The campaign looks massive but as the turns progress, they become faster, once you eliminate enemy strong points and mop up stray auxiliary brigades

I really wish they added more strategic options on the campaign map i.e. airstrikes and certain points being supply/logistics hubs which give certain bonuses or command nodes etc. this is what i liked about red dragon campaigns i.e. capturing ports allows you to deploy reinforcements, airports allowed your planes deploy closer and thus allowed them to greater rage. You could paradrop units, do amphibious landings etc. these things seem to be missing from both sd2 and warno. Eugen needs to understand there should be more to a campaign map other than moving units around. I really like the campaigns but the campaign map needs more strategic options.

Yeah I agree with you here. A few ideas of mine for improvement are, (which I also already pitched to Eugen some of them being actively dicussed with them too). 1.) Decissions effecting Movement capabilities of units or map areas for a given number of turns (sabotage, road blockage due to refugees, blown bridges etc.), fuel maybe. 2.) HQ effect on recovery of cohesion on the campaign map (recovering 2 instead of just 1 per turn when close) 3.) Recon planes and stuff, ambushes etc.

They need to be careful as it's multiplayer so exploits are a bigger problem. Some options such as Bombard in SD2 felt too strong. Overall though, completely agree, would really round out the experience

The main difference I think is that Wargame campaign on the strategic map is scaled to a entire country so such strategic locations like ports and airfields are relevant. However the amount if units in wargame is very small for its strategic scale. Warno is a lot more realistic in how many units there are when just a couple divisions are engaged. This also mean that to make it manageable, the area being focused on is a lot smaller but with greater fidelity. But smaller area means you don't have as much grand strategic options. There are still things they can do though. Railway segments and airfields should still be possible to act as points of interest. Not as main objectives but areas you can hold to gain an advantage to secure the main objective. Other options could be having advantageous staging areas and capture zones on certain "key terrain" tiles so you are incentivized to secure those areas or avoid fighting the enemy that are holding it.

The thing about giving units to the AI to make it more fun is definitely true, sometimes i even give them almost everything except a few companies with recon and leaders and roleplay artillery or air commander (the AI sucks at doing recon and capturing objectives so i found wise to have some of my own)

It's somewhat eerie, the initial frontline is located like 20 km from where I live. I might have to play that game, although I haven't been playing RTS for decades.

Yeah as a German myself it feels really odd. Esp knowing that some of my family members served in the NVA at the time. But it makes me happy that we dodged this bullet.

Good stuff! Does the AI tend not to add additional forces to its attacking units or is it purposefully trying to make multiple attacks to increase your own fatigue?

It tries to have higher strength then you, if the score is sufficently high it doesnt add anything on top, which is a misstake in my eyes. Already reported to eugen.

Did it with auto resolves only and it took 10 turns and about 200 battles. So I guess you're about 1/100 the way to the end.

yeah did that too on the test build, took me 11 or 12 turns and 159 battles I believe :D

You can win in 4 turns as pact if you take advantage of how the AI doesn't add all the battalions it can to a battle when it's surrounded by stronger battalions in attacking range. Burns through your fatigue like wildfire but it's a reliable way to get total victory autoresolves en masse.

What is the point in giving some forces to AI? AI is worse in managing them than human player

exactly THAT. I dont want to seal club the AI with the same strategy each game. The AI companion forces me to adjust a bit more and leads to fights playing out a bit different.
