I'm just so happy that Abyss (now Justice in the dark) dropped!! It's the only BL I was waiting for and the first that dropped after the ban (I think)?? I'm a lucky fan! XD Also I'm actually enjoying it a lot so that's a plus!

Xianxia is dead to me too, but after reading the comments I went to watch Starry Love. I just finished the first 4 episodes, it was surprisingly really good. Great pacing, tight and logical plot (at least so far), good CG, and it actually made me laugh out loud several times. The acting is awkward at times, and ML's voice took some time to get used to (it just feels overly thick for the Xianxia genre), but I guess it kinda goes with his social awkwardness?? So far this is a win for me.

The Starry Love is so funny and the pacing is so fast that made it so enjoyable to watch, so much so that a person like me who hate Xianxia couldn’t stop watching it. It has its shortcomings but the weak points don’t affect the enjoyment of the drama.

The Stary love... NGL... I have to admit the ML I remembered him clearly from Goodbye My Princess and that character he played.... I hated him to the depths of my soul... to the point my feelings towards the actor even felt the same😂😂😂... I know I'm bias and its wasn't fair that I hated him for doing that role but I couldn't help it everytime I saw his face😂😂😂😂.... So I avoided all his dramas after that... So I decided its time to end my pettiness and watch him in this one and see if my perspective of him changes because I liked the plot... Thank god I did... He's really good in this role. This got me hooked from episode 1, with those random ass funny scenes and the fact hes socially ackward around people and doesn't like to be touched and love his quit surrounding... Well he was in seclusion for over a 1000 years.. Lol...😂😂😂.... Now he's got a noisy consort whose about to turn his world upside down... So funny😂😂😂.... Ohh the OST and BGM are so nice, yes got tired of the old sounding traditional music, its good to mix it up a little.... It really grabs my attention....

After waiting for so long, Silent reading was released but the subtitles were so bad. I am a huge fan of the novel and that's why tried to continue watching the drama for the last 4 hours. But I can't seem to continue from the episode 1. The actors, plot, cinematography, location everything looks so good but this subtitles are killing me. I know Youku is doing this so that they don't create a crazy situation among the Chinese media. Priest's last novel succeeded into a great drama adaptation and it's kinda impossible to stop the crazy bl fan base. Just hope that it comes out completely with a little bit better subtitles in the future so that the international fans also can enjoy this.

A League of Nobleman is actually my favorite BL (marketed) drama so far and if Immortality/Haoyixing ever sees the light of day, I believe it will singlehandedly revive the xianxia genre.

Holy guacamole! I'm a Priest stan (no shame, she deserves it) and I consider 'Silent Reading' one of her best works. It was when I first read SR and saw all the literary references she managed to weave into it that I thought "wow, this lady knows what she's doing". I had decided to not watch any of the frankensteined BL adaptations post-ban because I don't want to witness how they've been butchered in editing. But if this gets good reviews, I may have to try it out. Though, besides the BL, they must have cut some of the criminal stuff too, right? Because certain parts were very extra.

Waiting for Abyss, Story of the bat, Winner is King and Immortality ! I don't know if Starry Love is good, but it's certainly fun.

Never Give Up is a office comedy with lots of characters set in an electronics company selling products like electronic health chair. Both the 2022 korean Gaus Electronics and Never Give Up are based on a korean webtoon 가우스전자 (gaus electronics). Chinese title seems to mean today we should work harder. It is entertaining enough.

They tried hard to cut the bl scenes in abyss but you still kind of feel it with all the micro expressions that speaks volumes. Acting wise, its not perfect throughout but still good enough...

Im currently watching Story of Chongzi, which the plot reminds me of typical xianxia novels. Where the main protagonists join in a sect despite all the odds and being weak in terms of background and cultivation level. Im still uncomfortable with the age gap between the leads though.

abyss (justice in the dark) is a crime mystery and sci fi drama set in the future wherein genetic test can reveal who are the sociopaths who might become serial killers. chinese title seems to mean light on a deep pool. novel title seems to mean reading in silence. It is probably partly inspired by the mass surveillance of china which is using AI to predict who will commit crimes. Main actor is a detective and ep 1 has an old serial killer case plus a new murder case. The other main guy seems to be a diagnosed sociopath and likes to help the detective solve cases. Probably similar to old drama Evil Minds.

"Justice in the Dark" is the new title for "Abyss". A good number of novel fans couldn't accept the new setup (ridiculous but doesn't much impact the story), one or both male leads, his/their acting, his/their line deliveries, and so on. I stuck through ep 1. Story is good enough, faithful to the novel up to where censors would allow. The other flaws/faults don't bother me. Early "classic" cp scenes are there. Despite what I read that all physical contacts between male leads must be cut, they have physical contacts. So... Shippable material exists.

The fl in starry love has no emotions in her eyes, like even in the 'admiration scenes' she just blankly stares. Otherwise my fav. On the other hand chong zi is a mess big mess. The fl is getting spoiler sm by the ml. Like that guy doesn't have any brain. Him spoiling her should have a limit. Its hilarious how he lets her do anything knowing that it will attract attention as well as danger.

Im affraid of BL drama shooting because in every succesfull drama there is so much jealousy for some actors and someone always wants to destroy their carrer life. I still cant believe whats hatefull people did to Zhang Zhehan.

I can't get over Chen Xing Xu's voice in Starry Love haha, is that his real voice? Is that a dub? It just sounds so out of place. Also I agree that Starry Love is better than the one Yang Chao Yue is in.
