SGU ended, it was a brilliant episode. I'm sorry to all stargate fans who didn't like universe. It was a show i really enjoyed. I wish they bring it back before it's too late.
For me, SG1 and Atlantis were seemingly upping the action etc, Whereas SGU seemed to be about people talking about their feelings into a floating orb. To me the was SGU should have been done is one of 2 (or more) ways, - Using our ships to visit gate addresses that were not able to be dialled (a bit too Star Trek perhaps), and starting to create a bigger picture of space politics (as well as visiting previous Worlds that seemed to pop up in a single episode... never to be seen again, like the crystal skull episode, or in the episode "Grace") - The story of the Ancients, Asgard etc (their history on a more deeper level), in general what happened before we meet them.
And now that SGU is dead, the Stargate franchise is effectively dead as well. Everyone was always complaining about SGU when it was on, and wanted it cancelled so Atlantis would come back. Unfortunately, it didn't work that way. I love all three Stargate series equally, but cancelling SGU was probably the worst decision possible for the franchise. When they did so, it effectively said that MGM couldn't afford SG any more. Mother f-ing SyFy is equally to blame as well, since it's more of a reality channel now.
MercuryRising1994 3 new movies are being made - that being said, they're in the universe of the original movie, so everything that happened in the series is discarded there.
They cancelled SGU and Caprica , but no news about SGA movie :-((( ...Anyway , I look forward for Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome. (Great job again...!!!)
that was the episode where destiny was playing tricks on colonel youngs mind...he kept dreaming that they were under attack and in every one of his dreams the ship explodes@Xonx68
@TheSpartansIRS Science fiction is an exostential metaphor that allows us to tell stories of the human condition. SGU had just as much explosions than SGA. Season 1 starts off with a planet being destroyed, and an entire space battle, so that statement was simply false. The reason why SGU failed, is because it had a Stargate label on it, it was a great series, and it woul've succeeded if it stood apart from the Stargate franchise.
Great video Jaap, like always. I heard the show is cancelled ? MGM, bring us back Atlantis !!! I was very disappointed by Universe. I only watched the 3 episodes in the last season. They tried to do like Battlestar Galactica but it didn't work. Too bad. We have to wait for the movies now...
It's a shame that "Stargate" after 17 years it finally comes to a end. But thats what the creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper get for turning everything we know about the series upside down. Replacing a sense of adventure, joy, and explosions for tedious, boring character development, and less explosions. With characters that are just any extras from the other great two series. Here's hoping a production crew comes 10 years from now with respect for the series and revives it!
i agree the reason whay season one sucked compared to 2 was becauce they have to lay foundation for the show make you learn about the ship the mission and all that the best episode i liked in sgu was the one were they found a planet that had there decendants on
@ThePikoYT Please don't call me an idiot, then second, i only saw SG1 and Atlantis. Destiny wasn't even on teh tv around here, so unless i scrounge the whole internet for episodes, i pretty much can't watch all of them. But it's good to know it isn't destroyed.
ive still got about 8 or 9 episodes left here in new zealand but i agree with TheSpartanIRS and pardusian141 SGU should never have finished and season two really statred going towards where us fans wanted it to. damn you syfy and mgm, why not think about international fans for once, i even know for a fact of 100 people who liked SGA aswell
@01000001011100100111 F.Y.I I was speaking for myself! And if you want great character drama over explosions in a Sci Fi show then watch "Farscape" or "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"! They might be a little old but that doesn't mean they suck. Both of those shows had the perfect balance of adventure, joy, explosions, and great character development. Something "Stargate Universe" didn't have! Even the last 10 episode couldn't reach the level that those shows did.
