@@StarFighters76 - Octane’s entire mini-arc in Thief in the Night and Starscream’s Ghost was originally meant for Blitzwing. After all, it’s about Decepticon Triple Changer who strikes out on his own and is hunted by the other ‘Cons, and the arc was already set up in Five Faces of Darkness. But Hasbro wanting to focus on new toys had the scripts rewritten to focus on Octane and provide some last minute explanation in Thief in the Night as to why he’s on the run, leaving Blitzwing’s fate unresolved.

Yeah. I wondered about what happened to Blitzwing. So that's what happened.

I liked this episode as well, but enjoyed even more Ghost in the Machine (the sequel of this one).

He stands out from the rest. It gives a extra layer to the stories.

Same, my OG homie got me into this show because I'm renting the down stairs suite from him an his wife, an hang out in their living room a lot after I'm off work an smoke joints, an he's always watching his 80's cartoons (I'm from 1992) an tbh I never thought it was a good series until we rewatched season 1 an I took in the character an the dialogue (often just sat on my phone first few times he would marathon episodes from first 4 seasons). Man, without a doubt, Starscream got my attention first of any character. I still lose it in hysterics at the "Replace Me? Never!!!" "Devastator!!!!" "I Beg of You!!!" lines. And tbh even doe he a schemer an weakling, he always showed up for the action an never backed down (unless he seen opportunity for it to lead to him become leader lololol)

This is just another example of the inconsistency and retconning that was the norm with this series, especially in season 3. Blitzwing was the one actually banished from the Decepticon faction. This was supposed to be Blitzwing.

@@MulToyVerse Very weird, especially with him being such an established character (way more so than Octane). I remember watching this as a kid and the confusion with this threw me way off. Especially with the fact that the "Carbombya" episode not airing yet

And then the 'Animated' cartoon decides to just turn him into a 'Kenny' and kill him multiple times before finally offing him for good. Being Starscream is suffering to a large extent, and a large amount of it being your own fault.

Megatron made Starscream sub commander for a few reasons. To know his mind and his intentions to keep an eye on him. Starscream was a good number 2 and leader of the skeekers also. And good at his job. But he moves to fast. Don't forget in transformers the 1986 movie. Starscream wanted to attack the autobot moon bases first. But Megatron was right in attacking autobotcity from within. He surprised an attack on the autobot shuttle and killed the crew. Outnumbering them. He wanted to use the shuttle as a trojanhorse.That way the autobot warning alerts wouldn't go off. He want to cripple them and destroy their energy supply. That is the difference in their planning. Megatron is master strategist he nearly destroy Autobot city. Using the Autobots shuttle as a trojan horse when trying to cripple the Autobots energon supply. Starscream would rush to fast to move at times. Having a plan is a good thing. But before you move think first. Starscream did beat Megatron once when he created the combaticons.

In the original series he did take command from Megatron for all but a few seconds before the stuntacons interfered.

It took Starscream dying and coming back as a ghost to realise that the best way of destroying Megatron or Galvatron was to team up with the Autobots. Then again Rodimus Prime didn't have the same attachment to Galvatron that Optimus Prime had with Megatron, so maybe Starscream knew that Optimus wouldn't have helped him. 🤔

True, but they did set this episode up in an earlier episode when Octane betrayed Galvatron by pimpin Trypticon to that African warlord in exchange for Super Energon. Then he lied about it when he got caught and got kicked out of the Decepticons.

@@Soundwave32791 Voice actor Scatman Crothers (Jazz) died in September 1986. Voice actor Casey Kasem (Cliffjumper) quit the show after the offensive Arab stereotypes in Carbombya in the episodes Aerial Assault, Five Faces of Darkness Part 1, Thief in the Night.

Most of the entire 85 toyline also are alive, because they weren't seen in the movie at all. Red Alert, Grapple, Inferno, Tracks, Smokescreen, Hoist, Skids.. interesting that you never saw any of them after season 2. Funnily enough though, it was when they re-ran War Dawn with the season 3 intro that had me missing the original lineup as well, and really couldn't stand to watch anything season 3 or 4. So most of my TF watching doesn't extend past the movie, with very few exceptions.

At least Thundercracker came back as Scourge.

Starscream was the first one I got from Generation 2 since I never got him in the original run. He's in a box somewhere along with the Constructicons and Combaticons. Loved how Generation 2 allowed me to get the Transformers I missed the first time around.

I hated season 3 until I saw this episode . It's the return of Starscream's mischief and I love it .
