Starship Troopers (1997) All death scenes 

I love how when a warrior bug is in the process of biting someone in half, they are instantly immune to all bullets like they're in a kill animation.

It's weird that this was originally seen as a B-Movie when it released yet it's CGI, action and practical effects still hold up better than a lot of modern day films.

Starship Troopers is actually a A-movie which presented itself as a B-movie. A masterpiece in its own right.

When I was a kid I loved this movie for the action and gore. Now Im an adult and I love this movie for the context, satire and commentary. Its truly a work of art that still holds up 25 years later.

It's so weird in the fact that it's such a goofy movie, but a lot of the deaths (Dizzy especially) manage to have an emotional impact on you. It's fun and disturbing at the same time.

I've got to say, for a film made in 1997, this had amazing graphics for that year!

Has anyone else noticed that most Paul Verhoeven movies age really well? Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers… all still hold up really well. You can also notice the love they poured into the FX here, similar to Jurassic Park.

It's only during this montage that I realized that Rico basically doomed Dizzy by pulling out the bug leg. It was keeping the wound sealed and preventing internal bleeding.

For some reason when those tower gunners get sprayed with the fire it really really hit me deep, like they stayed behind as long as they could to stop the outpost from being overrun. You can tell the director deliberately gave them a very graphic death.

aaaaand this film still rocks

I love how the dude is getting mauled to death meanwhile the camera man is all like “Oh yeah this is definitely a good shot” 😂

3:21 the fact he shot him to prevent him from having such a painful death shows how terrified these men were in the movie.

Gotta love how at 3:25 he shots his own soldier to end his misery. Saying he expects the same to happen to him. Than at 4:35 my man gets it.

This movie terrified me as a kid. I’ve never seen so much carnage in an action movie. The brain-sucking bug freaked me out the most. These action scenes still hold up today, though! Edit: It just now occurred to me…why do they bother wearing that heavy armor? (That armor SUCKS!) The bugs can clearly slice, impale and bite right through it like butter, and they’re clearly not bullet-proof. lol

back to the day the CGI look really good

0:16 everything about that Arachnid...the whole detail of the limbs and when you look close at its shell, it's bumps and patterns...so realistic and life like. This movie still holds up perfectly with its CGI effects. I can't believe I didn't end up with nightmares about this film. I must of been 9 years old when it arrived in cinemas and I remember waiting in the line for our ticket and seeing the Starship Troopers poster on the wall in the cinema.

The movie did show us the propaganda and horrors of war. The violence is harsh and gory yet it is actually more realistic than in most of the war movies. Such a great movie. I bet one of the most misunderstood movies also.

Some bugs are dying in two seconds...some bugs dont want to die after two magazines...why?

Dizzy’s death was one of the sadder ones in my opinion. *”It’s alright, because I got to have you.”* Gets me every time.

I walked into the local consignment store one day, and Casper Van Dien happened to be there to open the door for me. I was so blown away by this gesture b/c that level of kindness is EXTREMELY rare from actors in LA.

I can't believe it's almost 20 years old now. It used to be one of my favourite childhood movies. Good ol' times. :D

8:08 - 8:50 is probably the best bit of acting in the whole film. Couple it with the music and you've got a brilliant scene.

I'm so glad helldivers 2 made so many people discover about this movie. I'm born in 92 and i watched this film for the first time in 2005 and since then i rewatch it once a year

Honestly a better action sci-fi horror movie than most action sci-fi horror movies these days.

Casual reminder that the upcoming game wants us to fight these fuckers with just four of us.

I remember I was randomly introduced to this movie as a little girl, it became my favorite of all time. Even though I was too little to understand the themes (and too little to be allowed to see the nudity) something about it kept me rapt in attention. The sequels don't deliver in plot, but the concepts and effects (especially in 3) make up for it.

I always found ironic that the Warrior Bug and the cow was censored, but the filming of the _aftermath of Klendathu, a literal mass grave full of corpses,_ wasn't.

This movie has better gore effects than most movies and tv shows these days.

Just imagine this violence level in modern cinema...

Do you know why the CGI is so much better here? It’s because it’s a combination of CGI practical effects, back screen, etc. and the Director knows how to use each one effectively to to suspend your disbelief. Also it’s about keeping the viewer engaged enough to suspend the disbelief. It doesn’t matter that computers have gotten so much more powerful if the Director doesn’t know when to use what and how to use it.

Of course, the first thing any EMT, Doctor, paramedic, etc. will tell you in the case of impalement like at 5:25, NEVER remove what's actually impaled because you can actually cause the person to bleed out.

Fucking CLASSIC film, I remember when it first came out, absolutely GORY AF, and still rocks today 20 years later!

Awww...this is a classic movie. I remembered when I watched this in a very young age.(like 6 years old) It was scary but found it enjoyable to watch as an adult

The final death was my favourite, because he went out like a bad ass before he blew himself up. Going as much as far as taunting them. This death always stuck out to me, and it’s a shame this movie never even did as well as I actually thought it did back in the day, apparently this was a major flop, but I can swear as a kid, I remember this being everywhere, the marketing was amazing and legit everywhere for what was classified as a B Movie back then. I must have rented this movie a solid twenty times as well from Blockbuster, so it boggles my mind how it flopped.

I am the only one who thinks that if Rico didn't remove the serrated claw from her body she could have been saved. That claw being stuck in her was probably the only thing stopping Dizzy from bleeding out.

Im still amazed over the CGI, it's honestly better than most films nowdays.

Never even watched this movie, but after the first few seconds of this and continually since the start, I find it absolutely stunning that this apparently wasn't regarded as a satire back when it came out.
