@@CommisarHood I feel like she would let him say the obvious, "a vast amount of personal experience with your kleptomaniac tendencies" before returning with a witty but self-aware and flimsy repartee. She usually saved the actual argumentative behavior for the middle of an adventure where she disagreed on what do to next. At the end when she'd stolen something it was Daniel who would cut her off all and refuse to deal with her bullshit.
Funny thing is for Vala, it really was love at first sight with Daniel. She changed and became the person she was by the end of the series largely due to him, and the whole time, he thought she was just playing games with him. In the continuing timeline, he never did realize she was serious, it was only in "Unending" that she let her guard down and showed him she was serious and they ended up together--and that got erased and only Teal'c remembered. And he never told them.
Well, he never realised she was serious on-screen - but it seems logical to assume that what happened in “Unending” would probably have happened in the new timeline, eventually.
I am like her now. Tough as nails & spunky sassy. I love her accent ! It was very different. Gala Valdoran. I love how she winked at the other cute guy. 😥 Sad 😢 I wish they had known or told them. Not fair.
I think the gov't cheated her. She literally lead them to a room full of treasure and priceless artifacts, but she is sent home with nothing for her effort. At least everyone working for Stargate Command receives a paycheck. Love ya Val!
It is interesting to see how wounded Vala is whenever Daniel tells her what he actually thinks of her. She is genuinelly trying to get her to like him, but she only knows how to tease people sexually, and Daniel isn't like that. It is like a Highschool RomCom.
I love how after all the stuff Daniel went through before never quite got under his skin like she does. The expressions he gives around her are Priceless!
I always loved the chemistry between Claudia Black and Ben Browder. Farscape just had me so entranced with these two and to see them on Stargate just awesome. Claudia is just amazing :)
I always liked Vala Mal Doran. Some here say she ruined SG-1, but I don’t think so-I’d say what sunk she show was the repetition. The show’s original villains were a race of aliens that posed as the gods of various cultures. These villains were more or less defeated and replaced by another bunch of villains that proclaimed themselves gods. I really think that we should have seen a post-Goa’uld period where we got to see the rise of new post-Goa’uld powers of different varieties...
@@aznthy stop calling people you don't know stupid things like "incel". Also SGU wasn't necessarily bad, it just took Stargate in a slightly different direction. Especially the first half of season 1 focused mostly on the characters and the drama between them. It wasn't actually bad, in fact it was needed to establish these characters what were completely unknown to us at that point, but the Stargate audience wasn't having it. The show got better though and I actually enjoyed the second season quite a bit, but by then it was already too late and the entire franchise had gotten the axe.
SG-1 was still a great show, and Vala spiced thing up by adding a fifth member who had that sense of humor and child like curiosity that Oneill had, just a bit more bubbly.
it's that toothy smile! Truth be told, given her long dark hair and the prominent 'schnozz' I thought she was a fine representative of the Greek community ALL Australians like to tell me about; It turns out not, but it seems in some Aussie soap operas she did play a Greek Character
Hilarious that after everything Daniel has been through with various women over the years. Vala is the only one that drives him mad with insanity and pleasure 🤣 😂
I have this hypothesis that at one point the Stargate producers ran a job ad along the lines of 'Attention actor -- has your long-running sci-fi series just wound up? Well have we got a franchise for you!'
Claudia has great comedic talent, well timed. Shes also very fit and suitable for actions. Re-watch her first scene in Farscape when beat up Crichton, Aeryn Sun was a real badass action character, and my youngest is partially named after her.
Lexa is so gorgeous as Dr. Lam, wished they gave her more screen time. They were trying to get her on the show for years since Shanks guest starred on her show Andromeda. They were really lucky to get her before she got another show to work on.
@@Hammerhead137 They had no choice. MGM was facing financial issues back then. More seasons, aswell as an O'Neill movie and an Atlantis movie was planned. The only reason Atlantis wasn't continued was because the budget wasn't enough for two concurrent shows anymore, so it was sacrificed for SGU. Then later Universe was also cancelled because of money problems (among other things). Despite all the cuts MGM could never recover, hence the acquisition by Amazon recently.
I always wondered if the underground scene where Daniel tells her the monster would be afraid of her was a "nod" to "Pitch Black" which Claudia Black was featured in.
Aeryn Sun is still Claudia's best role but Vala is still amazing. The on screen chemistry with Michael Shanks is as good as what she had with Ben Browder in Farscape, just in a different way.
What makes Claudia so great and iconic is that Aeryn and Vala are such completely different characters despite being played by the same person with very little difference in their appearance. Vala has some blonde streaks in her hair, otherwise there's really no attempt to make her look different to Aeryn, but the performances are so distinct that they never feel in any way like being similar. It's hard to say which character is the better of the two, because they are so vastly different. They're among my favorite characters in scifi.
I love that when they finally referenced FarScape in Stargate's episode 200, they had Daniel in the role of Crichton and Mitchell as Stark, because of course it's Vala making the reference so she puts Daniel as the lead/love interest for herself.
Her and Ben were such good additions. I though the show would loose some steam when RDA took a lesser role, but I feel like they helped keep the energy and fun going.
