Starting and Finishing Chapter 4 of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (5) 

This chat is so good. No backseating, no spoilers. It's rare to actually be able to see someone organically experience a game like this on stream these days.

Honestly, Vivian is GOOD representation, she mentions ONCE that she is trans.. that's it! Her entire character is not written around that fact, and it's seamlessly fitting because of the way she gets bullied by her sisters.

As someone who played the original on GameCube almost 20 (!) years ago when I was a teenager, it's really heartwarming to see the new generation getting to experience the battles, laughs, twists, and turns of this classic Mario RPG. Yes, some parts of the script were changed, like Vivian being confirmed to be trans, but overall I'd say 95% of the game is exactly how I remember it!

Vivian is such a queen of hide and seek that she stole Waldo's hat!

At first, Vivian was my favorite partner in this game. Now, she's my favorite partner in all of Paper Mario. 💜💜💜

Vivian is a real one for helping Mario when he was at his lowest point. And even when she found out who he was she still had the kindness and resolve to jump in and help him. And break free from the abuse of Beldam. Vivian probably has the best character arc of any party member in the series. Also it pains me to have to fight her in chapter 2. I never attack her with Mario. I however have Goombella do it instead because I don't think she has a problem attacking anything. I do make sure to knock out every part member when we fight Doopliss again though. They had it coming for being so gullible.

I had never watched your videos but I want you to know that I LOVE your experience playing this game. I was 13 when I first played it and beat it and it always stuck with me. This game is one I replay every once in a while and love. I love seeing you figure everything out and your chat not spoiling or helping!

I've been watching streamers play this game for the first time nonstop the past few days. It's so cool to see people discovering (and rediscovering) this classic and celebrating it together!

Not gonna lie, I was really hoping after all the boos appeared, you would stick around in the area long enough for the optional mini-boss fight to start. On a side note, it is hilarious how stupid the party is in the second part of this chapter. Doopliss doesn't even act like Mario, like, at all, and they all fall for it.

I don't know if you're aware of it yet, but you should really upgrade your some of your partners, it's absolutely necessary because this game gets even more harder beyond this chapter. That's what those shine sprites are for if you didn't already know, they're not just collectibles. It's best that somebody tells you now instead of struggling later on. Hopefully this isn't a spoiler for you👍.

I don't understand why people just assume Vivian is trans in the comments... Nintendo never stated anything on the character so its all just assumption. Now Idc if she is or not, but I took what she said a completely different way when I went through the game. Basically Beldam's a piece of shit and tricked her into thinking she was a boy when she was younger because you literally can't tell if the Shadows are male or female because they're literally shadows. Now if she is trans, great! I'm happy for y'all, but I just can't get behind it until Nintendo makes some sort of clarification beyond just 1 ambiguous sentence in the game.
