I'm only 3 months in starter semi freeforms with a sponge, I use Jamaican Mango n Lime just to moisturize so I can take longer breaks between washing n retwisting
When I wanted to start my loc journey in 2012 the hairstylist decided to use ampro made my scalp and my entire head itch entirely for a few days, so I decided to comb it out, and washed it, because it was so very itchy esp when it became dry afterwards. I didn’t like it
I would like a video on what to do when starting locs. I've just started mine and kinda in the dark on things to do, like use product, when to know if they're locked ect... Think that would be some helpful content at least for me.
You can call them whatever you want. I grew up in a Rastafarian household with dreadlocs. No they weren't free-form. I still call them dreads. People need to chill on this topic. You call them locs. I call them dreads. Everybody call them what you want and keep it moving.

i use mango and lime oil and it works just fine for me everyone has different types of hair so its not going work for everybody but i been using that oil ever since and i have no problem
Aunt Jackies (coil locs) is actually how I started mines , my hair is so fine it took a soild 6 months to loc loc it , but ill def recommend that too bro ,
What their called not as important as the information he's giving. I needed to know this for my locs, dreadlocks or whatever. The out come is the same.
Yo I used wax for my dreads when I was Starting for the first time and After I watched your First Vid on What you shouldn't use after I heard what wax can cause that's way I don't use wax nomo
I wish someone had answered this question, cause I just got mine a day ago and chick used a lot of wax and pump it up ☹️ I'm just kinda stuck on what to do @ this point
I uded bees vax once and I regreted after years....😥 I've cutted off my dreads after 7 years because was created soo much build up in the dreads...and was impossible to remove it!
I'm so confused right now.I actually mix brown gel and beeswax together when I retwist.I have had my locks since 2005 and I can actually sit on my locks,Now I'm like have been doing it wrong all these years,geesh. Now I need to find something different
If it’s been working for you all these year’s don’t change it. Different things work with different hair textures. Keep doing you sis. I started with beeswax and also use Jamaican mango products and my locs are healthy and long. ♥️
@@kaykayhurricane5443 Thank you love.I appreciate that. I took your advice before you gave it. I tried using something different. I wasn't happy went back to what I been doing all these years. But I used the jamaican mango mixed with beeswax on my daughter's starter two strand locks. OMG when I tell you her hair looks soo beautiful, shiny and healthy. We just waiting for her to lock up. She been natural since birth now she on her way to college.So I'm excited to see how they lock up soon.
Thanks for this! but would Murray’s Beeswax count as being the same thing? Also I have been using Beeswax my whole life for retwisting and I’ve always had build up and plus I have dandruff all the time so what do you suggest I use for retwisting rather than the products you listed I shouldn’t use?
Try not to use beeswax at all, used to use it frequently as well and had too much build up now I use just oil and water and it works fine. But if you want something that would hold hold you could use xtreme gel or some other gel that you know wont flake.
Well i have a question.... what does it mean when your starter locs look like cheetos i started with finger coils but now they look weird like they don’t have that spiral traditional look😓
U had restarted my dreads and I don’t use beeswax nomo. I cut them Bc they were thining I thought that was Bc I wasn’t taking care of them but hearing this make me think back to the beeswax my locs are healthy now and I didn’t understand y my old locs did what they did. I THINK IT WAS THE BEESWAX!!!

I started w coils and used some homemade whipped shea butter w some oils, I'm a few weeks locd should I redo or something or do a detox? I don't really know but I don't wanna screw up my loc journey. Btw imma be able to wash my hair Thursday
Would you say many of your “donts” are less serious when dealing with extremely short starter locs? I’m talking literally a few Inches of hair. Playing/Twisting your own hair for example I assume it’s way less of a big deal the shorter the hair?
Im 5 days in my starter locs with two strand twists. How long will it take or how long will it take to loc and what should i do if my head near the roots is itchy
Being Mexican, my locks get super frizzy after i wash my hair so I have to crochet hook all the loose hairs every time which gets exhausting after a while. What tips might you suggest for my texture hair??
We literally just threw out the bees wax crap that I started my sons and was using for his first two years but now I’m starting mine and will not be using!!
