Here in Holland you get the advise to soak the corns a whole night, so I always have to smile if I hear a someone mention that they forgot their corms and soaked them for 4-6 hours instead of 3. Relax! 😄

Do you also soak anemones overnight? I’m in Australia and never heard of soaking, but will try it this year!

Here in zone 9, many of my ranunculus are already flowering :D It's my first year growing them successfully so this is a really proud moment! I'm excited to see your festival mix ranunculus with the green center bloom, as I'm also growing these for the first time this year!

Ahhh..so many corms to choose from. That's tough..all are gorgeous. But, whatever you choose , I hope you grow that bordeaux one from last yr. I ordered that one after I saw it growing out in your field! Maybe, just maybe, it'll grow for me here. I have a few sprouting. They are all going in raised beds that my husband hasn't got around to making yet!! Yep...

Anemones are in full bloom & Rununculus are days away from opening here in zone 9b northern california. They are some of the least fussy flowers for me, I dig & divide & transplant them as the folliage dies back in late spring & then forget about them until they come back the next year.

I hear you Serena, we changed out our furnace and now it has a dehumidifier so my corms kept drying out in my space so next year I'll definitely wet the medium medium before I planted them. I even put a humidity dome over them. You just have to watch them a little more closely. I had one little fuzzy fungus come, but I just got rid of that one corn and it was fine after that.

Ah I wish I’d watched this video before I soaked and planted my ranunculus in modules a couple weeks ago - over 60% rotted 😢 Going to try again, soak for less time and try your tray planting method with the tops uncovered.

Loved the video. It was energetic and fun and a great length! Get some small paper bags (lunch bag size or smaller) and put 10 unsoaked corms of a single kind. Label it, staple it closed, and sell it in the roadside stand. To see how they sell, you could do six bags of mixed corms too. That would help get rid of the extras. It's almost time to order tulips. I'm suggesting a max of 7,000! (I know you're probably rolling on the floor laughing hysterically at that number!)

I cannot wait for ranunculus & anenome season! I'm afraid mine arejt going to do as good as usual, because this season is unseasonably warm! 😢 were usually in the high 40's low 50's right now, & were having mid 70 degree temps?!?

What I would like to see as an amateur gardener is something like a grow along with me. Something which is short and to the point, such as saying when with the date you are going to sow seeds or start corms etc. Any updates such as sprouting/planting and blooming. HOWEVER…….i do understand this is a business and you and Ian are extremely busy people and doing something like this takes time to put together. But if not able, dates are always a huge help….on a personal level because it helps me understand a bit more. In the UK I have found that our information on the back of seed packs are pretty rubbish, so I do go into Jonny’s website for more information. Unfortunately we don’t get Jonny’s seeds in the UK LOVE THE SPEED UP hahaha if only we could sow seeds and garden that quickly hahaha 🤣 Happy gardening xxx

The problem with that is, is that her zone of growing is probably different than you try to find a local flower farmer or veggie grower near you and if they are active on insta they may post days they are planting and that type of thing. Her area is incredibly dry and mild winter the mild winter could be similar to you but they do get snow that stays for a little while, the amount of rain and freeze date for you can really change things. I follow a small flower business and use that and online recommendations to figure out the right plant date for me.

I bought some ranunculus to try this year. About 8 of them just to try them out. I'm in central Alberta zone 4 last frost date is end of May. Everything is covered in snow outside and it's 4 degrees out. Hopefully spring is coming. Can ranunculus grow in a pot? When would I put them outside?

Who do you purchase your ranunculus corms from? I have only purchased the boxes at the big box stores. It's a hit and miss on the health of the corms. I'm a small home gardener but would like to have a good supply of 30 -40 corms to plant. Thank you in advance, Laurie

Not necessarily. There's only so much time to harvest & arrange when it's just her doing the harvesting and arranging most of the time. I think it's a good business decision to sell some of the corms.

Ian is always in the winter videos less than the summer videos. Serena does a lot more of the videos this time of year because she’s talking about plant variety specifics that isn’t Ian’s strong suit. In the summer we get a lot of Ian, his strong skills are the market and the large scale farm prep.
