'c who was super impressed when the X-302. Wouldn't he want to see this ultimate badass clash of the F-302s in actual combat?
"Bow before your god." "I don't think so." This show was so unabashedly, unrepentantly American its like it came from a different universe compared to 2023.
