I 100% agree with all you said. I didn't wash my hair the conventional way for the first 4 months but I did cleanse my scalp & my hair. I think the most important thing for newbies to do is to get as much information as possible before locing. Watch videos, ask locticians questions, read up! No, our hair 9/10 won't look the way we imagined or how someone else's looks but our locs are especially ours! I love my loc & I wouldn't attempt to change them. My hair is healthy and growing. 2nd year and in my locversary month!
@SimplyKeeSamone

Doing that research and giving yourself that space to receive as much knowledge as you can helps you to be able to make informed and strategic decisions. The health of our hair is the most important first and foremost! I am so glad that your locs are healthy and thriving! 😌 Congrats on 2 years loc’d Queen! 🤗🌱

I started my comb coil locs yesterday. My Loctician put them into a braid/ barrel style one time mainly so that my hair won’t unravel (because in twists and braids, they unravel in the first two days) She recommended that I clean my scalp with witch hazel or a dry shampoo as needed and apply light oil with no fragrance, etc every few days or as needed. She said to get my first retwist in about 4-6 weeks. Thank you as well for your advice and sharing your personal experiences.
@Cursiveclub
@Cursiveclub Год назад
Did the braid/barrel style mess up the comb coils when it was taken out and time to get them retwisted?
@dekeylamoore4764
@dekeylamoore4764 Год назад
I started mine yesterday and my stylist put my hair in two braids also
@abusedbyher
@abusedbyher Год назад
The problem with this braid 'holding' method is the coil cannot breathe and therefore won't bud, especially with the locking gel locked in - whenever I do this as a quick style to run to the shops etc, when I get back and unravel them, the 'cylinder' shape is condensed, flat and they're unravelling from where I suffocated them, so I dont do it often and just crochet the ones unravelling. My hair is 3 inches long and I'm almost 5 weeks in with my 5th set.

Had to run this one back because I had a style in from my first Retwist and took it out after 2 weeks and then my loctician did like little braids to spruce it up for me but she said something that really got my mind GOING “she was like “ I know you like the Neat look “ and I really had to sit back and PROCESS that because locs don’t have to be hella neat so I took those braids out today and of course my curls are attempting to do their own thang but I’m so happy I did it and I’m truly embracing my journey more so so again thank you for your content 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying and embracing your journey! Getting to the point where you can just embrace your locs as they are is something that is very special bc believe it or not some people get really wrapped up in the neatness almost to the point where it gets unrealistic and leads to damage. Def just sit back and continue to let your locs do their thing! 🤗

this video was so encouraging, i’ve been feeling ugly and sad since I got my coils because my hair is very loose and soft and my hair was so long and my coils are so much shorter than my hair and my layers are definitely showing 😂😩😩. It is most definitely a process but that beginning time period is a chance for you to become patient with yourself and fall in love with how your hair is transforming. Trust, I know it can be so hard to be patient because even I second guessed my at times...it was so worth the wait!
