I haven't done a state of the (watch) collection video for a while. This is a review (or overview) of my watch collection. There are actually more Seiko watches than Rolex watches, and the large majority are tool watches - plus a few quartz watches.
Watches are:
- Rolex Submariner 50th Anniversary Kermit 16610 LV - better than the Hunk!
- Rolex Submariner No Date Sub 14060m
- Rolex Explorer 14270
- Grand Seiko SBGN001 9f quartz
- CWC G10 W10
- Casio G Shock DW5600
- Plus a hand full of Seiko 5 watches

Cool, I think a you could use a chronograph, maybe something interdisciplinary but durable like the SUB 200 T.GRAPH from Doxa! I also have a 12 piece collection, think it is a great number as it allows you to keep a few pieces which you are not wearing frequently but have a lot of emotional value for you.

Anyone that enjoys a Seiko 5 fidget spinner will enjoy using a Chrono! Not a moonwatch cos it feels too similar to your mostly black sub and Expy. The thing with an HMT is that legit, accurate HMTs are actually hard to find. I have one too, inherited it not that long ago. It's being serviced. I also wrote an article about it, which I think I shared with Adrian before. I think you should be lucky to own an authentic HMT in the first place, because they are rare, obscure, and you only get them either as "new - old - stock" or vintage.

I have those type of storied watches as well, and I also don't really think of them as my collection. Though with that said I can understand why Adrian covered them as they are watches and he does own them. Personally I have been putting them out around the house, kind of decoratively. It's kind evokes a memory or a story like a picture in a frame does for me, and I figured it's nice to see them through out the day. Though I suppose to people who don't know those stories will think I just leave watches around everywhere in the house...

Bought a 9F SBGN009 and had a similar lack of bonding experience. Bought a spring drive diver SBGA229, a hand wound dress piece SBKG005 and an automatic GMT SBGM221, all of which I love. Sold the 9F. I don’t like bracelets and usually wear my watches off the OEM bracelet when they come on a bracelet. I didn’t take the 9F off the bracelet. It was so easy to sell that I just let it go. I am inclined to consider a 9F sport piece with a solid dial and a blocky almost cushion case (can’t remember the reference) that comes on a strap to round out my Grand Seiko subcollection. I am not anti-quartz and indeed find virtue in quartz and I do not understand those who express venomous feelings about quartz.

Hi Adrian. The number on the back of the CWC or G1098 watch are as follows. W10 is the accounting section, for the watch. the next four numbers are the same in number form. the 99 is the country of origin 99=UK 01=USA they are available on the internet. The last 7 is the number of the item. in this case your watch. this is known as the NSN or Nato Stock Number. 7091 is the serial and the 06 is the year of manufacture. What i remember the most was you freezing your bum off talking about your vintage Omega Seamaster. Its inspiring seeing your channel grow. To date your Seikos, all you have to do is look at the first 2 number of the serial on the caseback. The first number is the year (i.e., 1 = 2001 or 2011), and the second number is the month of that year (0 = october, N = november, D = december). Hope this helps. Looking forward to more B&J videos!

Hi Adrian, concerning the manufacturing date of your SKX: the first two digits of the 6-digit number towards the bottom of the Great Wave off Kanagawa signifies production year and month. E.g. I bought mine new only a couple of weeks ago an it says 91XXXX which means it's been produced in January 2019. Now, with second hand pieces it could mean either 2019, 2009 or even 1999 considering that the watch was introduced in 1996. BTW, thanks for the great content - keep it on! p.s. Fun fact: I realized that it is wrong to refer the insignia on the back of the SKX as the Hokusai woodprint called "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" Look it up. It doesn't look anything like that famous work. For once, the print famously includes a depiction of Mount Fuji. And as a person living in Japan I can assure you that a Japanese company would have included that detail had they Hokusai in mind. p.p.s. As to what is missing in your collection: I just bought my first "luxury" piece with the SBGA211 - get a Spring Drive. It's mesmerizing...

On the caseback of your SKX, the first two digits of the serial number is the year and month of production. E.g. 970391 - 9 means 2019 and 7 means July. For the months, 1-9 is January to September. 0 means October, N means November and D means December. The year is tricky tho, a 9 could mean 2019 or 2009. @@mikejones-dx8bx anything not mainstream and commercialized that requires some study...? For sure the Rolex "Killy" would not be nicknamed like that if more people knew Killy wore a 765CP Breitling for the Olympics. But Rolex is very good to make a sales pitch and that is what they are mostly good at :). You want a diver? Get a: Doxa, Favre Leuba, Certina DS, Eterna, Eberhard,... You want a motosport chrono? Get a: Hand wound autavia or the first 68'automatic or Zenith A386,... or whatever else from the smaller brands with V72. The best daytona there was had an ElPrimero anyway 🤣

I would definitely recommend you the Grand Seiko SBGM221, it is just perfect and would perfectly fit into your "wearing" collection

Really nice, interesting collection. Enjoyed the video. I was surprised there wasn't an Omega or Oris in the collection.

Could you do a video regarding UK contents insurance and the best options when you have valuable watches please? Interesting to hear how a safety deposit box helps

Man, you have an HMT Kohinoor? Respect! They used to make excellent mechanical watches. See if you can get your hands on an HMT Pilot. I have a feeling you'll dig it.

Yes please don’t knock the quartz watches. I’m a self taught watchmaker as a hobby and I enjoy the automatic movements. I like all watches new and vintage however I just purchased a new 2020 Grand Seiko 60th anniversary LE with the blue and red seconds hand and a gold star motif at 6oclock and on the back is a Grand Seiko 18k lion logo. It’s just a stunning piece of a luxury quartz watch. I have a Rolex Explorer 217240, 2010 model. Grand Seiko quartz is to Japan what Rolex is to Swiss. Enjoy your videos. Keep it going.

I got a Mondaine like yours. 25 jewels, but day date. All in steel bracelet. I got from my old grandfather. The crystal is terrible and the bracelet is a little bit stuck, and does not run. I need to repair it.

Interesting collection. If I’d have to choose one from it, it’s gotta be the Explorer. Btw, what strap do you have on that HMT Kohinoor? Looks lit!

HMT is not a watch, it's an emotion for most of us.

So Seiko dating is pretty simple 1st: You need to know the years Seiko produced a movement’s Reference # (6309,7549,7S26,etc) usually shown as like this 7549-7009 2: Knowing the years of production of that reference ex: the 7549 movement was produced from 1978-1986/7 so there no over lapping of years 1-10 3: Look at the serial number of the watch. Usually 6 digits ex: 820921 Digit 1: Year if manufactuer for this example it would be 1978 since now 7549’s stopped production in 1986/7 Digit 2: Month if production, 2 meaning February, after October being 0, N is for November and D for December.

Please do this annually. I really connected with my No Date Submariner 114060. So comfortable and the glide lock makes the bracelet versatile in hot and cold. Surely you need 2 things. 1. Chronograph - eg. Speedy/Daytona 2. Dress watch - JLC or a Blancpain?

Hi Adrian! Love your videos and your photography! I'm not sure if you already answered to that, but I would love to know what kinds of coffee do you like to drink in the afternoon! Here in Italy, where I live, it's all about Cappuccino in the morning and really short Espresso anytime else in the day, but sometimes I would really like a longer coffee out of a mug that's not as milky and foamy as a Cappuccino, but I don't really know how to make a good one. Some tips about that would be great! (Even maybe in a video someday? )
