Even though it's been a long year of waiting, glad that I'm closing in on getting this awesome thing myself. It really is such a big deal for people living too far away from legitimate options. Can't blame you for not wanting to spend thousands to get cable to your house. Glad it's been doing good things for you!
The only ISP in our area willing to bring any service to our house (happens to be Fiber) was asking for $685,000 to run the service. Decided to go with Starlink Premium. Waiting for it to arrive!
Thanks for making this video and glad you got the new dish as I've heard it's a nice improvement. Hope this makes your RU-vid uploads far more convenient.
This is incredible! I wish I knew about this sooner, I've been stuck with DSL that tops out at 1.5Mbps download for the last 6.5 years...no wonder Starlink is already at capacity in my area...at least I can see the stars at night though, I guess that's gonna have to be a good enough consolation
Nice to see you step into the 21st century in style, Pete! I look forward to more content, now that you can upload so much faster. 🤣I am glad you and the fam can get some decent coverage now. Stay well down there, brother.
Awesome I have been messing with mine on multi routing with other services and I am very impressed with its performance, I am surrounded by large buildings and still gettng great connectivty, I am lucky enough to combine it with a 5g back up for 100% uptime
Wow, congratulations! I love your 1994 cable comment. I'm worried about punching holes in a rental home and it appears the cable fitting that comes with the system requires a large hole... is that true? I hoped they had a conversion to a regular cable box fitting so I could use existing installed hardware and then install the modem inside the home usong existing cable inside??? Do you know of any way to do that? Cheers, Eric
I dearly miss living out in the sticks, but I don't miss the Internet speeds. I am sitting 750/750 on fiber. Hopefully, the "magic space wifi" has made your life much easier. Can't imagine uploading at 1 Mbps these days. Does this mean more content? 😈
$6,000 is a bargain. Specturm wanted $110,000 to bring it to my house!! My SL order just got confirmed and should be shipping in the next 2-weeks. I can't wait to be off my sneaky cell phone router solution that I've been using the last 2 years.
Wow, I had no idea my favorite internet channel was so internet deficient. I'm now impressed how you've managed all your great content with such slow speeds. Congrats on the upgrade and I too employ little hands in my house hold for jobs like that.
I pre-ordered, live in a remote area where we currently get microwave internet, however it's never been much over 20-25MPs on a good day. I am curious as to how well the actual wifi router works since I am on two acres and to get wifi in my shop and not just the house I have an AP router wired to my main router. We are talking quite a distance with concrete and steel between. I am guessing I will need the ethernet adapter and have to keep my current router setup.
Yep, when you get the notice that you are now able to order the setup, order the ethernet adapter at the same time, and anything else you think you may need such as roof mount, longer cable, etc. The wifi on the Starlink router is acceptable for a small area, but no better than any typical small wifi router. So you will definitely need the ethernet adapter to connect a better wifi system. For long runs, I've had a lot of success with the Netgear Orbi Mesh systems, as the "remote/satellite" stations can be placed a decent distance from the base unit.
The upload speed of Starlink is really disappointing me. It's such a futuristic project and then the upload speed is slower than my 1980's copper line (VDSL). I have 4 Nest cams uploading into the cloud 24/7, my current 15Mb/s is full with that... I hope they hurry up with the glassfiber lines in my area 🙂
Great video! Kind of random but I’m hoping to get Starlink but I heard that I can’t view security cameras outside of the network. Do you know if this is true?
I actually had almost no obstructions down low. Upon moving it to the roof, there were zero. However, it still delivered good service with said obstructions...There is an app you can use to determine whether a location is good or not. Just look for the Starlink app...it is super easy to use!
I am so deeply sorry!! I will be sure to consult you before I perform any other activities on my property. I am so glad you took the time to comment. Cheers!
