@@WatchJRGo You might find that you don't need as many as you think. I've retro-fitted a few extremely large warehouses with LED lighting, replacing old fluorescent or even sodium halide lighting, and using 2 for 3, or even 1 for 2, can yield yield a MUCH brighter work area than before with fewer AND far more efficient fixtures
@@WatchJRGo If you are going to be filming a lot going for a warmer color temp would be the amazing (3000k) the blue tones of fluorescents make everything look so dull ( just a thought)?
@@WatchJRGo these comments on this thread are informative and very helpful. I think the lighting he has currently is the high pressure sodium or metal halide with them huge Transformers, each bulb is probably what 200-400 watts that's a huge electric bill! Plus, they throw off tons of heat! it's time to switch to LED! which I'm glad you're doing and I never expected you not to, but my thought is to follow up with some of the people below or above me wherever they are on this thread lol, on how you might not need to get 20 fixtures, (let's say there's 20 fixtures in there now, for example) you might not need to get 20 LED fixtures, you may only need 10, or less! because they throw out so much more light... depending on what ones you get. lumen wise, led type like Cree, etc all that makes a light so much better than China knock offs that are extremely cheap!, JR likes a deal! but he's not a idiot, nor is he cheap! good luck and keep us posted we love the videos.
That scissor lift needs serious work if it's going to be even kinda-sorta reliable. Never mind you're not supposed to use IC powered equipment in closed spaces like that-even a big warehouse.
@@tempest411 Do you seriously think he will keep it running while they're using it? It only needs to run when he needs to move it and raise/lower it. If he really has to keep it running he can run an exhaust hose outside
Yeah, I got a scissor lift layin around.....oh, need a hydraulic lift 5th wheel trailer....yes, truck to tow it...check. Absolutely the best friends around. So much fun watching this come together!
You should consider some solar in the future i got some in my shop and i dont regret it electric bill got cut about 60% in summer when the ac is on all day
John Ross, looks like you've outgrown the new shop in just 2 weeks. I lost count on the number of vehicles inside. This shop is going to really make your great channel even better! Good job bringing that lift back to life.
Your like the friend that calls and says I gotta do something and need some help. Friends answer “ Let’s Go!”. Wicked fun JR! Cheers from Maine. Would help ya but way to friggin fah bub. Have at it.
On a completely unrelated note, I was rewatching the boat videos and thought it might be cool to do another boat OR maybe a jet ski?? Just a thought. I’m also trying to come up with a good name to suggest for the new warehouse. Really smart move in buying that. People are crazy over renovation videos. Now you got both cars and buildings covered.
Consider going solar. You might be able to get the panels installed free using a power purchase program or apply for a grant. Keep up the good work!! 😎
I remember Carwizard say that it gets quite windy over in that part of Kansas so solar panels might get damaged hence he didn't use/convert omega auto clinic roof to go full solar.
@@learndesignwithdev They can be setup in high wind speed areas. That is a fabrication as old as time. On a roof as high as that one they are unlikely to be damaged by debris blowing around.
@@learndesignwithdev Panel cost have been dramatically dropping in the past 5 years. ROI / Breakeven (depending on incentives offered at the state and federal level) is now on average at about 7 years. After that they are paying you!
Yes!!! Always exciting to see another engine brought back to life. Excellent work by you, Jared, and the other guy. What happened at the end?! Cliffhanger!
"It sucks to not have navigation." Ha ha! You kids. It sucks to not not have navigation. It sucks to not have the floor button for high beam. It sucks to not be able to roll down my windows when I don't have the key! Dude - where's my ashtray??
Florescent lighting is fairly efficient, there is not as big difference changing to LED (compared to incandescent). Just think how just warm Fluorescent tubes are to the touch (like LED) - they are fairly thrifty. BIG PLUS of LED is they work perfect when COLD out. Florescent take time to warm up, and wear out quicker with on/off cycles.
Absolutely love the direction of this channel. I hope you show some detail of the network install for us nerdier viewers. Did you go with Ubiquiti gear?
We got LED lighting in our warehouse, the only problem is shadows in between our shelving. Proper placement would have helped but management doesn’t have to actually work in the warehouse so they signed off on the replacement. They work great and dim when the don’t sense movement, saving even more power. That feature works perfectly.
Your best option for network infrastructure is probably a Ubiquiti gateway, switch & AP's you can also get a cloud key for your network & check it/troubleshoot from anywhere using the website. If you need any PCs I just updated an office building & have probably like 50 slim desktops you can have. Shop's lookin' better every day.
Ah, I remember the old days of pulling network wires, Co-ax for either ARCnet or Ethernet...or worse, 4/16 Token ring cables! Ugh! Twisted Pair makes life so much easier!
It was kind of the first company truck my dad bought for the employees... it's basically been destroyed in the last 20 years but it did a lot of work! 💯
..not to sound too old, but in the past, we had everything sprayed white above the floor. everything. and white epoxy floors, THAT cut down on the need for half the lights...it was amazing.
The period I spent as our shop rebuild Mechanic, worked for a Major grocery store chain, thought it was a good idea at the time, getting off the road for a change, being the only shop mechanic repairing field un-fixable for approx. 200 stores in our district was just too much. Part of my duties was maintaining our small fleet of scissor lifts. Ours was all electric which made the job a bit easier, not having to deal with the engine, unlike our emergency backup generators which was a major pain in the butt.
With the AP's, I'd recommend not putting them too close to the edges of your building as they will just bleed out into the street. Don't forget that cat 6 cable has a max length of 100 metres before it starts to degrade the performance. I'd recommend putting the switch somewhere close to the second building so you could link the 2 buildings together and use the same internet but then disconnect if you decide to sell one of them.
Wait a minute....you guys fixed it and....NO BURNOUTS? Shame on you. Keep up the good work! Please, make some videos of the cabling and tech stuff too!
Dude! Please do not stand next to an ancient commercial tire when inflating it . Do you understand what those do to humans when they explode? Put it this way, if that thing goes, you definitely aren't doing an open casket funeral, and they might be finding piece of you in that field for weeks. Please don't make this into WatchJRBlowUp. Our shops maintenance guy loves showing new guys a picture on his phone, and asks them if they know why we always secure a tire before inflation. He then shows them the Firestone lettering , imprinted 20 feet above them on the roof of our shop. A wheel had failed as it was rusted and structurally compromised, but it wasn't visible unless you dismounted the tire. It shot up so fast, that the words "Firestone" can be read very clearly to this day. It took out most of the lighting in the area, 2 fans, air lines, and a lot of drywall before damaging a customers car on the way down. That was a small passenger tire. Imagine this going off in your face. I've seen the training videos of them doing it to a crash test dummy, and it's incredible how much it resembles a bomb being detonated. Absolutely terrifying, and why air lines are disappearing at many gas stations.
you should look at ubiqiti / unifi networking for the shop. i set it up in the house and it is way over kill. they say it is for seriously large businesses. good luck. great vids.
Question- did you check to see if you get some sort of rebate for the lights? Where I used to work they switched over and got some sort of rebate- as well as I remember the people that my company bought the new lights from handled the rebate.
