On Jan 6, 2021 I decided to loc my hair. After having been natural my entire life, I needed a change. It’s been one of the best hair months of my life, and I honestly wish I would have done this sooner.
A bit about my hair:
I do have red/brown highlights. I’ve had them for about 4 months now.
My hair texture is a mix of 3b & 3c
About my locs:
I decided to do the comb coil method to loc my hair with square parts. I really want my ends to remain loose and curly to have that boho locs feel, and I felt like starting this way would help me achieve that.
I have 132 locs & got them done at Brooklyn Dreadlocks.
I have not washed or twisted my hair on my own yet. A few products I’ve been loving:

I have a similar texture and I’m about a week into my journey. I literally wear them in French braids or up in a bun with a styled turban/head wrap to minimize unraveling. I love them so far and you made me feel better about the fact that I definitely won’t make it a month before my first re twist lol

I just want to thank you queen for making this video for us curly natural ladies out here ! I have curly fine soft hair similar texture as yours and just like you I’ve been natural all my life. I normally would wash and go but just even having to do that is too much energy for me. I’ve been debating on getting locs for some time now. Visualizing how they would possibly turn out. I have a similar hair texture as yours and I’m 3 months into my journey, but I’ve never worn my locs loose, only in styles (barrels/braids). You’ve inspired me to just let my hair do it’s thing lol

I'm glad you posted this. My daughter has 3/b/c hair and I want to lock her hair. My other daughter has 4b and I did micro interlocks on her and I love it. I think based on what I see on your journey I will interlock her hair as well vs palmroll. Thanks for sharing.

I'm a boy mom and started locs on my twins 12 birthday in April. Had my first retwist on my birthday in June. It's so much easier with having 3 boys that now I don't have to worry about my hair. Just get up take my bonnet off and go. I'm in love with my hair at this point.

I found that if you put rubber bands at the roots of each lock that you can wash it more and feel assured you won't loose the parts

I came to this video because I am 6 weeks in with my locs journey and I have the same hair texture as you. But I do want to let you know that when the hair gets fizzy in the roots that doesn’t mean u are not cared for or look homeless that just the hair processing new growth and fizziness is part of the process. And you don’t suppose to twist your hair that much either. We all have different hair texture but just because it gets a certain way in the process doesn’t mean that u look homeless or you don’t care 😂because see that’s the beauty of the spirituality of it.

I am so glad I found your video. I too researched for 7 months. Cancelled 4 appointments lol but yesterday, I got my locs started yesterday and I am happy about it!!! Girl we have similar hair and mine gets so fuzzy once it gets done. I could get my hair braided like 3 hours ago and it will look 1 month old lol 😂. I thought about dreads too help my hair grow real long then take them out in a year and hood that it works :)

I’m a dude but we have similar hair type, everyone tells me start from two strands but I use to have free forms and had around 160+ locs when I two strand it goes to about 80. I want a lot so this method looks a little better but I’m concerned my hair won’t hold or loc as well these look kind of lose when you get them done.

Maybe 2 strand twists would be better with your texture. It took 3 yrs for my hair to lock and I dont even have hair as fine and loose as yours. I have sislocs btw Edit: putting oil in your hair will not help the process. Don't put oil or conditioner in your hair. You want the cuticle to be rough

I tried locking my hair but the next day it was curly. What dis you do and use to start your loc journey. My hair refuses to loc. As soon as it gets moist it curls up and comes loose.
