I basically just use chlorine. My pool was green last year and I couldn’t get it clear and I asked someone that was doing a pool service across the street. I can’t get my pool clear. They told me to get phosphate remover when I used it was clear the next day. I also have a question. My filter runs at 60% from 10am to 12pm and then at 80% from 12 to 4 if it runs at a higher percentage does that mean the vacuuming suction is stronger I manually vacuum it with a side port. I also want to thank you for all the great videos you post.

Here's the link to the video on how often do you need to change the cartridges in your filter. However there is no link to where you can find them mainly because they are specific to each type of filter and deals are always changing on the internet. So my best suggestion is to do an online search (maybe start with Amazon) for the specific cartridges for your model filter and look for the best deal from a reputable source. I'm glad my video helped. Hope you subscribed and please share my channel with others.

My pop up popped out of it’s socket. I bought a new pop up and the tool and put it back in, 3 times now, but it keeps popping back out every morning when the pop ups start their cleaning cycle. Not sure if im doing something wrong or if the in floor socket for the pop up is broken and need to be replaced. It’s only happening to that one pop up. Any thoughts? Suggestions?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler День назад
@@goodlife916 you’re right on track with what you’re thinking. Either you are not getting it fully aged in the sleeve that it goes into or the sleeve that it fits into is indeed worn out, and that requires a little bit more work. Typically, they have to drain the pool and then go in and reinstall a new sleeve, which usually requires some excavation of the old one.

My filter currently has Zeosand in it (3 years old), how often do I need to change it? Dang, this Dr Drydens is expensive!
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler День назад
@@capt.lennymiller6524 I honestly don’t know how often you should change the Zeosand. I’d suggest looking at the manufacturers website and they should have something about that there As far as the doctor Dryden, yes it’s about three or four times more expensive than sand, but given that it’s warranty for the life of the filter best time to put it in is when you put in a brand new sand filter and then load it with the dr. Dryden‘s activate and then it’s good for the life of the filter. So in the long run, it’s about a wash, depending on how often a person changes the sand in their sand filter.

Usually do both at the beginning of the season when I’m getting everything initially balanced, then use the kit maybe once a month and the strips daily. My problem is the ph for both my pool and my spa, the test strips are reading low at 6.8 and high, 8.4, on the test kit. I have no idea which one is right 🤷🏻‍♀️ any thoughts? I got the test strips last year and they don’t expire until Dec of this year.

To lower a high CYA, how much water should be drained? Just below the skimmer throat or more deeper?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 2 дня назад
Typically to lower the CYA enough to help you should drain AT LEAST 1/2 of the water. Best would be to drain and refill the pool completely but not until your CYA levels reach 300ppm or if they're over 150ppm and its not holding chlorine well.

Hello i have a pipe and valve that leads into the valve for the vaccum and skimmer pipes like the one in the video shown before the pump. I was wonderinh what does that valve do? Im trying to figure out how to vaccum to waste from the dedicated suction port when i suction manually. Is the pipe/valve going into the valve before pump possibly the waste valve? How would we know we are vaccuming to waste i tried turning valves but i dont see any water getting wasted..thanks for your time and sorry for any confusion.
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 2 дня назад
I'd have to see a picture or video of your set up. Also when it comes to vacuum to waste most sand or DE filters don't have that option. Typically if you "vacuum to waste" the water runs out of a backwash hose or something like that. typically if you manually vacuum your pool it goes through the the filter to be filtered (the larger debris gets caught by the pump basket which would then need to be emptied). Depending on the type of filter you have you may need to backwash it (sand or DE) or over time clean it if it's cartridge.

Doesn't liquid chlorine raise your TDS though? If you already have high TDS, do you still recommend using liquid chlorine? Other than draining your pool or paying to have the water filtered, is there anything you can do to bring down the TDS in your pool?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 5 дней назад
@@chrismyghostwriter TDS are somewhat controversial. Anything chemical you add to your pool will typically increase your TDS. Also, there are some people that say certain levels of TDS are too high and, for instance, if you have a saltwater pool, you have to keep your salinity between 3000 to 3400 ppm all of those are total dissolved solids and the total dissolved solids, that would be way too high. So you might want to watch my video. I’m told Dissolved solids it might help as far as reducing them. The only way I know to do it is through dilution, and that means changing the water. I've found a good skimmer running off an outlet does a great job attending to leaves and grass clippings. They tend to float for a bit. I don't want to mention names here, but there's a skimmer device that threads into an outlet and using a venturi at the bottom really sucks the stuff down and into an attached bag. Whoever designed my inground put the built in skimmer at the prevailing windward end meaning all the debris is blown to the opposite corner from the skimmer. Fortunately there's an outlet there and this device works great. It doesn't remove the debris from the water, you need to empty the bag, but it makes gathering it much easier.
