The new glassfaser pool or re- surfaced one is recommended to use dummy cell, so that all the debris is not blogged in the cell. So the filter need to catch the debris first before installing the actual cell. May be that should have mentioned in the video

Thoughts on strips that have the ability to check salt level instead of salinity tester?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Год назад
I’ve actually used those strips before. They are a bit tricky and difficult, in my opinion, to use. So I’m not a huge fan of them. I prefer a digital salinity tester. I’ve got a video coming out shortly about a new one that I started using that I really like and you can get it for under $50. Very accurate and very easy to use. So stay tuned.

@@PoolSchooler awesome can’t wait. Thank you for the reply, I used the strips out in the field today and “tricky” is a nice way of putting it lol. I will definitely try to convince my boss to grab the digital tester, even though I don’t think we’d use it very often. Thanks again for all the videos you help me feel a lot more comfortable and confident as a pool tech starting our own business

Kenny , I took a water sample to Leslie’s and they said the calcium hardness was only at 73 and suggested 37 lbs of powder. The water is only 7 weeks old. Any suggestions?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Год назад
I’m not sure how I feel about that. First of all, I’m not a huge fan of Leslie’s pool supply. I think too often they sell you stuff you don’t need. That said, depending on if you use chlorine tablets or not chlorine tablets, use calcium and other minerals as binders to hold the tablets together so you’re introducing calcium to your pool that way anyway. I’m assuming the 73 means 73 ppm? The ideal range for pools is 200 to 300 ppm (parts per million). I would suggest going online and doing a Google search for a calcium calculator. Check this link out. www.horizonpoolsupply.com/resources/calculators/raise-calcium-hardness You should be able to enter the current calcium hardness level of your pool and how many gallons your pool is and what you want it to be and it will tell you how much calcium to add.

Never ever add more than 25 lbs at once. Amazon a Taylor's kit and learn in a couple of days and do yourself .

I know in previous videos you said you don’t like salt pools. Are going to do more videos on maintaining a salt pool?

On my pool initial setup I made a rookie mistake and added the salt first and started the 24 hour pump circulation. How can I balance my pool after doing that?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 10 месяцев назад
Honestly, you should still be able to balance your pool water just the typical way. Since you already added your salt, hopefully your salt generator is producing and your chlorine levels are adequate. So just test the pH and alkalinity and adjust as necessary. Also test the cyanuric acid levels and adjust accordingly.
@rdelalto123

@PoolSchooler will do and thank you for your help. My manual says to run the pump on chlorinator mode for 3 hrs after the 24hr salt cycle. Should I do that and then test levels or test levels then run chlorinator mode?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 10 месяцев назад
@@rdelalto123 Probably a good idea to follow the manuals recommendations on that.

What If... i have a 20k+ gallon salt pool and my free chlorine is 1-2 ppm. How many gallons do i add?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Месяц назад
Typically with the salt, do you wanna add the amount of sausage to get your salt levels up to about 3200 ppm and get your salt generator working as quickly as possible. There are salinity calculators that you can find online do you know how much stuff to add to your pool based how many gallons it holds and what’s your current salt level is. Typically a few gallons two or four of liquid chlorine beginning should hold it until the salt generator gets up to speed. but don’t wait too long to add the salt
@ironllama

Im so confused. If my saltwater pool is low on chlorine do i add salt or liquid chlorine/tabs etc..?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Месяц назад
Depends on why your chlorine is low. Low salinity add salt. If the salinity is ok could be a dirty cell or system malfunction.
