Just put in our deposit! We live in rural Wyoming and we have no internet options other than satellite that goes up to 512kbps! Can’t wait for Starlink!!!
Same, I live in Arizona not even that far from a city with cable internet up to 300mpbs but refuse to bring service out our area so our best option is $100/month for 10mbps
youre exactly what is wrong with the world today a total misinformation campaign launched by people who are just uneducated and clearly dont understand the risk of putting 40k satelittes in earths low orbit, also that if elon succeeds ch9onoa russia and others are going to launch even more into our low orbit creating massive amounts of problems possisbly even the kessler syndrome. know your shit b4 u speak son
I can understand, because I feel as though that ISP cares more about their bank accounts than customer satisfaction, at least based on what I've previously read from various sources.
not trying to be mean, but i hope they dont allow people in citites to get the service just because you dont like comcast. Us rural people have been waiting years for a decent internet service and i dont want it slowed down bad because people dont like att or comcast. Ive been at 4mbit service(mobile hotspot)for years with a family of 3, we cant all use internet at same time and can barely watch netflix, still buffers. And with covid my wife and daughter working/schooling from home has been very tough.
Exactly what I said when i heard him say this, this is the first video of his that I have watched and that sentence made me more interested in his channel.
This will indeed be a game changer. Imagine for the first time ever, worldwide high-speed internet access for the whole human population 🤯I almost ordered one to support the mission, but really don't have a need in a gigabit fiber city 😅
I ordered one too just to test it out but the speeds I get in the city are pretty similar so I’ll probably cancel mine. But this is definitely a game changer for half of the US population!
@@kasibert2229 Unfortunately it's not portable yet. From Starlink FAQ: "Your Starlink is assigned to a single cell. If you move your Starlink outside of its assigned cell, a satellite will not be scheduled to serve your Starlink and you will not receive internet."
When I saw the speed test my jaw dropped. My current internet is so slow (even with me living in a suburb of a decent size city) so I will definitely check this out!
@@Wirmish Even for a beta, this is very impressive considering a satellite is much farther away than a nearby tower, for example. It's very promising for future speeds and improvements.
I don’t think Starlink will integrate with solar roof. Because your solar roof is mounted parallel on your roof. Starlink satellite need an angel to receive signals.
@@thienminhtoan does it? Watch some vids on it, as long as the pole is perpendicular to the ground the antennae adjusts to where the satellites are in the sky. Pretty easy maneuvering if you ask me...they are rocket scientists figuring this out...but what do I know, I am definitely not one myself
More like a money pit for the first few years, as it's WAY more expensive to send those sats to the sky then what they will be getting with the subscriptions in the meantime. But it will be profitable. When it reaches that point, it will IPO.
Holy cow, it automatically adjusts to the correct angle? THAT is very interesting. I'll be looking into this. Is there a minimum amount of time you have to sub for? Thanks!
There is no contract you can cancel subscription at any time. From what I've read and understood. Correct me if Im wrong. I just signed up today and don't want to be under contract anymore.
I put in a request awhile back to be notified when Starlink was available here in rural Texas. Starlink notified me about a month ago they were available for pre-order at my location with shipping sometime in the first half of 2021. I immediately ordered mine and I can't wait to upgrade my 8Mbps $79/mnth link. Thanks for the great review.
@@ctb2814 Starlink is $499 for the hardware and $99 per month for the service. I am paying $79 per month currently for my 8Mbps connection from the phone company (my only option currently). Sorry for the confusion.
Elon Musk has built his “empire” with billions in U.S. government-that is, taxpayer-subsidies. We all hope he will not get it, as Musk’s science-fiction dreams are fast becoming our nightmare reality.
I have had very similar internet as your friend. I signed up for starlink about a year ago. We recieved it this week. Im psyched, i will follow up with how it works.
There is no doubt that starlink is a game changer, I am located in Panama Central America and I am waiting for the service, I am already on the waiting list.
Definitely an option for rural customers. If this had been available when I was home shopping, it would have opened up some homes I chose not to look at due to no broadband availability.
Great review Andy. One of my friends bought a house in a rural area with very crappy internet speeds. He is going to try out the Starlink soon. This is life changing for some folks!
@@aslye I went to visit my friend and I would kill myself if I stayed there for too long 🤣 the internet was just super slowwwww...I told him about the Starlink program and I think he already placed an order. Super excited for this to become available everywhere. I am from Nepal and we could really use some high speed internet back home.

@@dned23 you should pay more attention to Tesla’s profits and how they have been being made the last few years.. they are one of the most successful car companies today, not to be rude but have you been living under a rock without internet service? Then you should subscribe to star link! 😂 But seriously. They were starting up in the initial years, what do you expect, again now it is widely known that they are the most successful automaker to this date since the model 3
Yeah, me too. Verizon's solution to give me the gigs I need was to sell me three hot spots with three "unlimited" plans!!! When one hot spot ran out of gigs I would have to switch to the second one, and so on. Ridiculous.
Living in a rural area where Att and Comcast refuse to give service I cannot wait for this to be available to us!!! It will be a game changer!!! Currently have horrible satellite internet paying a crazy amount each month. Come on Starlink, we are excited for you!!!!
I'm South African (Elon Musk is also from SA) I have 1GBPS Fibre internet, but a lot of my friends don't have access to Fibre. And I know they will be so happy to get fast internet.
@@englishforsrilanka2535 He didn’t, he still has South African citizenship. My uncle actually met him last year in Cape Town. He has USA, Canada and SA citizenship.
Really looking for that Starlink IPO, not only will this provide internet to our rural areas, but poorer countries will have the ability to get access to more information.
@@stevescoffee8325 Reliance Jio providing cheapest internet service in India also in world but I'm living in rural area 😒😒 there is no broadband service. mobile per month plan are started from 2 USD/month 1.5 GB per day and unlimited voice call 😍

@@peekingowl4074 that is not too expensive for much of the US. Most people in the US don’t have access to internet like that, and it’s way more expensive here.
With home prices increasing in the city, we decided to move to rural america. Ive always lived in the city and never even once thought that I would struggle this much for a decent internet speed in the Untied States. That being said, starlink is expected early to mid 2022 in our new home and we cant wait until we jump from 15mbps to 100mbps. Elon Musk and his genius mentality is truly a blessing for people in rural areas such as ourselves.
I like the starting point of the speed they give you. As a consumer I can see the vision, and if they can continue on this course I could see myself trying it in the future.
the most mind-blowing fact is that by using starlink you are literally funding humans going to mars because the money is going to spacex and elon has confirmed he will use the money from starlink to fund spacex's mission. That's the most impressive thing you can do in your life!!
I just ordered starlink. I was convinced before watching your video, but I am even more convinced and relieved now. I can't wait for mine to arrive. The auto setup of the dish with the motor is really cool.
I pay the same price for “broadband max” from Frontier. Which is “up to 6mbps” but I rarely see more than a half and a day when I get a real download speed of 1 I’m amazed. I once had a steam download that said it was going to take over 3000 hours. I’m put my deposit down awhile ago and cannot wait for Starlink. I’m on top of a hill with wide open skies so I’m hoping it’ll work great!
I'm for sure going to take it, I live in a village in greece, where I have no access to fast internet speed, am actually typing from an internet that's 5mpbs at maximum right now , and I gotta say at least I have internet :( but when I get a good job and make good money I'm going to take it , I'm so excited for this
I have no need to Starlink whatsoever (since I have access to good cable internet) but I'm happy for the people who live in the rurals who aren't as lucky as I am to have access to good urban overland options.
Been signed up for months. Very excited to get it. I have viasat which is $100 per month but they give you 30 GB and if you use that all up, they slow you down to usable but really slow speeds (except at night which is when I download my PS4 games). Also, working from home and doing 95% of my work through SSH or Citrix, latency is murder.
The 2 things that come to mind for me is, that's one more thing to check off the list that make it possible to move out of an expensive city, and that would be really cool (if possible) to donate to a family or group in a 3rd world country. I work in an online education organization and we serve a lot of students in Africa, and we've talked to students who are making decisions between having 2 meals a day, or paying for a data plan to do online education and only eat 1 meal a day.
$100/month seems like it’s creeping up on the expensive side of monthly payment. However, considering who it’s competition is, yea screw both ATT and Comcast!
@@harsimranbansal5355 I somewhat agree. With ATT or Xfin for the first few years people usually pay less than $100. It's only after being comfortable with said company for years do they decide to spike the price. In that case you're either switching between the 2 companies or staying and taking it! My question is, with Starlink will it always stay at $100 forever, or expect an increase over time with the company?
@@kbhasi Oh absolutely! Which is why the concept of Starlink is great, but that's only if that monthly fee stays the same. Otherwise Starlink will be no different than the rest. With Comcast and ATT, and sometimes Verizon, completely controlling the market, that means their rules their prices. I just hope papa Elon does this for the better of humanity.
I have slow internet not even a megabyte, and my father just ordered it as a surprise and man I am so excited to finally get good internet speeds and to not have to wait a week to update warzone
Excited, ordered it. Soooooo tired of slowwwwwww internet. Have been prevented from attempting some business opportunities because of it. Hopefully Elon will help. Great video , tks.
Regardless of content (which was awesome) this is one of the best looking videos I've ever seen on youtube. I don't know why I haven't been subscribed. Fixed that now - great work andy
I ordered star link about a week ago for our location in the Colorado mountains. The return message was they expect service here mid to late 2021. I hope it is mid year. We have been limping along with Hughes Net for about 3 years.I will be very happy to get 100 megs.
Thank you Andy...ordering mines next month...at $129CAD that's not bad...$40 above what I'm paying for right now and my upload Speeds is under 5 mbps...I'm unable to Stream in my area
@@rusty2983 Yeah, good question. I'm not sure as I don't have Starlink. Do you get a lot of heavy rain? I live in South Louisiana about 30 to 40 miles from the gulf coast and we get a lot of rain with a good percentage of them being heavy downpours. Plus when hurricane season rolls around, we can expect a tropical depression, tropical storm, and maybe an occasional hurricane (though we had 3 last year). I would like to a Starlink test video with rain coming down like cats and dogs to convince me how it performs.
@@JohnnyUtah15, I totally agree, for us in NC it can either be a very quick rain or can last the whole day. Very weird weather, regardless though star link will be better than the 2mbps I get while playing $40.
I live in Ocala Florida. I just put in my deposit. Starlink says middle or a little later 2021. I am dropping T-mobile on September 30th when my "free" phones are paid for. It is going to be fun to make that switch.
I live in a semi rural area of Oregon and fortunate to have decent but often unreliable cable internet but will be getting Starlink soon. The monthy cost is the same and Starlink will give me faster internet.
Preordered mine in February. I’m on the city limits of a suburb east of Dallas and I’m like a half a mile from the nearest fiber optic line which the ISP refuses to extend without making over 10k upfront. I refuse to buy Hughesnet or Viasat so I’m stuck using a hotspot. I can’t wait to get starlink in “mid to late 2021”
I pay $80. a month and get 200MBPS with Xfinity and I am switching. Can't wait to get rife of the only game in town with the shitty service. The biggest reason I am switching is I can travel with it in my RV. Total game changer!
Nice video!! Very engaging from beginning to end. Nevertheless, businesses and investment are the easiest way to make money irrespective of which party makes it to the oval office.
The couple of Starlink satellites that have been found after coming down unexpectedly, were all attached to deflated balloons. Please explain why they would need to be hooked up to balloons if they actually went into space?
We've been waiting since February 12,2021 we paid $99 down we're in Pineville KY Southeast of Louisville KY and we are looking forward to it now get here already
In rural Pennsylvania... currently our only option is DSL. I ordered my kit, and the service will be available mid to late 2021. Can't wait! Thanks for the video!
