Great video guys! Mr. Webba pointed out such an interesting parallel that Lucas hand-picked Kennedy, and Iger hand-picked Chapek. I do think it's a common dynamic where a creative leader often has a loyal lieutenant who is highly valued for their day-to-day work in helping to execute the creative visionary's plans. Then when the creative visionary steps aside, who do they pick to succeed them? They kind of *have to* give that loyal lieutenant their shot, since it would be unconscionable to by-pass them and give a different person the opportunity. But often that loyal lieutenant was a great get-things-done person but not also a creative visionary (creative visionaries *don't* want another creative visionary as their lieutenant...that would be rife with conflict and distraction.) So after the lieutenant is elevated to run things...they can't live up to their predecessor or the role.
Excellent discussion! I agree with Matthew when he said every studio is course correcting and doing amazing except for Lucasfilm, they are the only studio that’s still on the struggle-bus.
I think her amazing history as a successful producer is one reason she’s still in charge of Lucasfilm. That, plus each movie in the sequel trilogy and Rogue One making over $1 billion, plus the success of the Mandalorian. Even though many hardcore fans are unhappy with Star Wars from a creative standpoint, Kennedy has actually been pretty successful on paper.
Q Should they removed non award shows and movies from service and fucas on top name Tittles that up for awards or win them them and non award Tittles should be removed from service overall ?
Guys, I’m watching you’re about a quarter into the show. You’re giving her too much credit. Fantastic producer? What movies did she produce? movies made by guys named George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, Clint Eastwood, and Martin Scorsese. Some of the greatest names and film history. They were great and wonderfully produced because of her but because of them and to me when she produces something on her own, it’s trash. So I wouldn’t say she’s a great producer. But as a woman, I can see through her bullshit.
