My best friend who was a massive ME fan, passed away just before the legendary version came out, he was looking so forward to it. He would have freaked out just how good the game looks, it's such a shame he will never get to see it. His name was Dillion or Dill to his friends, he was a fantastic guy who loves and got on with everyone as long as you didn't talk about Lord of The Rings he had such a thing about that book. I just thought I would share a little bit of him to keep him in the minds of people so he's never truly forgotten..
I don't see where it specifies that, all he said was "all fighters on me" he could very easily be talking to one squadron. Does no-one think of these things or do they want to spend the entire game watching explanations for why someone scratches their balls and not ten seconds earlier.
You can customize Shepard any way you want, theres buffs in the pieces of armor that you wear. I really don't like this helmet she is wearing, no matter what buff is given.
That's what i thought when i first saw that scene back in 2012. But to be fair, they at least address the lore with that long range opening salvo. Who cares though, this is space opera not hard sci-fi. The series is filled with handwavium.
@@haddythegamer I seem to remember reading something about that being a deliberate and conscious choice by the devs: what we see on-screen is just eye candy for the audience, the codex is how it canonically happens.
you know, they could've used this remastered to touch up some things, like showing both Quarian and Geth fleets during the approach to Earth or showing more of the fighting on the ground
If I remember right, most of the the pre-rendered sequences in ME3 were produced out of house by a film VFX studio (I _think_ it was The Mill in the UK). It will have cost Bioware a fortune to get them made in the first place and is unlikely to be something they have any power to tweak at this point. Not without parting with another shedload of money anyway. I'm sure they could have done other embellishing work, but it doesn't sound like the remaster team spent much of any time on ME3. All the effort and money seems to have been spent bringing ME1 up to spec.
Admiral: "OK Shepard, you know the Reapers better than anyone. What's the plan?" Shepard: "Everyone group up, in really tight formation, then shoot them until they die!" Admiral: "Uh... you do know space has, like, three directions, right Commander? And no friction? Maybe we could try long-range multi-vector bom-" (Shepard passes renegade check) Shepard: "THIS IS MY SPACE BATTLE AND WE WILL FIGHT IT MY WAY NOW SHUT UP AND MAKE WITH THE PEW PEW YOU NERD!!" Garrus: "Uh, sorry about that. Shep's not been the same since Cerberus Frankensteined her back together. Need some help with the calibrations?"
It wouldn't have mattered anyway. Reaper fleet outnumbered, outgunned and outranged them. Their only hope was to break through enemy blockade land troops on Earth or citadel and hope that their wonder weapon Crucible worked.
Honestly annoying but he climatic showpieces look at the wow pictures !!! Could be worse.....Battle of Winterfel...Catapults infront of their army and their entire army outside the castle :D
If they made this into a show with a giant budget, the right people behind it, and stuck close to the games… guaranteed it would be a world wide hit and an all time best. I just want as many people to fall in love with this universe like I have!
That was really amazing, seeing it for the first time. No wonder the Protheans didn't make it. They were literally like "Everyone for themselves!" and were surprised it didn't work out
There are only 2 things I wish this game did differently in the ending. I wish there was an option to get the Salarian Fleet so we could finally see what their ships are like, and I wish the Destiny Ascension actually used that "huge weapon" it reportedly has.
You can get the Salarian fleet, it just requires sabotaging the Genophage cure (only worth it if Wreav leads imo cause he's actually fooled and and he's a piece of shit)
@@WoLFiLoLoL973 yeah but thats the point. People saying their choices don't matter yet as soon as their choice makes an impact they moan that they can't get everything they want
You can also acquire a Salarian fleet element, even if you didn't sabotage the genophage cure, if you saved the Council in ME1, and save the Salarian councillor from Kai Leng during Cerberus' attack on the Citadel. Otherwise, the best you get from them is Major Kirahee, provided he survived Virmire, and some STG elements on your side.
I was 17 years old when I combined the forces of the galaxy for one final stand against the scourge of all known sentient life.. This cut scene made me cry straight up when I first saw it. For 2007 the graphics were unreal and it was just such a powerful moment in my life. I hope our future generations see the stars, and persevere through whatever the universe throws at us. God bless humanity.
If we cant leave in the near future.. it will be harder and harder to see the stars sadly. Light Pollution rises every year around 10~%. Here in my area.. you barely can see anything sadly.
The Most insane thing about The 2nd Battle of Earth was it was a suicide mission all around; literally, no one had a chance of coming back... It was the push-forward tactic, and Everyone from the Navy to the Marines knew it. So to see the fleets come out of the relay and just reign down fire was beautiful and poetic, showing no matter how bad shit had gotten, everyone knew what they were fighting for
I still remember back then when I first played this. I went through all the galactic drama & lost some of my dearest friends to assemble the ultimate fleet. Every chapter of the final mission felt like Stalingrad, only difference is that if we fail this, we can't just retreat across Volga. If we fail, everything we've ever loved will perish. When people bid farewell, most of them say "good luck" because we don't even know the odds of us winning. The emotional weight of this game is so immense.
I am 51 years old and I have played many games since the days of ping pong, space Invaders and defenders and on through the years, Atari, Genesis, Nintendo series up to Xbox PlayStation, but in all of my years of play even through my military years this is one of the greatest stories that has ever been told in my gaming history. It is like living another life of action and excitement and once you are immersed there is no getting away. If you haven't played this game and you want a good storyline to me this is one of the greatest stories ever told. Eat your heart out Star wars. N7 forever.
There are no words to describe how I felt watching this, hundreds of hours put into the trilogy starting with ME1 and going through each game getting as many allies as I could and completing every single mission and it all came out in this single glorious moment
I kinda feel like the LE should've included more space scenes and show more allies helping out on the ground. Plus the full cut conversation with Anderson at the end. Bit of a missed opportunity imo.
@II Arbiter II Is that the one where he talks about not having children of his own? They removed that because it doesn't fit with the lore at all because it's mentioned that he has a child with his Ex-wife
2:07 Turrian: wait who said that? Asari: was that a human? Human: wait who the hell has seniority right now? Geth: this unit believes seniority should go to the humans. Asari: I’ve been a pilot for 420 years so where do I stand in the command structure? Quarian: wait do we even have fighter craft? Salarian: a thought occurs to me, this fleet is made up of every allied species so why are there seemingly only human fighter craft present? Turrian: WHAT IS GOING ON!? Human: wait are we really having to follow a single fighter out of the thousands we have here? That seems...inefficient. Geth: this unit believes this attack was poorly planned... Krogan: Ha! That means we’ll have more fun!
Wonder why they didn't try to mass produce the Thanix cannons for if nkt all most of their ships. I know experimental but the Normandy had them and proven that they do work. Imagine the Turian dreadnoughts with such firepower. Also kinda sad that they made this whole leviathan dlc and they have basically no role in the final battle. They don't even make an appearance on the ground of them taking over reaper forces even briefly to help Shephard.
You do remember the gameplay where we had to strip several planets of resources to build that right? While it might not be the exact amount I am pretty sure they are resource heavy weapons, hard to gather them during a galactic genocide survival war...
@@QuarianGuy most if not all of those resources went to the crucible. Also most of the species leaders knew of the repear threat specially after the ME2 dlc arrival. The Alliance (under Anderson) had been secretly preparing. Hell they even helped keep the Andromeda initiative a secret. With all the mining outposts they had and the schematics for the Thanix im surprised not one species decided to mass produce the cannon. I mean hell not even the Volus and they know how to get shit if they want it.
@@johanneshjortshj8646 its a weapon that fires molten metal at high speeds and temps just like the reapers weapon. In fact I think it was based off it. Given the time frame between ME2 and the events of ME3 and the successful trial of it on the Normandy (cause it was experimental at the time) id say no reason to mass produce it even if it wasn't safe. It was better than the guns they currently had. Honestly the only real reason I can think of is the power output it requires. The Normandy had a much more advanced core. Thats why I say put it on dreadnoughts. They have a core that generates similar quantities of energy as the Normandys core does. Even if you just fit two on there it would have been a huge advantage in the battle for palaven and earth. Hell the Asari who were the most advanced could have probably mass produced and fielded the weapon in large quantities. All I'm saying is that it seems like the upgrades that the Normandy got in ME2 that helped them against the collectors who had technology almost on par to the reapers went unnoticed or disregarded by the other species. Even the ones who believed the reapers were real and "prepared".
5:05 I honestly feel so bad for that one marine ready to drop and instantly gets hit as the door opens and he isn't ready. It even shows how horrifying and how deadly brutal the combat must have been for the resistance this whole entire time that Shepard was trying to bring help for Earth. Probably feels just as gruesome as the beach landings in Saving Private Ryan. Only, the bad guys shooting are devastating mutated laser aliens with the objective of annihilating all sentient species.
@Kc Ryan Nah he's right. If you save both fleets, only the Quarians show up in the cutscene and only appear on Earth at the FOB. Had to use a mod in the OT to have both show.
@@alexanderthompson7164 guess I overlooked that little detail. Oh well, file it under the thousands of other things that don’t make sense in the final hour of ME3 😂
Mass effect ships have target locking computers id like to think the shots that go pass the reapers in the cutscene actually hit the targets behind them we just didnt see it or it hit reaper ground forces.
@@Wave_Boi this^^ I think the is one for Homeworld, Star ward empire at war and sins of a solar empire (a certain DLC I can't recall). Make sure before buying, my memory is crap these days
There are several games with ME-mods. A good start is "Stellaris" as it pretty much allows replaying the entire thing (either via Scourge or AI rebellion) and there's a Mass Effect mod that gives you several ships. You even can found your own Council, if you like.
Same way I feel. The star child ruined it for me. Not to mention his "I made robots to kill you every 10,000 years so you wont make robots to kill you every 10,000 years!" logic was laughable. Still love the trilogy, just the last 15-20 minutes was pretty stupid.
ME3 is my favorite of the three games until just after Anderson's death. Still can't believe with all the great theories they could have gone with, they chose 'mystical child AI'
@em m I totally disagree Mass Effect 3 was a mess from the moment we left Hacket and Anderson intro. Mars Palavan Rannoch Citadel Cerberus Base Earth All felt far below sub par. The ending was just another part of a badly thought out badly executed game.
Well if you rock with the indoctrination theory (excellent video they made for that btw) which was before BioWare made some edits to the endings and some additional cutscsnes. I still prefer the indoctrinate theory honestly
@@pookiipower435 Like many people i thought them having to reap civilizations to make new reapers made more sense. Since the story seemed to point to resources becoming scarce.
@@shadowglass14 Depends on the ending you choose (you have to choose destroy so Shepard gets the chance to survive) and your war assets have to be high enough, otherwise they die no matter what
The Mass transit thru the Relay was the single most beautiful scene in the trilogy. Shepard's half assed commands at the onset of the battle make me cringe so hard though. Writing REALLY took a dip there.
They didn't. The goal was only to distract it at all cost while another small team was preparing heavy shots. And there was only few rockets left so distraction was very important.
To strain the mass effect shields as much as possible. It's under the same principle as the A-10's gun being able to penetrate modern armor. 1 30mm cannon round ain't going to do anything but dent modern armor. 1000 30mm rounds impacting less than a second apart in roughly the same area will
Their goal was to distract the reaper but even if that's not the case it's a better choice to die fighting when the alternate is to just lay down and die.
If I'm going to die to a giant space crab I'm going to try to damage it as much as possible even if it amounts to me scratching the paint off a really hard to reach spot for it
If you knew this thing is going to kill you, your familly, friends and everything that lives with no mercy you'd fight it with a stick. There's no other way around.
Would be badass to see like a clone wars moment u know Shepard standing on some destroyed rubble. Duel Wielding Blaster Pistols And transitioning into a N7 Blaster Rifle
it's amazing how little I remember of the leadup to this battle- I have been watching a youtuber playing ME1 and remember even some minor engagements readily- but the ending to ME3? utterly underwelming.
I played mass effect for the first time through the legendary edition and I got to say as cool as it is to get the whole galaxy together I just wish I could’ve seen the actually effects. Like those living tank Elcors on the ground shelling the enemy or asari snipers providing support on the ground, or the cloud bombardment fleet and Cerberus fighters play out in space. I especially felt let down that all the shit I did to get troops for the ground like all those mercs from omega never showed up. Though in hindsight I guess it is a bit to ask for especially now
The fighters used by the alliance pilots are reverse engineered Cerburus fighters if I remember correctly. (not as powerful manouverability wise, smaller cores and fewer thruster but also less expensive)
i saw salt factory's video on me1 and clicked off the first 5 mins to buy the game myself. I had no what i was missing for so long. the first and second games were pretty good but it was the 3rd one that really drove everything home. Felt like i just finished playing halo 3 for the first time.
Honestly, thank you for uploading this. This just honestly makes me cry good tears. To see such an amazing game get remastered, and have the best ending, It makes my heart warm. Grew up with the series, and honestly wouldn't change a damn thing. Keep uploading things like this!
@@mfenix88 but then it wouldn’t make a ton of sense for me. Last we saw that teaser, it showed us that N7 piece from the armour, plus they confirmed that the “Destroy” ending is canon, and why bother teasing us at the end of the game where shepherd is supposedly alive under a bit of debris? (it happens in absolute perfect ending when the name plac isn’t put up on the memorial wall
@@splatoonistproductions5345 I agree mate. The theory only stems from the fact Liara possibly shows signs of aging but others have dismissed as simply being a high quality 4k CGI cinematic trailer rather than in game. I do agree with you. I hope they released the LE so we could import our save from the first 3 games. Would explain why they made it more difficult in the LE to achieve the ending where Shepard lives
I still laugh at the Stargazer and child at the end... The child is totally the same adult asset they just shrunk it down and figured it was good enough...
For me, you can take every great film, the epics... and it cannot match this moment, you've fought, battled, decided, and you get to here. Your heart is in your mouth, and you think... Oh God, what am I in for? This is a masterpiece and the battle... my God, intense doesn't cover it. The high watermark of gaming, when it transcends everything and you realise... this is better than anything you have ever experienced... and you are scared out of your wits but you FIGHT on. I've played through Mass Effect six times, it never, ever gets old. Legendary Edition is perfect... because it is... a legend. Oh, and Mass Effect 2 - the greatest computer game of all time, it will never be beaten.
That “Reaper” is the oldest, largest and most powerful Reaper in the armada. Do you really think a single Thanix cannon can take that thing out? If anything it should be Harbinger who should have destroyed the Normandy, I guess plot armor is just too powerful
@@mingQWERTY Thanix cannons could cut through kinetic barriers, shields and armor like it wasnt there. It's the reason Turians scrambled to recover what was left of Sovereign after it exploded and cover the salvage operation as clean up to resume citadel operations.
@@captain0080 thanix cannons are reverse engineered Reaper MAs, they aren't one hit wonders to reaper capitals and they dont just go through KBs either, Mass Torpedoes do. The Projectiles that comes out of thanix, is a liquid metal suspended in a ME field. Also the entire alliance fleet was actually retrofitted with thanix cannons which allowed cruisers and Normandy SR2 class heavy frigates to one shot Reaper destroyers.
@@Duke_of_Petchington acoding to the codex entry they go though any known shield or armor, and it definitely can destroy a reaper with a well placed shot, just like the original Normandy managed to make Sovereign explode with its frigate class weapons once its shields were brought down.
@@captain0080 the Normandy sr1 used a mass torpedo on sovereign I believe. Reaper Capital Ships (Battleships/Dreadnoughts) can’t be one shot. But cruisers (with or without thanix) can one (well placed) shot reaper destroyers. Normandy SR2 Thanix didn’t even one shot the collector cruiser.
Been playing Mass Effect since the very 1rst. My total attack strength at the end on ME3 was 120%. With no dlc. When I ordered attack &(this only happens when you're past 100%) 3 Reaper's were totally distroyed on first strike. When you play this game again. It is truly a sight
When you think about it, even if you fail to beat the reapers, in the end Shephard and everyone else probably does enough damage and kills enough reapers to more than likely give the next generation of the Milky way a chance at beating them, assuming you choose to just leave it to the next generation to choose instead of just destroying them anyway.
Huh, I just realized something this far down the line. Though this is by far my favorite cutscene in the entire trilogy, if the allied fleet is coming at the reapers at that angle, where the Earth is somewhat BEHIND the reapers.... then every mass accelerator shot of the entire allied fleet that MISSES ..... sends projectiles with the kinetic energy of about 38 kilotons of TNT raining down on the earth........ you got to assume that there is going to be a hell of a lot of "two and a half times the destructive power of the fission bombs that destroyed Hiroshima" taking place down there; we're talking nuclear barrage from the very fleet sent to save them. o.O
Rn i am writing a fanfic It will be Alliance Fleet reporting. Turian Fleets reporting. Asari Fleets reporting. Quarian Fleets reporting. Geth Fleets reporting. UGF ( Context: UNSC and ex Convenant races) Fleets reporting. Federal Starfleet Fleets reporting. UNCF Ships reporting.
This is honestly my favorite scene in the entire game series, u spend the whole game trying to make everyone get along and once u finally manage to get everyone to cone together its a behemoth of an attack that completely throws off the repears its like something straight out of a 80s movie
My only dislike with RED ENDING, is that options KILLS ALL SYNTHETICS, which includes the Geth Fleet, and EDI. I prefer Synthesis GREEN Ending, which saves EVERYONE. I would rather sacrifice myself to save everyone. I can’t deprive Joker from EDI. Which is why I prefer Synthesis GREEN.
EMS was below "best ending" but still good enough to ensure someone survived. The lowest destruction ending also has a dead Earth and the other species lost a huge chunk of their population as well. So even if they survived, they got forced back to pre-FTL era. In this ending, the damage done isn't irreparable (except for the synthetics) and Shepard didn't survive.
This made me cry. Such a beautiful story & ending. I really like the the ending part, too, with the child asking questions. The universe in this game is so much more wholesome with different alien species helping each other out, instead of that of "Warhammer 40,000" where every race are racist fanatics & trying to wipe each other out (with the exception of the Tau). Also, cute alien fish baby!
Everyone enjoys space battles (myself included), but I sometimes think it's silly to suggest that, sentient beings with this level of technology would fight a battle this way.
