New Gen 3 Ridgeline Mount Review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TKr1bAJV-VI.html

For those asking about wind, this thing is, very heavy once loaded. Additionally, the bottom is rubberized and the way it saddles the roof, does not catch the wind. It is not going to move unless your roof is being lifted off, and then you got bigger problems. Additionally, your dish will snap off before this gives way(remember, dishy is plastic and very light) and the dish's profile is not much of a wind-catch with how it positions and operates.

I live in Florida where summer temperatures on a fiberglass shingle roof can likely exceed a 100 degrees. I’m wondering if the weights could damage the roof shingles over time in this heat? I like the concept of this roof mount.
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware Год назад
Potentially. There is about 70 lbs or so total pressing down on the roof. There are rubber channels that protect the roof, there is no metal to roof contact. But anything super pliable and susceptible to dents or melting may be deformed over time.

This was excellent but please explain or do another video on how you get the cable up through the ridge, and how you know where to place it. I assume you drill a hole but I also assume the hole must be sealed. Sure you can use a tape measure but I'd like to see it done. Also where is it best to put the router to avoid having to run the cable down the stairs or through walls.

What kind of wind rating is there. How the hell is this going to stay on the roof?
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware Год назад
Starlink doesn't provide a wind rating for this mount, but they've previously said the dish itself can handle up to 75 mph winds. This Ridgeline mount is held down by more than 50 lbs of weight, not including the weight of the dish and mount.
@KCJK-K3N
@KCJK-K3N Год назад
I have the same concern about wind rating and could not find any information about wind ratings for the ridge line kit. I just signed up for residential service with the RV dish. I live in MI and it does get windy during the fall-winter season, however, never 75mph winds. Very helpful, thank you!!
@silveraven1
@silveraven1 Год назад
They don’t provide a rating then “but they said?” Hmmm, I don’t know. Kinda worrisome. I get 60mph like a dozen time a year. Isn’t there anyone who has actually tested this with a video?
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware Год назад
@@silveraven1 It's not a big deal. Been through plenty of strong gusts and it doesn't move an inch. The truth is, the dish isn't that big of a wind catch in its normal operating position. And there is 60+ lbs holding it all down. The mount itself doesn't catch any wind. If wind is a concern, find another mount that permanently attaches. I don't know how anyone would test this with a video. All I can say is that mine has been installed since making this video, and it's been fine through all the spring storms so far!

I purchased a wineguard 3000 mast post and attached to the north facing wall it cleared the 12" overhang with no problem. We used an old support arm from an old Direct TV antenna and it's really solid. The dish actually slid down far enough in the mast that i am hesitating on getting an adapter. It's really lodged in there and the cable run down through the mast so there's no tension on the cable. My location is GREAT with no obstructions according to starlink. we have amazing speeds. @@will_ren

@thortonbarefoot2990
@thortonbarefoot2990 Год назад
I live north of Tulsa and that storm was wild! I'm going to purchase this mount and give it a go. I believe this mount would be fine in our occasional 60 mph gusts. We also might go a very long time without another 100 mph freak storm, so I'm rolling the dice. Besides, that's hurricane force winds and it's asking a lot for anything to be rated to withstand that. Even a hard mount.
@acatismansbestfriend5719
@acatismansbestfriend5719 Год назад
I live about 30 miles south of the Texas /OK border on IH35 and we are in a rural area and get those gusts even without a storm. A storm just ramps them up so I was wondering if this was going to be a viable option for us since our 2 story roof is at a pretty good, steep pitch where we are probably charged extra by roofers every few years when they have to replace our hail damaged roof. 😂

What prevents the screw/center from loosing over time and then the dish tipping over? Does the screw lock or is it just hand tight?
@StarlinkHardware
@StarlinkHardware Год назад
It doesn't lock, you just tighten it down. It would be a good idea to check it every now and again, but in my opinion, the design won't allow it to just fall over. The main shaft is "geared" so that, even loosened, it can't rotate without physically trying to pull the pieces outward. So even loosened, it wouldn't move without someone messing with the legs.
